Ophiuchus wait, the hive mind effects people in the first place? As for the lack of mutation stuff.... Tyranid spore chimenys can mutate people. Chaos taint can mutate people. Geneseed Degredation can mutate people. This is theoretically why blood angels are all nuts. We can assume if they are a new chapter of nonspecified geneseed, their line may be a little "fresher" from geneseed degredation and so has less impurities in it. However the rest IS very curious. Yeah the hive minds can effect people I think. Based on some tyranid short stories inclusing the origin of the death company there are always humans worshipping tyranids. This may not be the hive minds, but I think its pretty likely.

Isn't that illegal? Like, the Ordos' are gonna get storming in there for a sample?
-Mykal remember that one, marines are seperate from the Imperial body, not that that would stop an inquisitional force from meddling, but it makes it harder. two, other chapters get away with this, such as the black dragons, and on that note the 21st founders in general. The imperium has so many factions and so does the inquisition. Maybe the higher points of the ordos believe that these tainted marine chapters existence is in their best interest at the moment. That or maybe theyre good at hiding....

That or maybe theyre good at hiding.... Actually Inquisitor Lord Varius was marked a Heretic by the Inquisition, but I'm not entirely sure if that's because he sent Inquisitor Lok to his death or not. Either way they've permitted him to live so long as the Scorpions continue to prove useful against the Tyranids. As far as I know the Hive Mind can only affect Tyranids and Genestealers. It should be noted that the guys who are always worshipping Tyranids are normally led by Genestealers, hence the name 'Genestealer Cult'. So we can assume that if they are attempting to make the Scorpions more resistant to the Hive Mind, that there must be some part within them that originated from the Tyranids. And I still find the lack of corruption/mutation to be unusual. We already know Tyranids are masters of evolution, and most mutations within the Marines lead to undesirable effects. (Such as Blood Angles going insane and whatnot.) As such we can assume that any Tyranid sample within the Scorpions would evolve to fight weaknesses like that. On top of that the Apothecaries constantly check the Scorpions for even the slightest sign of a mutation. Could this be that they are afraid they will start to show the physical traits of a Tyranid? And of course there's always the subject of the Red Scorpion's symbol. A Scorpion. Anyway, I find it deeply disturbing that the guys who invented the Helios Pattern Land Raider might be Tyranids. We don't need the bugs driving those things. xd

But yes marines are there own independant body, not that Inquisitors dont try to regulate them, and it seems in books the second the Ordos have the strength to take out a chapter they dont like its on, but until then they just sort of sit around and grumble. Either way, if they werent independant of the Imperium, they wouldnt work by request rather than order, and the Wolves, Blood Angels, probably Dark Angels, Black Dragons, and maybe the Iron Hands, and so on would all be gone. That is a good point on the 'cult' reference. Im not familiar with the Helios pattern, but so far this chapter is actually interesting me, and those were some interesting points you brought up abou them.

what i just did was search the ca. online store, using the keywords hammer and thunder hammer. both failed in epic proportions. the kind of hammer I am looking for is like the one on the blood raven captain in the showcase at the back of the new SM codex.

The handle looks like the hammer of Inquisitor Lord Coteaz of the Daemonhunters.

I'm thinking of redoing my Space Marine army so that it's less ramshackle. It was the first army I collected, and I just kinda got what I wanted to build/paint, rather than making a coherent list.
