I just got a head's up from a yahoo couch lurker that one of our own placed in the last Neopets Random Contest (page 62) about Magazine Moguls: Battling The Beasts: an IN-depth look into NeoQuest 2 by smilesnz http://www.neopets.com/random_contest.phtml?place=62(near the bottom of the second place winners) AND, I think Jenn is back in action here as I had a friend request waiting for me when I returned, her avi clothes are changed, but she still has 0 posts for the guild. Is anybody else playing the Altador Cup? Today's the last day of the finals!
When I returned from vacation, it was during round 3 and I couldn't sign up. For the finals I'm signed up with Darigan Citadel and have so far scored 13 wins and 1 tie. I just won my best game of 8 to 0!
I'm guessing Haunted Woods will win though because it'll mostly have boys signing up, and boys are often better at flash games. Darigan will have boys, but also probably most of the young girl players who won't be submitting as good of scores. I'm assuming that's one reason why Faerieland didn't last past Round 1, and the 'masculine boy' locations did.
And I wish my fourth score for Maraqua had submitted when I tried it the day the Altador Cup started, because then I would have known we could submit more than 3 times per day!

I've been trying since the game started. I can't win one game at all. I've been on Darigan since the 2nd round and haven't won one game.
I know several people on the Darigan side and not very many on the Haunted Woods side so we shall see.

sports her haunted woods banner xd been with them from day 1... the first round i only won 1 game...i couldnt get hte hang of it...but i finally figured it out on the 2nd round...2nd round i had 100 wins, 3rd round 50 wins, and i am up to 40 wins this round....its a matter of i dont have time to just sit around for too long due to running after kidlets.... to help ya out rue...i always pick the 1+3 setting for the players....and when you get the ball...run all the way tothe outside and come at their goal at an angle...and shoot... i really wish i had more time to sit and play...but even tho i want too..it does seem to get a bit boring doing it over and over again....i normally play a game or post here on gaia in between cup games... its like the staff said in the neopian times: Quote: "The Altador Cup Committee bases scores on win/loss/tie record, point scores, individual performance, and a weighted average based on team membership. Translation: A team with more players has no advantage over a team with fewer players!" on a different tip..i would like to know when they will give out prizes for the plot thing.... 3nodding

The mutant can sometimes work to my favor, swirving around the defensive players and scoring me a goal, but it can also sometimes do the same thing to me! Faerie I can't handle at all. I can't figure out the best strategy for shooting that thing, and have only once managed a goal with a faerie ball.

My strategy is to run up to the opposing goal straight for one edge of the goal, and then when I'm just past the defensive players, to shoot toward the opposite end of the goal where the goalie isn't blocking. It helps if the area is vacated of defensive players if they've all been running up towards my goal and I stole the ball away.
EDIT- oh and the only key I ever push is Shift to get my players back to my side if too many of them are over on the opposing side.

I have tried all of those tips. Nothing helps me. I have scored a couple goals but I can't win. I lose the ball to often and the other side gets it and scores. I quit trying after playing for 2 hours yesterday with no wins. It's not worth it.
I was so excited that I actually finished a plot. Now with the cup being played and no prizes awarded yet, I have a feeling this will be tied into the prizes so I will yet again get the shaft on the nice things because I can't play this stupid game. It's not right.

We'll see what happens with the cup prizes/scores. I haven't played nearly as much as butterfly, but I'm sure the prizes for the altador plot will be completely separate from the cup thing. *hugs Rue* I'm impressed you managed to play a full 2 hours before giving up! I just had one frustrating game with a couple stubborn faerie balls and I'm ready to throw furniture. whee I think I'll go read.
