you can still use the orb thing but just add something to it. like the orbs could turn into something that the character can wear around their arm(s), neck, on their hand(s), ankle(s), etc. for example: Miyuki could have necklace thats shaped like a water drop

the orbs should look like orbs when we first see them, but after we get them but aren't using them they should change into something we can carry around like Chrome said.
