Babbalui Farsight is a much better choice for a commander, in my opinion. wink It's too bad you are REQUIRED to have one normal commander. Farsight would be good as a primary. sweatdrop You shouldn't idolize him so much. He and his black hole guard can get raped so badly very easily.

you keep saying this sanity, but you dont elaborate. Im not disagreeing with you, but why dotn you say why.
Such as this army would do this, this army does that. Because of so and so inherant weakness they cant buyback their points. This situation easily ******** them over, whatever. just some details if youre going to keep bringing up your dislike of Farsight.

This situation easily ******** them over, whatever. just some details if youre going to keep bringing up your dislike of Farsight. I've said it a few times before. Regular Plasma weapons and other heavy-ish weapons will destroy the 7 man body-guard and possibly Farsight himself. Im not against Farsight with a few others, but sinking a ton of points on 7 bodyguard is just ridiculous. Its too much of a target that will instantly be presented as a great threat and therefor taken out first.

Wow, I hate to say I agree with captain1, but that's the long and the short of it. Sometimes the "big scary target that doesn't actually kill anything" is your best asset.
God knows it works for Orks.
"HAHA! Finally killed all those nobz! 500 points down the drain!" "Yes, and now my boyz are slamming into your lines untouched."

well, I saw something like that in a battle recently: combined Deathwing/Ravenwing army attacked SAFH Tau. In the first Tau turn, 2 squads of Deathwing and Belial were evaporated, there was no more Tau shooting then as Ravenwing entered hth and stayed there, rolling from one Tau unit to another...

FlashbackJon captain1 -.- you hate to agree with me -.- Don't feel offended - I hate to agree with anyone. domokun domokun yet you often end up agreeing with me whether youre aware of it or not.
As for the topic. I think 7 is a bit much, however how often is someone going to have the heavy weapons to wipe 8 people out in a turn or two. Itd take a few turns before theyre gone, not to mention thats assuming they havent had turns of movement outside of the line of sight, or outside the weapon range. And of course thats a lot of points, but you still have at least two troop units doing something right?

Well, they are not just moving, hard-to-kill targets. rolleyes With the right weapons and a semi-intelligent owner you can do massive damage with them before they are taken down, IF they are taken down! On top of the damage they do, you have a whole line of firewarriors mowing down anything that draws too near, plus the heavy units blasting their tanks and special units out of the water. Farsight and his body guard are a hard-to-kill, major pain in the a**. They cause lots of damage and still draw all of the enemy's fire, allow the rest of the army to blast the s**t out of everything else. Who cares if you lose farsight and his squad? You would have won the game by that time!

captain1 i want farsight but army isnt 1500 points its like 200 domokun you cant really have an army with 200points? farsight alone will chew up your points... Oh and this is just a thought. wouldn't buffing up the farsight's squads with sheild gen's or sheild/gun drones help alot with survivability? i mean yeah it'll be expensive, but an invesment. i mean cant we simply put a pro and con list and then judge his army? Pro's-Pretty power -Can be engineered to take on any form of enemy -can be a very strategic unit - extremely flexible with monvouring along the battle field (except for the foot print) Cons-expensive -chews up the points -quite a big foot print (if you ask me, it'll , make the JSJ inneffective...) -big threat, unless your playing against someone who's blind or has a visual imparement. im sure they'll figure out that a seven man squad of battle suits with PR's can do something scary... -each unit carries alot of points. even if you lose one suit. you'll lose quite a bit.

Well depending on how you look at it some of those cons could be considered pros. As for Farsight I have yet to use him so I am not sure wetehr I actualy like him or not.

Meh. Farsight is interesting and all, but I'm not all that impressed with his new rules. I liked his "counts as a Monstrous Creature in CC" rule over his new ability to take 7 bodyguards. Back in the day, he couldn't be singled out by incoming fire because he wasn't a MC, and he was an Independent Character. But then he'd charge and all of a sudden he counted for 10 models for outnumbering purposes, crushed Marines left and right and caused squads to break all the time. Now he has the armor penetration of a Monstrous Creature, but none of thew ancillary benefits.
Sure, his new ability is nice, but I'd rather have more units on the table than a super-sized retinue.
