Though, Naruto had already seen the shudders, and the trembling. He would usually be the kind to ask him what was wrong, but today, he had decided against it. Ryland had left his own problems at rest, like the reason as to why he lived in a place such as this. And in return, he wouldn't ask Ryland anything he seemed uncomfortable with. It wouldn't be fair to, after all.

But it did make him think on his own life as well, remembering back to why he -was- here. People didn't just come to asylums for no reason. Usually people would come of thier own accord if they felt mentally ill, but this asylum wasn't for those sort's of people, this was an asylum that wasn't really optional. It was where you was practically dragged into if you was a danger to yourself or society. More of a prison because someone was worried about you, or you had been saved from a prison sentance by pleading insanity, or having a doctor do it for you.

When he had practically broke down in court, he had blacked out to find himself in this place, with Alice peering over him checking his pulse. The reason behind it was still foggy. But he just figured that someone, someone had really pushed the line again. And this world just wasn't prepared for the Kyubi's power like Konoha was.

He shivered softly, running his free hand over the seal under his shirt. He had gained a lot of control over the Fox, the evidence showing in his tails, all nine of them. But at exactly the same time, the Fox had grown a lot of control over him, causing his temper to worsen ten-fold over the time.

Tightening his grip slightly on Ryland's hand, he stopped outside a metal door amongst many others in a hall. The singular mark that set Narutos out from the others: The Leaf of Konoha, melded into the metal casing of the door, singing the middle.

"This is my room." He announced rather quietly, for him anyway. He didn't really want to awake the other's around, and simply opened it, leading Ryland in and shutting the door again. Though didn't lock it unless Ryland wanted him to, and went to sit down on his bed.

The walls were padded and singed, and there were two beds, one on either wall, one made up neatly, un-used. The other a mess from where Naruto couldn't be bothered to make it up in the morning. There was also a rather un-used toilet. For incase going to the public one was not an option. There was also a chest of drawer's with Naruto's things, and various Kunai's, throwing stars, scrolls and empty ramen packets scattered amongst the floor and walls.

Ryland closed his eyes when he felt Naruto's grip tighten gently on his own hand, but he didn't seem to mind. No, not at all, why would he? They were friends, and Ryland felt safer with someone so caring around... Just as protective as Jeph - if not more - and yet not obsessive over his well being like his big 'brother.'

Slowly opening his eyes when Naruto spoke, he looked upon the door and smiled softly when he was led into the room. Taking a quick glance around, he didn't bother to thoroughly look at the place. Details mattered little to Ryland. Living conditions were trivial and nothing of importance to the cat. After all, he was not one to judge living conditions. He lived with a house load of personalities that clashed with one another and caused quite a bit of chaos.

The fact that Naruto lived in an asylum was of little to no importance as well. Friends were friends, no matter where they lived, or who they liked or disliked. It didn't even matter who they were, so long as they were true friends... and a true friend wouldn't run away just because of where one lived.

Oddly enough, the asylum didn't even bother him. The way Ryland saw it, was that he and his house mates belonged in one themselves. That may be an odd way of thinking... But Ryland never claimed to be 'normal' now did he? Thoughts crossed his mind and collided with other thoughts, but he walked to the unused bed and sat on it, purring softly as he closed his eyes.

Opening them, he smiled over to Naruto and thought for a few moments before he finally said something, his voice gentle and tender - as usual. "It's cozy." A little giggle as he set his orange eyes upon Naruto. Ryland wasn't joking - that much could be seen in his eyes. He was completely serious when he said it, despite the giggle. It was cozy, at least to the cat it was...

Naruto couldn't help but give a little chuckle. "Yea.. the walls practically hug you. But at least they're soft." He said, punching the wall behind him, the cushion absorbing the hit in it's spongey pad.
"At least insulation isn't a problem, though it still gets pretty cold if you don't try and heat it up." he sighed softly, shivering already.

The climate here was quite different to that in japan. And the heating in the asylum wasn't the greatest in the world, as the building was quite outdated. Which was little surprize by the fact it looked more like an old fashioned prison.

