So I'm curious today! Why did all you lot register on Gaia to begin with? OGAWG is one of the few places I actually post in, sure, but it's not like that's what initially attracted me to the website.
Alas, no. Back in I guess 2003 the "Life of Riley" webcomic was high on my internet routine, and I joined Gaia Online after Cowkitty made a site-blog-post to pimp how adorable the little avatar builder was.
So yes! Cute customizable people, a guilty pleasure for many. Myself included.
Also I'm shocked as to the degree that ... I feel terrible saying this, gosh, but ... Cowkitty doesn't seem to have, er, improved significantly since 2003 or whenever. Maybe I'm just internet jaded by so much beautiful artwork everywhere...

Used to be a RPer on Yahell Chat (till we couldn't create user rooms anymore), and I once asked someone where she got her character profile art. Was linked to two places, one of them being Gaia. Only joined it a year later, but didn't start artwhoring till some time later due to lack of funds.
Why I joined Gaia...I have no clue, lol. It wasn't really the RP, nor was it the art nor the avatars. Maybe I was bored and decided to give it a shot? xd

I'd gotten into artwhoring via entering contests, as I recall. For the first while I was on Gaia I really didn't do .. anything .. with the website, much. I entered in the Art Arena, voted in said arena, and mostly limited my forum perusal to the exchange.
I hadn't even checked out the other forum sections, probably primarily due to something similar to Audley's "coming to Gaia to laugh at people." What lured me in to art contests was incidentally Kamiki's halo search.

I was already artwhoring with real money when I joined here and I didn't know about the R&C. I was hanging in the Entertainment forum battling the Anti-fangirl guild XD what a geek.
Then I saw one of mango-boo's sexy drawings in a sig and wanted one so I found the R&C aaand now I really only come on Gaia to look in this guild.

Probably a feature they are not planning on re-introducing.

i haven't logged on to gaia and actually stayed on for more than 2 mins in forever, so lame. i see there are a bunch of new members, belated welcome.
i joined gaia through a link in someone's sig on a forum i used to frequent. i wasn't sure what it was, but i signed up for an account and donated a day after. this was in '05 when the guitars came out and people were ready to slice lanzer's head off for such crappy DIs. that was the last gaia saw of my money for another 3 years haha. dramallama
i wasn't around for gaia personals but that combination of words sounds just horrific.
