beaniegurl_92 How does everybody feel about Mitchell Lurie reeds. i wont to buy some reeds but ive only used the ones we can buy from school witch are usually vandoran. ive also used the rico. i want something i can use for both marching and concert. one i can blast on and wont have it go out on me and make me sound horrible or one i can play really..... concert.... on. any ideas??? I personally like Michel Lurie reeds more than Vandoran... but my band director likes Vandoran by far better (he attempts at being a sales man for them (although he doesn't get paid for it))

Satzuni Kay5295 Satzuni vampiress911 it doesn't matter what tpe of ligature you have. just try a new reed or tighten your embouchure. btw, how long have you been playin, and who uses cloth ligatures? Actually, Ligature means a lot when it comes to tone. A 20 dollar Luyben is a lot better than the metal ligatures because the Luyben secures the reed in a different way then the normal ones do. That makes the reed vibrate better for better tone, and easier sound. Ligature means a lot. thank you. :] i'm getting moved up to symphonic band next year, and my band director says i'm talented enough to be in one of the higher chairs if i can improve. so i really want to sound good and improve. i'm currently on two waiting lists for lessons. Well if you're in it for tone, then I suggest the black (Or clear) Luyben ligatures... They're like 12-20 bucks (really cheap compared to the metal ones) and they're really good... PLUS, I'd also suggest some good Vandoren reeds (Their best make is the 2 and a halves. If you're three, it's not very different. If you're two, you just need to tighten up your embouchure a little bit). You can try sanding them, but all that really does is adjust you to a size in between two. It'll only help you if you can't get a size up, or half-size down to work. I know Vandoren reeds are expensive (REALLY expensive) but they're totally worth it. They're a French brand, and they also make a REALLY good B45 mouthpiece. Now don't go and buy a B45 (Which is about 100 bucks) unless you have the professional model to go with it. Professional Mouthpiece needs a professional clarinet. yeah, i currently use Vandoren reeds, and i'm pretty sure i have 2's. i'm just too lazy to go look right now. haha. thanks for the help!

Brenden von Fabre @ arata-chou
I'm just asking, but does it squeak in every note, or just some? Sometimes my bass clarinet squeaks when something doesn't seal properly. Check your pads and springs. Makes sure the screws are all in and make sure that the mouthpiece isn't broken either.
Off course these are just suggestions, because this is just what usually happens to me.
@ ShikyoAmataka
You play contrabass? LUCKY! I so wish I was you!
-----
Anyways I've been in band for five years. I've play bass clarinet in concert band and Bb clarinet in cadet mil band.
I also play other instruments.. just not clarinet related. thanks for that help it sorta helped but it worked but then it started to do it again

D:. The only downer is that this store is in L.A and I live 45 mintues away from it crying crying crying .
Konfanatic-don't say that!!! just keep on practicing biggrin heart

I'm a bit different when t comes to my Clarinet. My other friends in my section all named theirs, I name my reeds. They are just as important and the instrument themselves and I haven't met anyone who has given them an identity so I went super geek and named mine. I'm useing Ricky right now. He is kinda new and hates bad weather.

and thats horrible!!!!!! :[ I think the best gift you can give him is to be the best band he's conducted in years biggrin !!!!!
><; yeah, I get where your going with the new director thing, I mean i haven't had a new director for almost four years [our JS bd go the job as our HS bd this year...previous band director was better even though he was the mean strict director...] but I've been in youth programs and I've attended clinics with conductors, all of them being orch conductors too, the way they conduct is beautiful and abstract it makes it hard to follow but I love it! sweatdrop thats off topic sorry