"I should warn you.. this place is practically like a huge family house. With a huge family inside. Only some people don't know each other, as there's so many people. It's pretty chaotic and things tend to go haywire, just like in a normal family.. though.. when a fight breaks out, things get pretty bad." He fiddled with his hands, remembering the ammount of fights he had started here. "You can't even guarantee sleeping at night sometimes... Sometimes people come in your room without warning, not being able to tell which door is theirs."

Ryland smiled softly and stood up, walking over to Naruto to put a hand on his shoulder as he raised a brow and gave a very light giggle. Glancing to the door, he eyed the lock and shook his head before walking back to the bed he was to use. Sitting down on it, he gave a very light shrug and shook his head again.

"Every family has it's blackest moments... and that includes very ugly fights, or people randomly wandering into your room. The bottom line of it is that if you think of it as a family, then after each fight, after each lost person leaves your room, you're still a family and you always will be."

Ryland paused lightly and gave a very light chuckle.

"You may tell me otherwise, but I kind of wish I had a family big enough to fill this entire place... Then maybe sometimes I wouldn't feel so lonely. Jeph is practically family... but... he obsesses over my health, like a mother hen or something."

Ryland giggled and shook his head softly before grinning up at Naruto, "Besides, if I was worried about anything, don't you think I would have locked the door already? Point is I don't mind where you live or who you live with - you're still Naruto and you always will be. That's the important part. If someone wanders in and chaos rises while I'm here... so what? I'm tough, I can manage, I've been through very traumatic things before. Nothin' I don't think I can handle, and you'll still be the same Naruto I made friends with in the first place. So nothing is going to change, m'kay? Don't worry so much."

He smiled softly, and laid back on his bed, before wincing, sitting up and flinging a kunai to the floor. He laid back once more and sighed. "Thank's Ryland, You really are the greatest. I don't really consider anyone here my family.. but then, I suppose in a way, I would stand up for anyone here if they got into trouble outside. even unconsciously. And they'd do the same. We're all rather one of a kind.. and we're bonded by the same common ground - we're all nut jobs, supposedly."

He laughed softly, thinking. "Thank's for staying here with me, you didn't need to, but I apreciate it." He said, leaning up on his arms and smiling at the cat, his tails flicking. "Would you like something to eat before you go to bed? I smuggled in some candy ages ago."

Ryland smiled contently and nodded his head in understanding. The people at his home were the same way. Even though he and Elijah fought, and he really disliked him now more than ever over what he said to Naruto.. he would still stand up for him. Then again, Ryland was just that way. He had a hard time holding a grudge when people were in a time of need.

"I know the feeling.." He said softly before his ears perked at the mention of candy. My oh my... Ryland did enjoy candy. It was foreign to him, and it was always so sweet and each one was unique. "I do have a sweet tooth. How did you guess?" Ryland gave a soft giggle.

"Don't sweat it, I'm more than happy to stay over with you. It's like a sleep over... I guess. Besides, if I left I would have just come back.
You know that, right? Oh, and you're the one who is the greatest, Naruto."

Naruto simply laughed, rubbing his head before putting his HEad band on the bedside cabnet, then reached under his bed and handed Ryland a few candy bars.

Smiling, he got up and quickly got into his pj's before curling up on his bed with his own candy, biting into it. "I suppose you shouldn't really eat sugar before you sleep, but it always seems to calm me down anyway." He laughed softly. "We don't get that many candy bars back where i'm from, so I kinda got addicted."

Ryland giggled and laid down on his stomach, opening up a candy bar as he put his legs in the air, crossing his feet at the ankles lightly as he bit into the bar and smiled. Waiting until he had fully chewed and swallowed the piece of candy, he nodded and looked over towards his friend.

"Same here. Before I came here I didn't even know that there was any food other than fish and berries. I guess that's what happens when you're born and raised in a tribe in the middle of the mountains."

Ryland giggled and grinned softly. He really did miss it back home... And he missed it more than ever thinking about it, but he knew in his heart that this was where he belonged. Here, with his friends. Besides, if he ever needed to feel like he was home, he could find Tae and spend time with him for a bit.

There likely was candy back at Naruto's home, but usually only in carnivals. He was usually far more intrested in Ramen to notice though. He sighed softly as he thought about it, before looking to Ryland.

