Faith jumped back when he touched her, like she had been shocked. She looked up at him, red-faced. "I'm not upset about that!"

Faith pressed her lips together and turned her back to him. "I have chores to finish," she said as she started to work again.

Faith continued to work. It was that she was upset, like Jake was suggesting. She was confused, about how she felt out Jake. Did she like him as more than just a friend?

Jake sat out in the backyard, watching the forest that surrounded them. He wondered when the girls' father would return.

Faith then finished the laundry and sighed. She didn't know what to think. She also wondered what Jake thought of her, and if he liked her the same way she liked him.
