I was wondering what chapter I could build that has there own codex so I wouldn't have to get the space marine codex. it's going to just (start) as a 40k in 40minute's patrol thing 400 point's deal. I just want to get a feal for painting and playing different army's. I was looking at my old SM codex with the crimson fist's, and saw the raptor's, white scar's, and some chapter can't remember the name that has a half white half blue color scheme. any help would be appreciated.

please note I already play templar and I"m sick of black stressed

You still have to get the Marine codex, as the Chapter codex are only expansions off it.

well if you want another closeup army choose the blood angels, their honor guard can be bread into the only squad ((other than khorne bazerkers)) that can whipe a full conscript platoon out in one turn, and since they count as a comand squad you can have one of each comander in it! also, the death company can be an invincible force, no point cost, cheep upgrades and a chaplin! but the black rage rule is their draw back. when you want to lay some heavy fire power down on the enamy with your devistators they may frenzy and move.

for a shooty army get dark angels (witch i play). their ability to have stubborn just by having a vetteren sargent is outstanding! the fact that their terminators are a mix of both assault and normal termis dosn't hurt either. their bikes and speeders are also very powerfull too, they get a special save for moving. you can also have an army of only termi's or bikes/speeders. and for a final treet you can replace lascannons for plasma cannons when lascannons are cheaper!

if you want to start out wolfs i cant help you there beacuse i dont know anyone that plays and i've never looked at the codex.

In the new Sm codex you can buy venerable dreads a skill called "furious assult" and tell you to look it up in the universal rules. I could not find it and assumed they meant furious charge. Is this what they meant?

I've been looking at the blood angel's, and that's the one I"ve been leaning toward's. I like being up close and personal dealing death to the foe's of mankind. plus it make's the game more interesting to have to manuver around a bit. can I still use the old BA codex without the marine one? and last could you give me any tips for using a blood angles army that's under 400 points (only nead's one troop) for 40k patrols'.

but I think I'm going to do both army's, dark angels also. patrol's would seam more like a shoot them and move on sourt of thing. I've been thinking squad mounted in a rhino with a veteran seargent and maybe another smaller squad out walking beside the rhino or bike's or a landspeader. Actually this one might be cheaper becae I can take all my bolter marines that don't play with my templar army paint em dark green and send them on there way.

plus I like codex's. so that work's too. just so long as the price's for them stay low I should be fine.

well blood angels i cant realy help you with except for put your death company in a rino and move up 24 inches and drop em off in cover

but for dark angels, you want 2 5 man squads, 1 with a plasma cannon, 1 with a melta gun. both with vets so they dont run. as an hq take a chaplin and 5 assault marines. i've won 14 combat patroals in a row with that list.

okay, I'll take my existing bolter marine's and make that, wich work's out really nice since I have an extra plasma cannon and a melta gun. blood angel's, I'll have to go pick up a rhino... so I think I"m going with dark angel's for now.

I can only assume so. After all, the codex is from the old version of the rulebook.
Hm, it says it again under a skill in the trait advantages. This leads me to believe it may be an actual skill. Also, furious charge would be half useless for a dread ( with CCW).

As I said, that Codex is going with the old version of the Rule Book. Odds are that they may have accidentally changed the name or something. Either way, charge and assault mean the same thing in 40k when referring to the actual Assault Phase, so odds are that the skills is furious charge.
