Toby had played plenty of darts in his day, and baseball as a teen plus the added lycan musculature made for some decent force behind his throws. His first dart missed and he shook his head as if deeply disappointed with himself. The second two struck home hard.
"Alright," the carnie said, "You can pick anything from this level." The prizes were rather small but varied greatly. Really for all the work and money it took to play the games you'd think they'd offer some better prizes, but that was how they got you. Toby gestured for Maia to choose.

Maia selected a tiny wolf. She offered it to Toby with a smile. "Here," she said, "For you." She Cook his hand. "Want to play another game, or go on some rides?" she asked, looking towards the ferris wheel. "We could go on that one."

Toby smiled and shook his head but accepted the small gift. He was reminded once more of how tiring Maia could be as she bounced from activity to activity with intense curiosity. She had been with them long enough that Toby had grown to find it somewhat charming, but that didn't make it any less exhausting. He nodded and peered up at the cars of the ferris wheel.
"Sure. You're not afraid of heights, are you?"

"Nah," Maia said, looking up. "It doesn't go upside down or anything," she observed, as she watched it. "Want to buy tickets?" she asked. They needed those, didn't they? Toby had said it wasn't good to eat before a ride; or she might have suggested cotton candy.
"Dari want to come?"

Dari nodded. Yes, he'd like to come a bit more than he'd like to give the lovebirds some time alone and the cars were made for four. Himself, Toby, Maia and the enormous mouse would fit perfectly. He reached out in an offer to take said mouse from Maia so she could be more free to interact.
"Mmhm," Toby agreed. He looked around for a ticket booth and found one just a bit of a ways back, before the games booths. "I'll be right back." He'd buy a fair amount, he decided. It was always more than one ticket to get on a ride and then Dari might be more willing to go on the upside-downy spinny sorts of rides with him even if Maia was afraid. There was plenty to do aside from the ferris wheel, though, that he didn't think would be too intense for the young woman.

Maia gave Dari the mouse easily, pleased he agreed to come on the ride with them. She followed Toby to the ticket booth, smiling. "Do you think we can go on that one?" She pointed towards the tilt a whirl. It looked fast, but it also looked fun! "Lets eat afterward."
They bought the tickets and soon they were in line for the ferris wheel. "What's your favorite ride?" She asked.

"Sure," Toby agreed, mashed up in him giving the number of tickets he wanted, receiving them and paying the attendant. As they left the booth he peered over at the tilt-a-whirl and nodded. "That's a good one. There are a couple of other ones too I think you'd like. Then we can eat."
Dari was waiting patiently for them inside the imaginary boundary behind the ticket booths and offered a smile when they were finished.
"Um. I don't know. I don't think I really have one," Toby admitted. "As a kid I remember there was this kiddie roller coaster I loved. There wasn't much to it, but when you're small it's pretty exciting.

Maia looked to Dari. "Do you have a favorite?" she asked him, smiling. He'd only been to one once, hadn't he? Maybe he had a favorite from last time. She looked around for a kiddie roller coaster like Toby described and pointed to one. "Like that?" she asked.

"Yeah," Toby said with a smile as he turned toward the coaster, "Just like that, except it was a train, not a dragon."
Dari was thinking on the question Maia had posed. The giant white mouse was now getting a piggy-back ride. "I think maybe the swings." He pointed to the seats high up in the air, going in a circle. "It feels like flying."

Maia looked up at the swings. She watched them spin, and looked a bit apprehensive. "We could go on that," She said. It didn't turn in any unpredictable way and didn't go up and down like a yoyo. It must be safe. "Flying without an airplane would be nice." It must have been nice, for those entities with wings.
She still didn't like airplanes. "Did you see anything else you'd like to go on?"

Toby answered for him. "I was thinking maybe the Sizzler?" Dari would of course be the one crushed with who ever he went on with. "Or that thing." It went forward increasingly quickly and then backward increasingly quickly on a small track, but never went very high, while blasting dance music. "And that thing is cool too." He pointed to an ambiguous UFO-shaped ride that revealed nothing on the outside but a set of stairs leading up to it.

All the rides Toby suggested were agreeable, it seemed. Maia gave no objection, at least. "That one looks like a spaceship," she observed, looking to the last one Toby pointed out. "Ferris wheel first," she said. "I bet it's a great view up there."

"Well, what people like to think spaceships look like, yeah," Toby agreed. They got in line just as they began loading new people onto the ferris wheel. They didn't get to pick their car, but it was easy enough to slide up the bar and climb in underneath. Then they began to move and stop, move and stop as they loaded each car.

Maia took a seat besides Toby, watching the car in front of them as they moved while loading up. Even loading was fun. Cars all loaded, the ride began to pick up pace, pausing every once in a while to give the cars at the top a view.
"I don't think we'll see your house," Maia said. "When do they all light up?"

As the car rode up, Toby's arm found its way around the back rail and Maia. He wasn't touching her, exactly, but he was definitely comfortable.
"No, we're a bit too far," he said. "When does what light up? The rides? Just before nightfall. We'll be able to see it while we eat at least."
