As badly as Kilik knew Lairon needed the experience, there was something bugging him - literally. He slowly lifted Lairon's Great Ball from his belt and recalled the dinosaur. "It's time I get aquainted with a special someone!" Clipping the ball back and snatching up the newest, he enlarged the sphere and let it fly. "Come on out, Bahamut!" he whistled shrilly.

The ball burst and revealed Kilik's newest partner, the Vibrava known as Bahamut. Its wings fluttered quickly - it was quite excited. The Pokemon hopped along on the ground then flew up into the air. Kilik smirked, then placed a hand on his chin, trying to remember anything and everything he'd even read on the creatures. Granted, he didn't know much. He decided to give it a whirl. "Bahamut, attack with your..." You know, Dante, it would've been nice if you'd given me an attack list! "If you have...erm...Crunch?" the boy shrugged and held his palms facing out, smiling sheepishly. The Vibrava nodded then flew towards Arbok, taking a massive bite from the creature's neck. The insectoid latched on tightly, never wanting to let go.

Walrus punched his fists together then began to run in place. This caused Electrode to spin quickly and release a Sonic Boom towards Breloom.

"Don't worry about it," Keegan reassured her. "It's natural to be upset or frustrated at a loss, but they come and go, just like wins. I'm sure he," he gestured in the direction Mason had gone, "is taking it harder than he let on. But good sportsmanship is important in this kind of lifestyle." He thought about how Surge had been really quiet after Kasiya left, thinking about how to word his next sentence. "Your dad seemed to be quite upset, actually," he told her honestly. "I think he feels too bad about Hiro's injury to really feel like celebrating right now. Besides, the match was closer than you think. Electabuzz would have fallen if Shocker could have managed to attack one more time. I'm certain of it." He too decided to be quiet just then, but smiled at the comment about Morgan. "She's doing incredibly well," he admitted, nodding as he spoke. "She's got a long way to go, and she'll be even more powerful once she has a few more attacks at her disposal." He could tell that Kasiya had something else on her mind, but he wasn't going to push the subject. He knew her well enough by now to know not to try and force anything out of her, as she'd come around when she was good and ready.

Leaning on the railing that overlooked the arena, Mai watched the two boys battling the grunts with feigned interest. The ordeal from the previous night had been really draining on her, and she'd only just awoken now, a small bandage covering the slight wound on her neck from the syringe. The whole process had left her feeling tired, as though she were on the rebound from a bad case of influenza, but as described by the doctor, it had left her sister terrified. He'd reassured her that the girl would most likely think it to be some twisted nightmare. Mai watched the Vibrava zip towards her opponent, latching on with her powerful jaws. She was faintly reminded of her own Flygon, and how hyper he had been before his evolution, but the transformation had caused him to calm down somewhat. "Shameful," she sighed, wondering how lax the recruitment office had become lately as she watched the worm Kilik and his friend making somewhat short work of the lowly grunts. Had she been not feeling as though she'd been trampled by a herd of Tauros, then perhaps she would have gone down there to show them the true power of Team Rocket. But no, squashing the two like the pathetic vermin they were would be hardly gratifying, if nothing, a waste of her time. For a moment, she questioned Giovanni's allowing of the two into the gym, when time and time again they'd done nothing but cause trouble. She knew that her boss's judgment was often impaired when it came to matters involving Kilik, but despite this, she still trusted the man with her life. After all, he was the closest thing to a father she'd ever had. Deciding that she didn't care to see the rest of the boys' battle, she moved from her position, striding down the long hall past Giovanni's office and disappearing into one of the many doors along the way.

"Alright Oddish, Ready and ACID!" The dark haired girl yelled pointing at vixy.

Oddish stopped bouncing back and forth and started to hop on the spot. As it bounced up it spit a steam of liquid acid towards the Vulpix. Vixy was not prepared for the burning sensation as she shuddered at it trying to shake it off. A small squeek could be heard from the fire type as it shook violently.

"Okay Vixy, time to finish this. We'll get you healed up soon I promise you're doing great. Once more Vixy Ember!" Maven called out her eyes betraying her confidence. She worried for her pokemon.

Vixy wasted no time as it started to pace the ground watching the Oddish bounce from foot to foot again. She arched upwards and her fur went out of place as she leaned down and let the flames fly out of her mouth as she attacked the grass type again.

The bouncing bulb had stopped on its right foot and fell on its side. The other girl recalled her pokemon and walked up to Maven.

"Thanks that was fun. I'll get you next time." She said as she took off after her brother.

