Seeing as Imperial forces can band together with no real problems, I was thinking of creating an Imperial general for my Guard army, only snag is, I am basing the model and command squad on the stat-line and wargear of a Daemon Hunters Inquisitor Lord. Everything on the model would be WYSIWYG, but would this bother people?
General: Master-crafted lightning claw (is represented on the model as a pair of them) and a storm bolter. Maybe an Icon of the Just representing some ancient commendation with incorperated power field.
Command squad: Imperial Guard veteran with hellgun (2), Imperial Guard veteran with plasma gun and Acolyte with carapace armour and power weapon.
I'd like to think of this group as a high ranking commander with dead-hard bodyguards and some attached aid (acolyte) of sorts with a family heirloom.

you can just use him with "count as DH inq.lord w.retinue" and use as allied 2nd HQ

He'll be using the stats of the unit to represent something else, an Imperial General. I think that's simply badass, and I just may do something of similar ilk in the future.

I was pining for a witch hunter lord as general stand-in, because of the Inquisitorial Mandate and some nice retinue options, but the witch hunter list lacks power fists and lightning claws sadly. Oh well, there's always room for a second in command to the general with a retinue of his own.
EDIT.
A witch hunter with retinue posing as an Imperial propaganda officer would be a neat idea though. Just need to find the right models laden with vox casters.

thats would be really awesome. Something I have always thought would be cool is a Tau commander on foot. I don't exactly know how he would work but you could probably do some cool stuff with him.

They have Tau commanders on foot. Ethreal's are commanders. So there would be no point. I was thinking more of higher classed kroot. Not the shaper council, but higher than that.

*just read through the whole thing* if thats the best they can for for the land raider termius I"m not impressed. I could do that myself with the bits I have at my ready! well tomorrow I'm going to the train store in town and buying about a box of plasticard and I'm making a thunderhawk. if I can I'll make molds of the peices and make my own resin thunderhawk. gota keep it fluffy! templar fight in "death from above" style combat when it gets this big. dropping in all their troops in drop pods then if they cant do it an armoured spear head comes and cleans up the place. the termius isn't any bigger then a regular landraider so I dont see why a thunderhawk couldn't carry one, or two vindicators (no bigger then a rhino) plasticard here I comeI"m really disappointed with GW right now.... I"m drawing up plans for the conversion where all guns can point forward and not stick out the side 3" each way. the only thing thats really bugging me is what will have AA mounts on them? imperial and otherwise. theres already talk of planes in the store flying and bombing lines. what is there to stop them!!

I'm pretty sure Tau Skyray had AA mount... otherwise not much in the standard codex series... but IA Hydra's would do the job

Because I am already planning to buy it.
I mean.. they have got all the IG stuff set up it seems and I am sure they have more stuff in mind, but are not announcing anything that is not truly projected yet.
But that wind rider host....

9 Jetbikes, 2 vypers and 1 NEW MODEL! Autarch mounted on Jetbike.

-Mykal More than Two Words: Prime them all and just do one colour at a time, working your way down the lines. I really wish I did a simpler paint scheme on my gaurdians... but I am just too a**l... JUST TOO a**l!

Well, my comrades, I have seen the book. I have read part of the book. And there is a warlord titan. Full 40k scale. On the battlefield. Stompas are confirmed for a plastic box (probablywhen the new ork 'dex pops up). Three Guard Baneblade variants (including a special character Baneblade that Yarrick rides in) and new rules for flyers. What else was there...
That's all I remember at the moment but there was a lot more.
