Train looked around the cave. She didn't want to be surprised by a Geodude again. It wasn't very fun to have those things pop out of nowhere and freak her out. Pikachu stuck close to Train.
Then there was a loud noise, causing Train to clap her hands over her ears, and Pikachu to do the same, while gritting his teeth. A Zubat swooped down, but halted in mid air, "watching" Train and Pikachu.
"Agh! Pikachu, Thundershock!" Train commanded, letting go of her head and pointing at the Zubat. Pikachu braced itself as the charge built up inside of it for a few seconds, then let out the blast of electricity. "Pika-chuuu!" He cried.
The Zubat made another hideous noise, then crumpled to the ground. It shakily got back up, and made an attempt at Leech Life, restoring some energy.
"Alright, Pikachu! Looks like we can finish this off with a Quick Attack." Train said. Pikachu nodded, and blurred for a moment, then reapearred slamming into the Zubat, knocking it out.

"Nah," Kurine replied, "I like to keep the original names. Don't really know why, I just do." She said, shrugging.
"That's a cool name. I'm not so good at making up names." Kurine said in response to the Pidgeotto's name. "I guess that's part of why I don't!" She added, laughing a bit. Kurine was glad she had someone to travel with, even if it would only be for a short time.

Mag walked out of the docks and up the path to the main town of Four Island. He inhaled the island air, it was always some of the best in town. Mag continued on and was already at the town. There was the Mart, Pokemon Center, and all the other buildings (including Lorelli's house) further in the town. But Mag only had to head north towards the his grandparent's pokemon daycare center and ranch. He could see the building on the hill in the distance.

Needless to say, the Breloom wasn't expecting his attack to be met with a plume of flames. Fire bad! He cried before the elemental attack struck him in the face, humorously charring his once well groomed leafy fur. It hurt alot more than he was expecting, and his landing turned into a fight to stay balanced. Under the ash and burnt foliage, Portabello's eye twitched, the Grass Pokemon clearly not amused.
Are you alright P.B.? Mike asked quickly, noticeably concerned.
Shaking his head rapidly, little charred bits that used to be the Breloom's neatly kept face drifted slowly down, landing pathetically on the floor. The only thing hurt is my pride Master. said the Pokemon, looking sorrowful at the debris on the floor.
Then we'll take it back, later. Mike tilted his head to the newly revealed Rhyhorn. For now, refuel on that rocky beast with Giga Drain.
Gladly. Clapping his hands together, Portabello concentrated on the Spikes Pokemon, knowing surely that it would deal colossal damage. The Rhyhorn let out a surprised shriek, watching her own power be stolen right before her eyes. Large green orbs of energy, her energy, drifted away, combining with the Breloom, who took a deep breath, revitalized. The Rock Pokemon weakly looked back at her trainer, then fell to the ground.
"Rhyhorn!" The Rocket yelled, recalling his Pokemon and gritting his teeth at the shaggy brown haired boy who was smiling tauntingly at him. "This last one will be more than a match for you!" Throwing a Poke ball onto the field, it revealed an Arbok, much to Mike's distaste.
"How many of these damn things do I have to fight in one WEEK?!" He gripped his hair in his hands, spinning around in utter anguish.

Keegan was beginning to believe that he'd underestimated the possible strength of Mason's Doduo, and that perhaps it had several levels over Mori. While he'd been lost in thought, Mason had called for another Peck attack, and once more the two-headed bird went in for the strike. Mori jumped back as the pair of sharp beaks came at her, ready for them this time. The flaming pony shot a glance at her trainer, wondering why he wasn't telling her to do anything. She took the opportunity to growl at the Doduo once more, again causing it to falter and look a bit shaken, its attack power reduced by a decent amount by now. Morgan let out a loud whinny and reared back, slamming her diamond-hard hooves on the ground with as much force as she could. The Ponyta's actions snapped the redhead back to the fight at hand, and he silently berated himself for losing focus during a battle. Both Pokemon looked healthy enough to go a bit longer, but the fact that they were both fairly young weighed heavily against them. Keegan still didn't want to use Flamethrower, thinking that perhaps it would be too much for the boy's Doduo to handle, and he clenched a fist, lowering his head and closing his eyes. "Double Kick, Mori!" he commanded firmly, yet quietly, not looking up as the Ponyta galloped forward, rearing up again and striking with both her front hooves this time, one landing a good blow to the left skull of the Doduo, while the other missed by only a hair's breadth. Shrieking in agony (well one head, anyway) the Twin Bird retreated backwards, looking a lot worse for wear than it had a moment ago.

