"What? Oh, yes, quite alright." The neckline righted itself with some difficulty as Emma blushed, some of her modesty reasserting itself.

Darling, I know that's you messing with the dress.

Can you really fault me for that? came the response in her head, a certain lustful air in the words.

Alnette grinned as she noticed Vii. "Hello, you're looking adorable right now."

With a nod she turned her attention back to Remus. "Yes, I've been thinking about holding one for a while, but I'm just now getting around to it... Now I just need a good occasion."

"Why thank you Baroness. You are looking quite regal tonight, but what is with the secrecy?" She asked when Alnette returned her gaze to Vii's direction.

Remus nodded to Emma. "Alright, if you say so. " and took a sip of his drink.

"Well, there is that one holiday they celebrate on Earth. You know, the one all about the birth of that Jew that my predecessors nailed up on two pieces of wood. Er...Christmas!" Remus suggested. "Or just some sort of Holiday Ball in general." Remus doubted that they celebrated such things in Necropolis though.

You've finally worked out the kinks in that hormone-manipulation spell, haven't you?

How did you ever guess?

Devilish wizard.

Wanton witch.

Emma's features were still flushed, the warm breeze around her continuing unabated.

Her outward appearance was a guttering candle in comparison to the inferno that blazed within her.

"Thank you.. Well I--" Alnette paused, thinking of a reasonable excuse. "I just feel like being mysterious." It was a lie, but it sounded reasonable.

Turning her attention back to Remus, she grinned. "A Holiday Ball... That works..."

"So where are you planning on holding this ball?" Remus asked.

One of the automaton guards eyed Vii for a second before resuming its normal watch routine.

Emma saw a glimmer of silver out of the corner of her eye, and stood-

What happened next was unexpected, to say the least.

The elf-woman leaped like a panther towards its prey, straight at the man who had emerged from the shadows of the Tavern, throwing her arms around his neck and exposing a good portion of her legs in the process.

They were not altogether unappealing.

"The Necropolis has a Ballroom. I'll hold it there." She looked at Remus and nodded.

"Oh." Vii said quietly having been distracted by the display in her tavern. Never before had she seen Emma behave in such a way.
"Hmm." Vii hummed before hopping off the bar and resuming her usual booth.
She soon found that it was uncomfortable because of her exuberant tail and moved to the bar stool closest to it.

Remus raised a brow at Emma's sudden reaction as her man entered. That's when he got interrupted by a call. Remus pulled out a small device and placed it on the table. A hologram of a Centurion popped up. He looked bloody and beat up.

"Ave! Sir, we need you right away! A pirate captain has rallied together a large fleet and they have broken our defenses! They've captured one of the Maltir generals are holding a few Roman merchant vessels!" the centurion cried.

"Oh for frack's sake! I leave the front for a few days and some lousy fracking pirate captain decides to grow some balls and form a fleet?" Remus put a hand over the bridge of his nose, very annoyed.

"His name is Captain Prulg. Please sir, you must send reinforcements! The Maltir have lost a few ships and our fleet has taken heavy damage!"

The Imperator let out a big sigh. "Alright I'm coming with my personal fleet. Don't get your panties in a knot." Remus said and pushed his chair out.

"Goodnight, Alnette. Goodnight, Lady Emma. Your wife has very nice legs, by the way." Remus said to Hrothbert as he called his guards and left the Tavern.

Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going to california with an aching in my heart.

Kaok was seated at the bar, a cup of tea in hand. She felt better today than she had yesterday. It was funny, the way that she had come around. She had spoken with Drennis, of all people.

"You're not sure who you are any more," the Captain said, inferring what she would never tell him. "You've always thought that by pure force of will you managed to throw off the Faun way of life. Now you find out that you're half-human and-."

"-and I know that who I am now isn't because I escaped my genetic code, but I embraced another part of it." Lt. Jayim sighed. "I know, sir."

"Only, I don't think you realize. If who you are now is who you want to be, why does it matter how you came to be that person?"

"I am honorable because it is in my blood, not because I have earned it."

"Honor isn't hereditary, Lieutenant. You see it as something we humans all have, don't you? You see Fauns as all one group with the same characteristics, and as well you think all us humans are the same. The same honorable person. We aren't, not by a long shot. It's profiling, whether or not it's good traits that you've assigned."

The Faun was silent. Haosin chose a different direction.

"You're a good person, Jayim, with a good head on her shoulders. You're a genius, an excellent swordswoman. You've earned all that. Sure, genetics helps, instinct always helps. But you are who you are because you made you that way. And Faunus help you, I hope that you can make yourself see that."

For once in her life, as she sipped her drink, she felt sure of herself.

Someone told me theres a girl out there
With love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane,
Never let them tell you that theyre all the same.

Drathi

Beloved Mage

PostPosted: Fri Nov 13, 2009 1:43 pm

Well, I did promise Vii that I'd stop by here, if I managed to get a break from my studies, Drathi thought as he stood outside the tavern. Of course, he intended to use the tavern to study and socialize--well study when he wasn't socializing. The young boy had been traveling the world learning different techniques of magic, however he only was using the elements of each technique to perfect his specialty: Ice Magic.

As he passed through the doors, he quietly found a seat and set his staff down next to him. He snapped his fingers and books upon books appeared at his table. All of them were on magic, but more specifically a forbidden art that had intrigued Drathi for a long time: The Reality Marble.

The Imperator opened the door. He wasn't looking at all well. In fact, he wasn't wearing his cover, his laurels were lopsided and his undershirt was un-tucked. His uniform appeared dirty and not as bright or squared away as usual.

Remus collapsed into the first chair he could find.

Drathi

Beloved Mage

"Rough day at work?" Drathi asked. His face was hidden by the book he was reading. He was not entirely distracted, but whenever his former "master" (he hated calling Remus that, even in his servitude) enters the room looking the way he did, Drathi could not help but ask. He turned a page of his book and continued to read. He did not understand why the Emperor could not just enjoy the life of adventure. It's far less stressful, when you do not have to worry about conquest or fighting off people on a daily basis.
