You wanna piss 'em off? Take a Land Raider with Daemonic Possession. Sure it becomes BS3, but it ignores ALL SHAKEN AND STUNNED!
Units to strike fear:
Plague Marines are anathema to Guardsmen. Heightened toughness and Feel No Pain give them TONS of survivability against the flashlights. Wound on 6s with a 3+ save and a 4+ FNP against flashlights is a wonderful, wonderful thing.
Noise Marines are great for killing swarm armies. They all have an Assault 2/Heavy 3 Bolter, and the squad can be given a Blast Master (S5 AP5 Assault 2 Pinning/S8 AP3 Heavy 1 Blast). Also, their Noise Champion can take a Doom Siren, which is an AP3 Flamer.
Berserkers are kind of the pinnacle of Assault Troops. For attacks...1 Base + 1 Mark of Khorne + 1 Multiple Weapons. Then you put them on the charge. The Skull Champion has another attack on top of that. Then consider that they have Marine stats with WS5. They will absolutely shred up most enemies in CC.
Thousand Sons are made to kill MEq. Slow & Purposeful means that they always have full 24" on their Bolters, and Inferno Bolts makes sure that they can rip through everything but for the best armor in the game. AP3 is not to be sniffed at, 'specially not on a Bolter.
As for numbers, I'm not sure on most but I know that 'Zerks can be taken in a squad of up to 20 models. If you really want swarms in CSM, just take a 20 man mob of normal Marines.

My personal pet hate unit are Mighty Morphin' Obliterators with perfect weapon for every target, 2+/5+inv and 2 wounds each... and you can deep strike them, move and fire heavy weapons, and even crush things in hth with power fist. And they are fearless too...

And they are fearless too... They have a 4+ Invuln, pally-boy. That's the only way that making them 70(75?) points each is justifiable.

Possessed Land Raider pisses people off (even more if you build your iPod into it and small speakers so it plays annoying music during the game)
8 Zerks in a Rhino goin' forward
Oblits deepstriking taking care of tanks
2 units of 7 Plague Marines and plasma or melta weapons, with powerfist leaders
2 Daemon princes with lash of submission
1 Defiler to boom the s**t out of the lashed troops,
1 Vindicator to help out
That's pretty much the most annoying stuff I've met so far from our local chaos player, but it's still fun anyways, when he gets his unlucky rolls he looses the spirit of the game completely, but he's like "Man I'm awesome!" when stuff go bad for me, we're kinda love/hate enemies.
I like playing against his lists, but it isn't that fun when he make bs lists (so I try to counter with one myself), but he doesn't play fluffy anymore... It's sad, but I can live with it, he still gives me pretty challenging games, and one day I'll get my ultimate win, either he win (tho' that's when he plays Eldar) or we get a draw. wink

Latin lyrics fitted sisters too...

My friend plays like that sometimes; just rushing in with no plan at all. He loses pretty badly. My eleven year old cousin, his first time playing Warhammer 40K, used his same exact Space Marine army against my Chaos army in an annihilation battle, and I won only by a single kill point, with barely and models left on the board. The kid had me trapped and it was simply luck on my part that I won at all. I normally mop the floor against my pals. .-.
I need some obliterators now that I think of it... But yeah, best of luck to you for finding a good opponent, and good luck with your list!

Hah, I tear the s**t out of my Marines, I hate making them look like nothing happens to the armor in the middle of a fight.
Well, in fifth edition, they split up Chaos into Chaos Space Marines and Chaos Daemons, when it used to just be Chaos Space Marines. To use the Bloodthirster rules, you'd have to be playing a Chaos Daemons army. If you want a normal Summoned Greater Daemon in your army, than the Bloodthirster is a cool model to use it for, anyways :3

And let me be completely frank, Necro: For their points, it's insane to NOT take a Summoned Greater Daemon. Seriously, their stats are fracking incredible. Heh...I put it up a while ago, but it's worth saying again. I had a Nurgle army (PMs, DPs of Nurgle with Warptime&Wings, Autocannon Havocs, Vindicator, lots of Bikes) and the icons of the Bikers drew the Greater Daemon down right in the middle of my enemy's flank. Given how I had positioned everything, it was just...incredible. ^^
Summoned Daemons, however, are questionable. They're great for distractions and to hold a line against your enemies. It's also nice that none of the Daemons in the Chaos Space Marine codex suck up any Force Organization.

Now it's MY turn, Caliedah. I LOVE my unit of Lesser Daemons to death. They have killed everything from swarms of Tyranids, to carnifexes, to wraiths, to Necron warriors accompanied with a lord WITH a res-orb, and so on... Just so much... xD