Kasiya nodded approvingly at the sight of Vixy's Ember. For a young Pokemon, it was a pretty decent-looking attack. She knew that the Vulpix wouldn't have a problem taking out the Oddish, but as she watched Mori tangle with the Doduo, she suddenly didn't feel the same confidence she had for Maven's battle partner. Why isn't he giving her commands? she thought, watching the brave Ponyta duck a vicious-looking pair of Peck attacks, only to use her own method of getting Keegan's attention. She cheered silently at the next successful attack, not wanting to hurt the confidence of the two younger trainers, either. She gently touched the Pokeball that held Rosemary, and smiled as she remembered the powerful Meganium she and Keegan had faced together the other evening. Someday, Rosemary would be that tough, if they worked hard enough together. "I'll help you to become stronger," the girl quietly promised the Bayleef. "I promise."

Kilik looked over at the snake and felt a chill run up his spine. "Mike, if you'll take out Arcanine, I'll be more than obliged to knock down Arbok!" Kilik shook his head softly. That Arcanine beats both Lairon and Portabello, he thought. It then clicked, Portabello! One more Dynamic Punch like that and he'd be down. The question is, can that hit? He weighed the options presented.
Growling at his master's lengthy decisions, the Pokemon loosed another mighty roar, raging towards Arcanine in a all out Take Down. He wasn't about to lose because of his trainer was such a worrisome child. Kilik nearly fell at the sudden stomping then looked to his Lairon. "Or...maybe we won't."
The dog felt all the wind knocked out of him. Falling to his back with a yelp, Arcanine struggled to get up. The weight put behind the Take Down was just too great and he passed out. Wordlessly, as he always did, Walrus recalled his fallen partner then chucked another ball into the fray. A large ball spun on the ground, the exact colors of a Pokeball - an Electrode.

"Trainer's prerogative," Miharu said quietly, remembering the difficulty she'd had coming up with names for both Tingle and Starrie. "I guess sometimes a name just comes to you, and other times, it takes a while. There's nothing wrong with not bestowing names either, though."
As the young duo entered Violet City once more, Aska swooped down and landed nearby, ready to be recalled. Miharu did just that, and returned the obedient Pidgeotto to her Pokeball, and for a moment, she even considered going to visit Falkner, and show him that she too had started training a bird Pokemon, but decided against it, thinking that perhaps later, when she'd become a bit stronger, she'd take him up on the offer he'd made to have a rematch later, just for fun. "So what are you going to do after this?" Miharu asked as they reached the Pokemon Center. "I'm going to head back out and continue my search for a Mareep."

"Hm..." Kurine pondered the question for a small moment, then responded, "Well, I guess I'm going to train my pokemon for a bit, then, when they're strong enough, take on Falkner. She trains bird pokemon, right?" She asked.
She was glad when they started to near the Pokemon Center. Kurine really wanted to heal her Cyndaquil and newly obtained Sentret. They were both pretty weak right now, and Kurine felt kind of bad about it. "Oh! Are you trying to catch a Mareep to take on Falker? Because, um, Electric types are super-effective against Flying types, right?"

"He," Miharu corrected politely. "Yes, he does train bird Pokemon. I've already defeated him," she admitted, a bit modestly. "And Bugsy, as well. I came upon a trainer who was using a Flaaffy - the evolved form of Mareep - and I decided that it would be a wise move to expand my repretoire of Pokemon types. Diversity is the key to doing well in any circumstances," she explained, but quickly quieted down, somehow sure that Kurine already knew all of this. "Once I am finished here, I plan on heading to Goldenrod City to challenge the gym leader there." Noting Kurine's worried expression, she motioned towards the Pokemon Center. "Go get your Pokemon healed," she smiled. "I'm heading to the PokeMart to buy a few Pokeballs. Perhaps we'll meet out on the road again?"

"Oh, woops..." Kurine said, a bit embarrassed she'd mistaken Falkner's gender. At least Miharu had correctered her here, and she wouldn't make the same mistake while talking to Falkner himself.
"Perhaps!" She replied to Miharu's question. "Maybe we could travel a bit together, while you search for a Mareep to catch, and while I just look for some pokemon to battle? Though my battling might scare the Mareep away." She added, grinning a bit.
"Well, see ya for now, then!" Kurine said, running over to the Pokemon Center.