"You know.. ninjas sometimes go and train in mountains on thier own and things. They aparantly become a lot stronger and wiser from it.. I guess that's why your so smart. You've lived up there for quite some time havn't you? Maybe I should try and go camping one day.."

It might help him train after all. Just because he wasn't in Konoha anymore didn't mean he wasn't going to one day become a hokage.

Ryland tilted his head to the side as he finished off the first candy bar, looking around for where he could dispose of the wrapper at, despite the fact that there were empty packets of ramen on the floor. Blinking, he raised a brow and tilted his head to the side lightly.

"I wouldn't say I'm smart, but thank you for the compliment, Naturo," He said lightly with a big grin before tilting his head to the side softly, reaching up to scratch his ear as his tail flicked about behind him. "I lived there practically all my life up until a couple of months ago."

Cocking his head to the other side, his ears twitched and he smiled lightly, closing his eyes and nodding his head lightly. "If you go camping up there, be careful with the animals. They're more sensative than most would think. It may sound weird, but talking to them when they come around will make them feel at ease and eventually, they'll protect you from those with harmful intentions. Bears are the best... And you'll never taste fish as good as those in the river that runs through the mountains."

Naruto smiled, before sitting up. "You see, right there. You may not have a high I.Q.. yoou might not be considered a genius or have lots've degrees and certificates. But You know a lot about the wildlife and nature and things. That makes you really smart, and you learnt it from experiance, unlike others who just read about things. THat's teh best way to learn I think." He smiled warmly at the cat, before getting up and pulling out a bucket from somewhere that was likely meant to be the bin, and put it by Ryland's feet.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 14, 2006 3:43 pm

Ryland smiled softly and dropped the wrapper into the bucket before tilting his head to the side. Did knowing about nature first hand from experience really make someone smart? Oh, maybe it was kind of like Darius... That cat had 'street smarts' and he had.. 'nature smarts'? No, that didn't sound right. Oh well, it was a nice compliment none the less.

"Thank you, Naruto," Ryland said softly as he blushed. "You know what I miss about my tribe the most? All the little kids... I used to take them down to the stream for their baths, I used to read to them, tuck them in... In my tribe there was one person that looked over all the children, and I was chosen for that, so the parents could go about doing what they were chosen to do... I miss all those children... So cute, you would have liked them, Naruto."

"Children can be fun.." He remembered his "little brother" Back at konoha, and chuckled to himself. "Yes.. I've never really looked after one.. Tried teaching one how to do a technique once. I'm not cut out to be a teacher. But.. It must be really hard work to look after so many children." He though about this. "Have you ever wanted to adopt? Or even.. There's a lot of ghost children around here...Though that might be too tricky." He sweatdropped.

"I'm sure you'll make a great parent one day anyway." He concluded with a nod, sitting back down on his bed.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 14, 2006 4:04 pm

Ryland's ears twitched and he blushed softly, nodding his head as he bit his bottom lip a bit, "I've always wanted kids of... my own... And adopting is never out of the question for me." Pausing, he raised a brow. Ghost children? That did sound a bit trickey. "Ghost children does sound a bit trickey, but if I'm usually always up for a challenge when it comes to children."

Ryland gave off a little giggle. After all, every child could be a little trickey, and a ghost child would just be... extremely hard to keep track of, but he would still manage if he had one.. Wouldn't he? Trying to push the thoughts of children from his mind he rested his cheeks in his palms, trying to hide his blush. "Thank you, Naruto. I'm sure you'd be a great parent, too."

"Ah hah.." He laughed awkwardly, rubbing the back of his neck. "I don't think i'd be that great with children at all.. They'd likel.. annoy me after some time.. I couldn't have a child 24/7... Though.. Maybe if i did have my own.. i'd feel differently.." He shrugged at the thought. "We'll have to see sometime in the far future."

He grinned at Ryland though. "Though... I've seen weird spirit things floating around that store recently... They come from these orbs and eventually grow into a fully grown Anthro... I suppose that's a similar thing.. Only.. they're not actually babies, they're like.. spirit things."
