Just as Dani was about to reach again, Chessie caught sight of the glimmer, and this time was able to focus on it before it disappeared! Letting everything else become side noise, Chess leaned forward on her shoddy broomstick and rocketed as fast as the thing would allow. While she was hovering, the broom had been a bully, but at this speed it was manageable. She made sure to keep both eyes glued to the snitch, not letting it out of her sight. Now understanding just how hard it was to spot, there was no way she’d let it escape.

spaceJazzy was incredibly pleased with herself when she managed to land a hit on the captain. Not just any hit, either. It'd been a damn good one! The pride managed to somewhat ease her worries about how hard she'd hit Gid, since it at least hadn't been quite that bad. In any case, she wasn't overly eager to hit him again, so she figured she was better off picking a different person on the red team to aim at. Just as the thought occurred, she noticed one of the red team beaters taking aim at one of her teammates. She narrowed her eyes and sped ahead, attempting to intercept the bludger and hit it off its course towards Ari and back at the older girl who'd hit it, Nina.

She frowned, reminding herself that, worst comes to worst, she just wouldn't make the team, which she didn't really want to be on, anyway. She was just here for Joel. But he had other options for Seeker backup, so it didn't really matter how hard she sucked. Still, she shook her head, rolled her shoulders, and went right back to looking for the damn thing. She wasn't about to be bested by an enchanted piece of metal.

Chess pressed harder on the stupid loaner broom, bringing it faster and faster out of sheer willpower. It wasn’t the best, but she could get it up to snitch-catching speed if she really tried. She kept her gaze in front of her at the shiny snitch, making note of what it looked like in action for later use. Having fun now, she let out a laugh of joy just to be flying this fast. A few yards more and she might be able to reach.

So close now! Chessie had the loaner broom almost up to its limit, but she was sure that it could match the snitch’s speed. The little golden ball wasn’t pleasant to keep up with; it loved to play tricks on her, swerving this way and that. Chess wasn’t an expert on a broom, and was clumsily making the maneuvers she needed to make to follow it. Still she kept up, and was nearing the point where she’d feel confident enough to make a grab for it.

Chessie finally brought the broom within a meter of the snitch. She didn’t have to look so hard to see it now, and it was within arm’s reach. She’d come to know that it’s behavior was erratic, so actually catching the thing was going to be tricky. Nervously, Chessie drew in a deep breath and went for it, never taking her eye off the target.

When Dante told him good job, the blonde issued a grin. "Nice catch again, Dante!" He watched the keeper toss toward one of the twins, so Gid swooped over to try and steal. Gryffindor, Sixth Year Arianna yelped as a bludger smashed into the side of her chest. She hadn't even noticed the thing coming and had no defense up what-so-ever. Their was definitely pain with each intake of breath which could only mean she had to have a few broken ribs. The red head focused her eyes on Gid who now had the quaffle. Without trying to move too much she went in for a steal.
