(( xd Actually, no. She's more likely to be named after a certain Gundam Wing character. *dorkfish* *Noin fangirl* But I've always loved the name. I used it when I was briefly a part of the SCA. *prods Gaia* Sujika, did you post? Gaia claims you did, but I see no post. Did it eat it?))
The doctor's lips slowly pulled upwards. "I think this will be acceptable. Buit for future reference," The smile vanished as she looked stern again. "Please ask me first. I would have directed you to units that were older and closer to their expiration date. One should never waste blood."
"Miss vampire," Lucretia raised her voice to call out to Ruka, "You are free to stop by my clinic, though, and check if I have any older units for you."

((Sort of, but it wasn't really important, so i demanded gaia eat it, and then it was gone! ^___^ Your a Gundam Wing fan? YAY!*glomps Karill*))
There was a slightly timid squeak from around the corner. Ruka had stopped sweeping when she heard the doctor come in, almost hoping to just avoid her until she felt sure that Lucretia wasn't mad. Oh well...
The vampire poked her head out from around the corner, and nodded. "Alright...I'm...I'm really sorry again, so you know!!"She added, hoping to make it known that she hadn't ment to do anything bad. With that, she ducked back around the corner to go back to sweeping, just a little embarrased.

((83 Of course! Gundam Wing was one of my earlier animes, but I still love it! I have all five boys and Zechs standing at the base of my monitor. (Relena is stuffed behind the speaker xp ))
Lucretia nodded, "I know." Privately she wondered how anyone could see Ruka and be afraid of her solely on the basis of being a vampire if she was so cowed by an irritated doctor. Well, Ruka was certainly preferable when the rest of her kin merely viewed humans as cattle.
"Well, I need to get back to the clinic. Good day to you both," With a hint of a smile, Lucretia waved, turned, and pushed open the door, the bell sent ringing again. SHe would need to get the blood back to the clinic, tested, and separated into components before she could do anything else. Like look for Dee? Her subconcious caught her by surprise. Of course the dinner had been enjoyable, but...
Well, okay, yes, and maybe keep an eye out for Dee. She was sure the were had other things to do, being an Executioner and all, but it would be nice if they had a chance to say 'hi' today. Goodness, she was rather infatuated. It was really strange, but not unpleasant. Smiling more broadly now, she returned to the clinic and walked towards the back area, where the mini-lab was and began to work.

((Duo is my baby. #1 favorite always and forever.*glomps him repeatedly, followed by cuddling* Duo:...O.O um...kay.))
"Um...Have a nice day!"Said Ruka, as the doctor left. She hadn't said anything like that in a very long time, actually, and it felt good...very nearly like something that had been a lost sence of normalcy.
In only another few minutes, she had finished sweeping the backroom. Suprisingly, that hadn't taken as long as she assumed it would...but scrubbing the floor definately would.
Beneath the layer of dust was another layer of what appeared to be very nearly solid dirt. After the floor, she still had to dust the shelves, and clear out the cobwebs, as well as a few other things of a similar sort.
She quickly found a bucket, filled it full of warm soapy water, and then tossed in a large scrub brush. Ruka rolled up her sleeves, and put back her hair before she started pushing the brush along the floor. Back and forth, back and forth...Washing the brush off every so often, and then repeating...The little space of floor around her was starting to get clean after a while, but there was still a lot more to go.

((I love Noin!! *fangirl* Gundam Wing was my first anime! <333 I watch it every summer (and Endless Waltz every winter). I have a big poster of Wing Zero and a bunch of models. =D))
Horatio sat silently behind the counter for a few minutes, staring out the large windows, face expressionless.
He would have liked to get out of town for a day, go into the surrounding country, and wait for the rain. Take Jesse, take a backpack, leave the truck and the phone and the people. In fact, was Ruka not working for him now, he would have been very tempted. He was very tempted. He could not just leave her, though, not a Vampire and not on her first day of work. It would be incredibly unfair. He looked down at Jesse, meeting her large brown eyes. She thumped her tail restlessly against the floor.
"Bored?" Horatio reached down, petting the dog on her head. At least he was not the only one who wanted to get out.
"How's it going in there, Ruka?"

((I've got a wall-scroll of the g-boys, and a poster of heero and duo, and several self-made posters of duo. Side note, I'm throwing in a time-lapse here, just to make the cleaning go faster.))
"Not bad, really!"She said, as she put quite a lot of her weight onto the brush and pushed it forward again, taking of another of the seemingly endless levels of dirt on the floor. She was making fairly good headway, however, and now had very nearly half of the floor scrubbed clean! Suprisingly, it was a fairly nice wooden floor...And from lack of use, it was still pretty well kept. She had gotten a lot done in the time since the Doctor left....At least, it felt like a lot...But in a good way.
She liked working hard. It made her feel much better about herself, and honestly, it was a nice contrast to the way she used to never do anything but sit around and look pretty...That, had been irritating.
((hehe, if you don't like the description with the floor and all, I'll delete it, I just like wood floors a lot....I have some in my house, and they look really cool once you've just barely finished washing them. ^-^))

((Sure thing. =D
...I have a hand-made braid. XD))
Horatio nodded to the man entering the shop: a customer; it was finally getting to the part of the day when people were more likely to stop by. He waited until he had rung up the purchases and bid the other man a good day before speaking to Ruka again. It seemed that she preferred if most people were unaware of her existance.
"It sounds like you're making a lot of progress in there. Even if you don't eat anything, you're welcome to take a break when I stop for my lunch."