Maven grabbed Vixy up in her arms and kissed her on her head as she congratulated Vixy she walked up to Keegan and Kasiya.

"Hey, when did you get here? How are you doing? How are your pokemon?" She asked surprised to see her other friend. I must've been too worked up in the battle...wow...I hope she's better...no stutter impressive

Carley looked through the peep hole until she saw that Mag had left the hallway. "OKAY!" She said dramatically. "Now off to our secret base!" She said with a laugh as she opened the door. Biff tossed her one of Linalee's pokemon. "Keep hold of that. This way if this twerp somehow manages to incapacitate one of us the other still has something to keep her hostage with." He said with a smirk as he shoved Linlaee out the door.

"You actually do have good ideas once in a while." Carley responded closing the room door. "So act normal kid and don't do anything stupid or you'll never see your pokemon again. Got it?" She said sternly. "...Yeah" Linlaee muttered as they all walked casually off of the ship.

A canine's nose is very, very sensitive. Daemyn falls in the canine category. One plus one.

As if he'd bitten something foul, the Houndour spat the bird right out, forcefully sending it in any direction but near himself. The pain had multiplied that time; ineffective type or not, that hurt like hell. And he was all the more pissed for it. Daemyn was easily riled up, after all, and he did not like being insulted in this manner.

Eyes burning, he pulled up another ball of fire, collecting it in his throat before releasing -- unforunately, he'd let go of it a tad too early. Instead of striking Little Guy as planned, the Ember veered way off course, narrowly missing the back of M.A.'s head and hitting the trees surrounding Bugsy's arena. Now, trees aren't the most fire-resistant objects around, and to Daemyn's alarm, the fire spread. Fortunately, Sting and the Scyther were on the opposite side, but that wasn't much of a condolence. . . The flames were making an easy meal out of the tree's leaves, now hungrily moving towards the adjoining tree's foliage.

Abandoning his fury and the battle, Daemyn ran off towards M.A., yelping like a little kid would to an adult after some trouble.

"Dae -- Oh, shoot," the brunette gasped, noticing the growing heat not far from her even before the pup had reached her. She involuntarily stepped backwards. "We gotta stop that before it spreads. . . Bu-but how?"

Meanwhile, Ulani had already fluttered off towards Sting and the Scyther, sensing that something was wrong. There was a sense of confusion, of gnawing uncertainty in the air -- the battle was over and her friend had won, of course, but what was going on now? What was the Scyther saying to him? The little blue Swablu was determined to find out.

As she flew closer and closer, she distinguished the Scyther's words. "--think you need trainers. . ."

She stopped then, coincidentally hovering just inches behind Sting's head as he turned to look at Ky. The rest of the Scyther's little speech enfuriated her, and with a sudden flare of temper, the bird swooped in and began to hammer the defeated Bug's head with her beak. Don't kick 'em while their down, etc. etc. . . She didn't care for any of that right now. This guy was so full of it! "What - non -sense - are - you - spurting - out - now - you - terrible - little - termite?" she said between pecks. After dealing out some considerable damage, she turned to Sting, her eyes still flaming. "And what's this? You're starting to believe him, aren't you? Go ahead and doubt Ky, if you want. Forget everything I'm sure he's done for you. Everything he's done to help you get stronger, all that training and care. Forget about that friendship. Yeah, sure, you might be able to get strong on your own, but it's gonna be one effin' lonely, empty road, buddy. What're you fighting for alone, huh? Look at this Scyther guy; what's he fighting for, what's the point? I don't know about you, but my trainer's my partner and companion in battles; she keeps an eye out for me, she's there for me, she's supporting me. We work together. She gives me the heart to keep going, the confidence to do things I would've never figured I could do. So what about you and Ky?" This furious ranting seemed odd from the usually passive, sweet Ulani, but she was just that indignant at the whole enchilada.

...and she was. Kurine was waiting at the entrance of Route 32 for Miharu, and waved when she saw her.

"Hello!~" She called happily, lowering her hand afterwords. "All set?" She asked, holding her hands together. Kurine was glad that Nurse Joy was so nice, and quick. It had barely taken a few minutes before she had gotten her pokemon back and headed out. She just hoped that the Sentret would be a little less vicious now, and that Cyndaquil wouldn't dislike her for letting his HP get so low.

