Because it's the best kit! Only better option is to give it Daemonic Flight along with that and Mark of Slaanesh. That way you get Warp Scream and lower your enemy's initiative, ensuring the first attack.
God, the Warp Amp was an INCREDIBLE upgrade for Dreadnoughts.

Okay, are we all remembering the older codex now and how it clearly outdid the newer one? I MISS MY DAMN KHORNATE CHAINAXES. THEY WERE AWESOME. I miss a lot from this codex... And I still like the newer one's stuff, too. Especially the Thousand Sons. But to counter that, I really wish they kept the Bedlam Staff. THAT thing. Was awesome. Awf, the Bedlam Staff was bloody overpowered. Thunderhammer that strikes at initiative...
Well, now I've got an Apocalypse match for tomorrow. I'm being allowed to use a unit of Terminators with...Mark of Chaos Ascendant! ******** yeah!
Also, I'm going to take a "masters of chapter" formation, using the four marked characters from the codex, along with Fabius and Huron. I'm reeeeeally pumped for this.
On the down side, I'm going to be fighting Ang'rath, Scabieathrax, 7 Bloodthirsters, and 6 Great Unclean Ones.

Terrible. Remember this: Strength D does nothing to Daemons, given that they're immune to Instand Death. Bloody terrible. Wark.
Biggest things: I had too many expensive units. I took a large number of Terminus Ultra pattern Land Raiders, along with four Shadowswords, and five units of Havocs with 4 Lascannons each. That's not to say they didn't have some effect, though.
Ang'rath and Scabieathrax are terrifying to behold. Ang'rath is immune to S4, and Scabieathrax is immune to S5. In the end, it just makes things hella difficult. Also, the daemons were making about 90% of their Invuln rolls, so I was hosed.

Damn. DX I haven't played against a Daemon army personally, but I have looked into the codex... Nasty things. Makes me glad I want them as a second army. Combine them and the Chaos Space Marines for Apocalypse games, you have something that the other team will hate, with a passion. Dude, it's true. Plague Marines + Epidemius = terrifying. After things with Mark of Nurgle kill 20+ enemies, they all have Feel No Pain on a 3+ (if they had Feel no Pain to start), Noxious Touch (Poisoned weapon, wounds on a 2+), and have Power Weapons.

I'm just stating the final effect in the end game. The other wonderful thing that you can do with a list this is use Daemon Princes of Nurgle. They can give and take a LOT of punishment, especially with Warptime and Wings. Get them into CC as fast as possible.
Also, DPs of Nurgle followed by Dreadnoughts are a great way to break an enemy line, especially if the Dreads go Fire Frenzy and are closer to the enemies. I had one kill off a 10 man squad of Marines with 4 Autocannon shots and two Heavy Flamer blasts.

What's the difference between the usual Chaos space marines, Plague marines, Noise marines and the Thousand sons? I'm assuming they all have their own special rules maybe?
(This may be common knowledge to most, but I'm new to the game.)

You know, reading the codex would answer your question. But I'm going to assume that you don't yet own it.
Normal CSM are just that. Normal, cheap, and capable of taking from the whole gamut of special and heavy weaponry.
Plague Marines are one of the most survivable units in the game. They're more expensive than normal CSM, but they're T4(5) and have Feel No Pain, meaning that they're damned hard to kill.
Noise Marines are one of the best spam-shooting units in the game. They can be upgraded to carry a Sonic Blaster (effectively a Storm Bolter) that has the option to fire as a Heavy 3 weapon. Also, the squad can take a Blastmaster, which is a very good gun.
Thousand Sons are made to be anti-Heavy-Infantry. They're Slow and Purposeful, which means they can always fire full range, and they're equipped with Inferno Bolts which give them the ability to chew through all but the very heaviest of armor.

You assume correctly. I've only played games with a friends Eldar against Orks, so I don't know much. I'm thinking of getting a CSM army of my own. Was just wondering what the difference was.

(This may be common knowledge to most, but I'm new to the game.) Congratulations, you've listed the armies from most worn out and boring to least on your very first try. You'll be a Chaos Champion yet.
Also, you forgot Berzerker: the close combat specialist of chaos. Typically you see them in Khornite army, though you can take Noise, Rubric, or Plauge marines in any list if you want to break fluff or just plain power play.
