If Kenshiro can take bullets to the chest, and if Biscuit Olivia can take a shotgun blast to the forearms with nothing but a bruise, then in Gaia, someone's character should be able to take a bullet. The problem has always been with people thinking its broken to have a character take a gun blast, no less an armor piercing bullet or a sniper round. It's more of a frowned on thing. I always had this problem with wondering if I should have Yusuke stand and take bullets. I have done this a few times, but only with him using his spirit energy at powerful levels to be his excuses.
Considering that people can break stone with their fists, I'm sure people take attacks that equal the power of bullets, if not more, everyday, so to take a bullet shouldn't be something to be whined on by either side should the character be fit for such a defense.

It's not just that, you don't stand there while somebody draws a gun and shoots you. Duck behind cover. Make a shield. Start moving so that you aren't as easy to get a bead on. You return fire with a power or otherwise. All but the last one any normal, fit, person could do.
While it doesn't guarantee survival, it does give plenty of space to move around without being turned into hamburger.

Arian's human. Plain and simple.
I've fought people who had guns-and turned out alright. She hates them personally however.
I just mean-you point and shoot. It's hard to have fun with them, if you're the user. Get creative.
Ever watched Equilibrium? They have a fictional martial art called Gun Kata in the movie. (Good film, by the way) I try to portray that with Arian, that she knows the defensive portion of it, her quick and genius mind able to plot out the angles and probabilities-but that's hard to play without sounding like bullshit, because it's FICTIONAL.
*Still likes it* So yeah.
But yeah, no powers~ And I'm laughing my a** off as my charrie hauls a** to dive into the pool. xD
I wish she had some abilities, sometimes-but I rather like that about her character that she does not. *Nods*

Taking a bullet is acceptable within certain communities where higher level characters are encouraged. However, the majority of these places are also full of roleplayers who are.. not so great, or not particularly nuanced in the ways of roleplay. Like a lot of Commerce, for example.
A majority of the community that attends tournaments and events like this one seems to play at a lower level. So, going beyond what's the rough "level" of accepted power without reason (like the character being undead) is going to be somewhat frowned upon

I also have the bad habit of taking damage because I thought it was cool. Well, I'm told that's a bad habit.

Though with her other set of armor...
But that's hardly any fun.
I really should start playing with my other characters-but Arian's just my favorite, right now, to fight with.

I wish players who used mainly upper tier characters didn't feel compelled to type like Argonon. But those players only seem interested in fighting than character development which is pretty boring. =(

Stereotypically, the higher in character strength you go (or, the ridiculous manner in which it's explained or made), the more verbose and ponderous the writing, until you get to the point where the person is just cramming in words to try and come across as intelligent or superior. Or, the higher you go with less explanation, the more likely you are to be talking about someone named something like XX_DEMON_DEVIL_CLOUD_XXX who lurks in the rafters of the local vampire bar and cuts himself to sleep every night. Very rarely are higher power characters played right.

Or try. Not too good at it, I'mma thinking.
No one said the fighting can't cause development-but rather that sometimes, the focus is ONLY on winning. And like...not even sportsmanlike winning...
OR ENTERTAINING WINNING.
I'd lay down and die every time if something epic were to cause it.