Ky's head zipped around as soon as he felt the flames shoot by. "What the... oh s**t!" was his response as he noticed the danger. Ky began to panic a bit. "Gah! I don't know what to do. I don't have any water Pokemon," he said. Then, he began to think for a while. "Bugsy has to have fire-challengers come every once in a while, right? And there's got to be some way to stop it if a fire breaks loose on accident..." Ky then searched the ceiling and found what he needed. A sprinkler. It hadn't gone of yet, but it did seem that the fire wasn't big enough yet to set the sensor off. Ky then looked towards Daemyn. "M.A.! Tell Daemyn to shoot an Ember to set off the sprinkler up there! Be careful not to melt it though!" he said as he pointed upwards.

Sting meanwhile, paid no attention to the flames. Instead, he listened to Ulani, word for word (the Scyther was knocked out cold by the way). He was caught off guard a bit with her advice, and it made him angry that the bird felt the need to speak up. When he spoke though, he kept himself calm. Ulani was speaking from the heart, and Sting could understand that.

"Birdy, don't worry. I won't leave Ky. I wasn't even planning on it. The way I see it, I owe Ky a lot, and you don't need to lecture me on it. I'm not stupid. Ky and Little Guy are my team, my comrades, and I have to hold to that. Sure, maybe this bug guy got to me. So what? I can't relate to him, and being who I am, I'll just forget what he said by tomorrow. And about Ky, how can I not doubt Ky? He's only human and I'm only me. You know what drives me to win? Doubt. If I can't prove to Ky that I'm stronger than he thinks I am, how can I grow? What I'm sayin' is, I expect the same from him, so... just back off birdy, and go do something about that fire will ya? I don't really like fire..." After Sting's little speech, he removed his stinger from the Scyther's back. "This guy needs to go to the Pokemon Center, pronto," he buzzed.

After tumbling over and over in the dirt, Little Guy was a bit dazed to say the least. Feeling quite helpless, he just watched as the events around him unfolded, unsure of what to do. Meanwhile, the fire continued to burn, consuming more and more of the tree it had been started on.

Train and Pikachu had found a nicely sized boulder which blocked them from view if that sat on the side that was closest to the wall. Pikachu curled up on her lap, and Train leaned with her back against the rock. She fell asleep not to long after.

*---------*

...it's not to safe falling asleep in a cave. Train knew this, and it entered her dreams for a little while. She saw herself and Pikachu being attackd by tons of wild pokemon. This jolted Train awake, and she looked around. But, of course, nothing was there. A Zubat passed by, but it payed the trainer and her pokemon no attention. Train was glad, and aroused Pikachu. She felt a lot better, and more awake. She wasn't sure if the awake part was because she had slept enough of because she had been scared awake.

Honestly, Ulani might be bipolar. One minute, she had taken up an assumption that set her off like a firecracker; the next, after Sting's little speech, she was quite reassured and the irrepressible little Swablu was as satisfied as ever. Floating off the Scyther's head oh-so-casually, she headed back to Mary-Anne, sticking her little pink tongue out at Sting as she passed by. "Remeeeembeer, we have a battle to make up too~ Try having this little 'birdy' back off then," she called out cheekily.

"Ri-right!" It was evident that M.A. wasn't much of a leader; the fifteen-year-old didn't have the quick thinking and self-assurance that it required. But heck, at least she could do what she was told to.

Daemyn was already a step ahead of her, however. He had heard what Ky said, and although he had no idea what these 'sprinklers' things were, Ky's tone sounded like he knew how to stop the fire. So the pup glanced up, squinting distastefully past the ceiling lights before he could pinpoint the location of the little black circle perfectly. Don't melt it, the boy had said. Alright, then. . . The pup gathered a small fireball within his jaws before setting it forward with surprisingly near-perfect control. The flames died out just an inch before they collided into the metal sensors -- exactly what the Houndour had hoped for. And nearly instantenously, all the rows of sprinklers in the gym burst into action, letting loose cone-shaped rainfalls of droplets.

The fire was history in half a minute, leaving only smoldering, black branches in that one tree. The whole building and everything/everyone in it was thoroughly drenched; only when puddles began to form on the arena floor did the sprinklers halt. Daemyn was shivering madly now, eying the sprinklers with such an apparent sense of injustice that nearly made his trainer giggle. Instead, she pulled him over and grabbed a semi-dry shirt from her bag, wrapping him in it and holding him close to her chest. M.A. found herself at quite a loss of words.

Naturally, she was relieved, but another thought struck her -- what would Bugsy say when he came back and saw this mess?

Ulani's quirky habit of cleaning had already possessed her, and she was polishing the floor where the ashes had fallen. Although the bird was soaked herself, surprisingly enough, her cottony wings did not cling to itself -- well, then again, if they did, wild Swablu would have trouble flying during storms.