((oh I hate you right now....>.< I want one. Well...actually, no, I want my hair to be the right length...It was getting close for a while, then my parents insisted my brother's friend cut it for me before school started, and she took off SIX INCHES! >.< Now it only goes about 3/4 the way down my back.... crying ))
At this, Ruka was honestly delighted...It had been quite a long time since she had an actual friend, none the less a human one. "Okay,"She said happily, smiling to herself at the thought.
She was glad that the man who had come in hadn't known she was there...No, it was better that fewer people knew about her, and if they were to find out, rather slowly would be best...Sure, lots of people had seen her, but not many had seen her face. That was good.

((I've never had my hair that long. D: It's a fake braid made for an old halloween costume. xD; So you're still closer than me. I'm currently growing my hair out for a Cesare costume, though. =DD I went as Chiaro to a convention last year and my friend was Cesare, and this year I'm going to be Cesare. I haven't decided which outfit, though...))
Quite some time (and a few more customers) passed before Horatio spoke to Ruka once more. He rather liked having someone apart from Jesse to while away the waiting with.
"Later tonight, after closing up, I'm going to take Jesse out. Border collies were bred to be active dogs and she needs to do something physical or she starts getting very restless. If you aren't too tired, you are welcome to join us."

((*Cough*...And you didn't tell me this before?....I demand pictures.))
Ruka stood, and streched just a little as she beamed at the spotless floor. Now THAT, was something accomplished! When she heard the offer, she was more than happy to accept. "I'de love to! I was hoping to get some air tonight!"She said a bit blissfully. Jesse was just so cute....It was hard not to want to play with her, so if the collie wasn't too tired, Ruka would have loved to play with her.
Besides, if they went out after it was dark, she wouldn't even have to wear her Cloak, and that would be a nice change of pace...Last night when she had been out, she was alone, so it wasn't quite so entertaining...But if she was actually with people, or...rather, a person and a dog, it would probably be more fun.

Horatio smiled at the enthusiasm in Ruka's voice. It was nice to make someone happy with a simple act like the invitation, and it had been long since he had known someone like the vampire. There was a sort of innocence about her, no matter what she had seen or been through. A couple old memories flickered, and he took the time to let them form themselves into two human forms on two very different nights. Perhaps that was why he was so comfortable around her. The three of them were very similar.
"I usually take her out towards the edges of the town so she can run. If you want to stop by anywhere, we can do that too, though."

"I'de just be happy to get out a little,"She said with a bit of a laugh. She was suddenly very excited about the idea, and decided to hurry to finish cleaning as fast as she could while still doing a good job: the sooner she was done, the better!
She quickly got the broom, and started to remove the cobwebs from the ceiling that seemed just about everywhere. In only a matter of minutes, the broom looked more like a rather gross giant cue-tip than anything else. She scraped off the webs into a trash can, and looked up, checking to make sure she hadn't missed any...Nope, all clear....That mostly just left dusting.

Smirking slightly at how Jackson glanced at her and then turned away again, Dee plopped down at the counter, spreading her arms wide and drumming sharp nails on the counter. She was nice, but not nice enough not to tease with a reminder of what she was.
"Midday, Jackson. Give me whatever you've got, throw in some jam on that, but make sure there's meat somewhere in there. And it should be red." She knew it was completely disgusting, since she didn't even know what Jackson would present her with, but Dee didn't mind. If it wasn't for the fact that she'd had a crazy food "taste" since before she'd been Changed by her Mistress' experiments, she'd blame it on the demon parts whispering through her.
"... And yet another two people have disappeared, with no notion of who's responsible. There has been no upsurge in the need for Feeding, so rouge vampire turnings have been deemed unlikely, and police stands baffled. While the chief of police has been unwilling to reveal any possible leads or information, we've had an expert suggesting it could be a question of Demon Rites." The woman anchor paled for a moment, eyes flickering down at her hands before she looked up and smiled again blindingly bright and obviously trained. "And now for the weather, all yours Christine."
Looking away from smirking at Jackson to staring at the screen, Dee swore under her breath, wanting once again to be part of the unofficial Executioner investigation, even though both she and her Mistress knew that the disappearances and Cascade was, or would be, inevitably connected, and that Dee needed to be here. "News, eh," Dee said with lopsided levity. There was nothing fun in what was going on in the city.

It was still daylight when Stephen awoke. Which was unusual, given his preference of sleeping off the entire day. But there was something about this place that didn't agree with him. It almost made him feel sick. Maybe he was just hungry.
Slowly, reluctantly, he pulled on the clothes Drakul had provided for walking out in the sunlight. They were hot and oppressing and, unfortunately, very necessary. There was a dark and thick cloak and hood, and a scarf Stephen wrapped around most of this face. Then, with a deep, but unecessary breath, the vampire pushed open the door and stepped into the light.
It took him a moment to get used to the bright. Like most of his kind, Stephen almost never went outside if he could avoid it. Cloaks and hoods didn't seem like nearly enough protection when you knew you could burst into flames if someone tore them off. But they would have to do. He had work that needed to be done as soon as possible. And that work sent him towards the Sanctuary. Eager to be out of the sunlight, Stephen knocked several times on the door.