So now we're left with the psychotic living bomb, which may I remind you, could detonate at any point in time. Grand. Mike complained, giving a look of pure defeat to his Pokemon. He was now 0 for 2 in terms of Pokemon he liked battling.
It is our lot in life to suffer Master. Portabello replied sarcastically, picking off more dead 'skin' from his crispy face. Shall I engage this foe as well? I do believe I can take this rolling grenade of a creature. Shaking his head once more (and causing a good bit of ash to rain down) the Fighting Pokemon got into a ready stance, awaiting orders.
There was always Felsic, he did take down that last Electrode, and that was before he evolved. Or he could play it even easier and send out Titanium. No, P.B. needed the training, and it would be so heartbreaking to pull him out now after he was all ready and waiting. Yeah, I know what you can do. Toss some Stun Spore at him. Mike smirked, imagining the exploding Pokemon's face as his mobility took a nosedive. That'll slow him down but good.
Yes Master. The Breloom replied with a devious smile on his face. Golden powder began to flow from the two pores in his cap, drifting towards the Electrode. However, he had little chance to see if his attack connected, as he was struck with a flying Arbok, who took Portabello's distracted state as an opportunity to Wrap him up.

It wasn't until about then that Keegan noticed Kasiya had found them. Refusing to let himself fall victim to distraction again, he looked back to Mori, who hadn't enough time to recover from her previous attack, and was subject to a dual Peck attack, both striking her in the chest one after the other. It wasn't until Morgan let out a pained whimper that Keegan knew she didn't have much left, and judging by the Doduo's wobbly steps, neither did it. Stamping his foot on the ground, Keegan suddenly looked up at the boy, a near apologetic look on his face as he uttered his final command. "Let's finish it with Flamethrower, Mori!"
Surprisingly enough, Mason didn't seem to be shocked at all when Mori began to prance about, drawing the flames from her main and tail into a steady swirl around her body before she concentrated them into a stream of flames (still not quite perfect yet, but it was by far the best Flamethrower she'd pulled off yet). The Doduo merely closed its eyes as it succumbed to the fiery attack, only to be recalled by his young trainer a moment later.
"Out in a blaze of glory," chuckled the youngster, slipping the ball into his pocket. "That was a good battle, I think I learned a lot from you," he said honestly, once more shaking Keegan's hand. "Someday we'll meet again, and we can have another fun match. I'm gonna get this guy all healed up, then come back out here for some more training. See ya!" he waved, dashing off in the direction of Vermilion City.
Mori weakly made her way over to Keegan, and stood beside him, trying to steady the tremor in her legs. Keegan smiled at her, and gently stroked her head in congratulations. "Rest up, little one. You've earned it," he said as she disappeared back into her Pokeball.

"Sure," Miharu nodded. "Let's meet up at the entrance to Route 32 then. See you soon," she waved, also picking up her pace in order to get to the store quickly. She stepped inside, looking around for the section that sold Pokeballs. She double checked her money count, and realized she'd only be able to afford three, and then she truly would be bankrupt. "Oh well, a trainer can never have too many Pokeballs," she told herself, only then to be confronted with a funny image of a trainer trying to lug hundreds of Pokeballs in a large sack. She smiled at the thought, rethinking her last statement, and picked up three Pokeballs before heading towards the counter, and handing over the exact (and only) change she had. It was as though the clerk from before didn't recognize her, and rang up her purchases quickly. Miharu put the three new capture devices away with the others before going back outside, fully expecting to already see Kurine waiting for her (as her business was probably finished before her own).

After watching the boy run off, Kasiya moved forward, stealing another glance at Maven's battle for a moment. "He took that rather well, didn't he?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. "That's a sign of a good trainer in the making, right there," she added. "Good sportsmanship. Unlike me," she chuckled sheepishly, looking at the ground. "I know it was pretty childish to run out of the gym like that, but I needed to make sure Hiro was okay," she sighed, scuffing the dirt with her shoes. "Plus, I don't really like my father when he wins a match. He gets all full of himself and lets everybody know how cool he is." She chuckled again, and sighed. She was quiet for a moment before speaking again. "Mori did really well," she said, nodding. "She's going to be a real powerhouse when she gets older."
She decided to wait until Maven's battle was over before asking them about Cinnabar Island. The Pokemon there were fairly tough, but at the same time, the training would be worth it, for her at least. She was somehow certain that she'd be traveling alone this time, however.