"Ky. . . maybe we oughta get that Scyther some help," she gestured to the fallen Bug, "and maybe find something to clean this place up a bit."

"Yep, all set," Miharu grinned as she reached Kurine. Kurine's energetic mood seemed to be contagious, and soon the two were headed back down the now fairly familiar path along Route 32. As the grassy area she'd started searching in before came upon them, once more Miharu released Aska, and the cheerful Pidgeotto continued to search high in the skies. She knew it would be best if she and Kurine split up, but at the same time, she liked having someone to travel with. She didn't know how long her search would take, and she was even willing to spend the night out here if need be, but she wasn't so sure about her new friend.

As she entered the tall grass, Miharu placed her hands on her hips and looked around. There were no humans around other than them, and the only Pokemon to be seen was Aska. Perhaps this would be a tougher search than she thought. She took a few steps forward, only to hear a soft rustling sound a few feet in front of her. She stopped and listened, and a moment or so later, a Bellsprout appeared, paying the two humans no notice as it wobbled along. "Maybe you could ask it if it wants to train with you?" Miharu suggested, turning back to Kurine. "It would be good experience for your Pokemon."

Suddenly, the doors of the Gym fling open, to reveal a rather small purple haired boy in pajamas accompanied by a rather large and intimidating Scyther, clearly not the same one he used for challenges. He looked cross, and not the least bit sleepy. "Who has trespassed on my Gym territory?" He shouted, surprisingly authoritative for a pre-teen. "I'll have you know that breaking into a sanctioned building is felo-AGH! My Gym!" It was then that the boy realized the actual state of things. "Why was there fire?!" Bugsy practically thrust his hands onto his hips, glaring at the two 'burglars.'

"You had better start explaining before I have you arrested!" He shouted, not amused or happy in the slightest.

"Everything is fine," Kasiya reassured Maven, nodding. "Hiro will be all right, his leg is fractured, and he'll have to take a vacation from battling for a week or so, but he'll be okay." She reached out to gently pat Vixy's soft fur, and congratulate the adorable little Vulpix. "Good job, Vixy!" she said, scratching the little fox behind the ears. "You really handled her well, Maven," she added truthfully, hoping that she could help give Maven's confidence a boost.

Looking around, she decided then that she should ask them about Cinnabar Island, although she already had a good idea of what they'd both say. "My father told me that there's a mansion on Cinnabar Island that has a run-down mansion that is filled with wild Pokemon," she began. "He says it would probably be a good place for me to train, and I have decided to go, but the thing is, the Pokemon there are pretty strong, and I wouldn't want to force you guys to come along with me unless you wanted to. I was going to leave pretty soon, actually, because there's a ferry leaving from Vermilion port in an hour or so, and I'd like to go as soon as possible."

Not expecting the little insect to be so strong, the Arbok had let its guard down, causing the Crunch to do more damage than it would have liked. Letting out an aggravated cry, a ball of steaming muck and sludge rocketed from the creature's gullet; a Sludge Bomb, aimed at the antagonizing Vibrava.

P.B., don't worry about the Sonic Boom, just Bulk Up in case of another attack. Thankfully at this particular Pokemon's level, the definite damage of the attack would be barely noticeable. The recent refill from that Rhyhorn had put him at near optimal strength. Not to mention, Grass Pokemon had a natural resistance to Electric attacks, so there really was nothing to worry about.

Right away Master! Curtly replied the Breloom, drawing in a breath and exhaling sharply. Tensing the muscles all over his body, Portabello could feel the grassy fibers covering him weave together, strengthening his Defensive capabilities. As he flexed more, his arms and legs began to tighten, feeling more mobile, more powerful. The added stats felt good, and would give his next attacks more punch.

"Bahamut!" Kilik called out, "That Sludge Bomb is nothing to worry about! Take the hit and then attack with your...uhm..." he paused for a moment, placing his hands on his temples and rubbing slowly. What else would a Vibrava know? "Use...Dragonbreath?" he chuckled quietly. He glanced at the spot where he recieved this Pokemon and scowled. Thanks for telling me what it knew! he thought, rolling his eyes.

The insectoid took the full force of the showering sludge and let go, fluttering up into the air high over the floor. Her eyes gleamed in the light as she opened her tiny mouth. A stream of blue flames shot out, aimed directly for Arbok's chest.

Electrode spun around quickly, snickering. Walrus clenched his fists and punched forwards, extending his index finger to point at Breloom. However, no attack went through. Instead, the ball began to spin around very fast once more. Copies of the Electrode began to appear until they completely encircled the biped. They all began to snicker in unison.
