It is probably a reality distortion. They happen every now and then.
There's a large chronal distortion over there-
::points at the door of the boiler room::
-but I do not think anyone has noticed it except for me.

It is not currently active.
My theory is that something in the future is exerting a great deal of chronal distortion.
