I got my crim paper grade emailed to me just now. I'm very pleased, so I think I'll post the email:

My criminology teacher
This is an "outstanding paper". You have thoroughly described the conditions inside [prison] and supported those descriptions with relevant supporting research. In addition, your implicit understanding of feminist theories throughout the paper is greatly appreciated and lead to a better understanding of what policy changes need to be made to rectify the conditions. Very Well Done! paper grade A

I astound even myself, I didn't think the paper was that well written at all (though I suppose I don't really know, since I didn't even read what I'd written after I typed it out... eek ) and it was a week late. I'm going to allow myself this moment of high self esteem and say that I AM AWESOME AND YOU SHOULD ALL BOW BEFORE ME! No, no, I joke. I just rock at paper writing for some reason.

That should come in handy, since I plan to go into research, and getting articles published will be exceedingly important.

Anyway, I'm off to do some research for another paper, which is sure to be even more well written. wink

Sure, no problem. I'd be curious to read your papers, actually.

You know, maybe we should have a thread for talking about school work, posting papers for critiques or whatnot. I think it would be interesting to read some of the things you guys work on in school (those of you that are in school, of course). Hmm... just an idea.

So, uh, it's prom night here where I am. I am, as you might guess, not attending. I feel vaguely disappointed. I thought that everyone that felt like, meh, sure they'd like to go to prom went. Apparently, some effort has to be put forth for this to actually happen.

I don't know. I just had this conviction, from somewhere, that people went to prom. That it wasn't something you really had to try at, you just ended up there. I know that doesn't make sense, but that's really how I thought it went. Yeah, no logic whatsoever.

I don't know why I'm even thinking about this. I haven't even thought about prom except in the most cursory of ways since they announced the date.

I never wen to my junior prom, but I did go to my senior prom with friends. it was a blast like that. I tottally agree though prom is kind of a wierd thing, and you don't usually just end up their. Although once you get their it kind of feels that way.

Its time to migrate

Geez. I planned my prom night for a long time before going. It was one of the best nights of my high school career. I loved the prom. There was drama, romance, police, and peanut butter jelly time, all in one jam-packed night of fun and scandal.

Really? What do you suppose they would be about?

Oh, I don't know, just interested to see your academic writing style as well as what you might choose for a topic if the assignment wasn't set in stone.

Aww, didn't mean to do that! I just think that you seem very well spoken (when you post here) so I figure you'd have well-written papers.

I actually went to redface 3 proms. I went to Valenhern's (otherwise known as NoRam, otherwise known as My Husband), mine, and my best friend's.

I really liked making (by making, I mean highly altering and customizing) my dress, and getting all dolled up was fun. The actual prom was pretty boring. Val, Martha, Janelle, and I left early and went to see a movie.

My prom was kind of the same thing, except a friend of mine tried to teach me how to swing dance. Then we left early, stopped by Wal-Mart, then hit IHOP.

I didn't have much time to prepare for Bear's prom. He just suddenly got it stuck in his head that no girl in her right mind would ever go to a prom with him, so he begged me to be his date. That was the first time I ever wore my Converse sneakers to a formal event.

The reason Bear had no girl to go with him was because he never asked one. There was one that wanted to go with him, but she ended up having to worm her way into it because they were both being too dumb and shy to know the other wanted them there. So, Bear had two dates to his prom. rolleyes whee

Prom is another one of those cross-border peculiarities. Some places in Canada have it and other don't. Instead of feigning the elegance of a promenade, I just had a ceremony, then a banquet/dance. None too exciting, though the after-party was the height of high school drama all year apparently. And it started with puking and the bar hosting the party misspelling our school name.

So happy I didn't go for that last bittersweet taste of high school. stare
