I think you two are scaring away potential PPK members! xd

Umm....are they always like that? sweatdrop There must be something going on with those two. wink
Something going on? Only the obvious...

Plucky-chan has school girl crush on me.
I react to her feelings by groping.
She hits me.
I go "@o@!!!"
And we argue sometimes, mostly for the fun of it.

That's about it. whee
... stare . *Smack!* scream

In regards to our little discussion:

Quote:
Because you've seen the vast majority of anime? lol More so, comparing that to still-life, colorless, and often times blurred scenes in a manga, I think the choice is obvious.
... No I'm not saying that manga has better friking animation. Manga has no animation. It's not supposed to. Whereas aniem is supposed to have movement, yet most of the Japanimation I've seen has a handful of pans and still shots.

And in regardless to the rest of that monster of a post (Yes I did read the whole damn thing but hell if I'm gonna quote it...) I'm aware of all of that. I was just critisizing the animation aspect of it. Then you bring up a load of other shizzy. What the?...

I merely mean that if there is a manga and anime to anything, despite all that stuff you listed, about background music and VA's, more often then not I will prefer the manga.

Background Music: Uhh.... download and listen to it while reading it it's really that good. But sometimes I don't like the background music for certain scenes, so hell I'll choose what I listen to while I read. xd

Seiyuu: Hmm well I respect these people so much. It's always great to hear their voices. However while reading the manga, you develop your own idealistic idea of how a character sounds. Sometimes Seiyuu's do wonderful jobs, and othertimes, they throw you off and you're like "What the hell??". Sorry to use this as an example but it's the first that came to mind: Bleach. Yoruichi in her cat form. She's female, and they described her voice as lower then a normal woman's in the manga. But in the anime it was frighteningly low. Hence I was disappointed, and would rather read the manga and hear my own developed little voices. sweatdrop blaugh

Tsukuyomi: For your big fat information I have actually watched that episode! So xp .

Color vs. B/W: Granted, color looks prettier. The Japanese anime and manga style is actually pretty hackneyed so it's not top art. It's just pretty pictures. Anyways, I'm not going to defend manga over this. Yeah color is nice to look at. Some manga has really nice stylized art but still for anime has prettier art. (I'm not going to say better here... both generally use styles unoriginal as hell)

Tone/Tempo: Oro? I like setting my own tempo. It allows me to perceive it however I want. Sometimes the director of an anime thinks that one scene is more important than another, while I disagree with that certain choice. If I can set my own pace, I'll always be happy with how long something is emphasized. Personalized is always better then mass produced. So reading at your own tempo will always be better then watching at the same pace everyone else is (for me at least...)

It's like a book and the movie version. Some people prefer the book over the movie, no matter how awesome the actors or setting and shizzy is. I'm not saying that I hate Japanimation in general. Of course I don't. But reading manga gives me more flexibility with the story, which is probably the most important thing to me.

When did I say that manga was animated?
San-San
Whereas anime is supposed to have movement, yet most of the Japanimation I've seen has a handful of pans and still shots.
So I guess every single episode animation has to be completely original? Why do that? The entertainment value is still the same. Or are you some undercover anime critic?

San-San

You criticized in defense of manga, when I told you to stop using manga as the gold standard, which it clearly isn't.

San-San
I merely mean that if there is a manga and anime to anything, despite all that stuff you listed, about background music and VA's, more often then not I will prefer the manga.
And you've never provided any sound reason for it.

San-San
Background Music: Uhh.... download and listen to it while reading it it's really that good. But sometimes I don't like the background music for certain scenes, so hell I'll choose what I listen to while I read. xd
Your loss. You haven't watched enough of the anime to judge anyhow.

San-San
Seiyuu: Hmm well I respect these people so much. It's always great to hear their voices. However while reading the manga, you develop your own idealistic idea of how a character sounds.
Why? Maybe if you have some vastly creative level, but do you? When someone is trying to give you great presentation, you should appreciate it.
San-San

Moot point, considering I've stopped watching the anime at this point. I'll catch up when I can watch in bulk. Other stuff is better.

San-San
Tsukuyomi: For your big fat information I have actually watched that episode! So xp .
Good for you. xp

I don't see how you can possibly bring up originality. How many manga/anime have been in existence? Do you realize how difficult it is to constantly reinvent that stuff?

San-San
Tone/Tempo: Oro? I like setting my own tempo. It allows me to perceive it however I want. Sometimes the director of an anime thinks that one scene is more important than another, while I disagree with that certain choice. So reading at your own tempo will always be better then watching at the same pace everyone else is (for me at least...)
Then you're better off writing and reading your own stuff. Because manga to anime that I've watched, the tones have been set perfectly. You CAN'T set a manga tone if everything is rushed directly from scene to scene. And I don't buy that you, of all people, are capable of doing so. Your mind isn't that open.

San-San

Bad comparison. Books are nothing but words and needless elaborations. Manga and anime are all visual, with written words replaced in anime by spoken word.

EDIT: Also, I'm proud of Plucky-chan. You used to just roll over when either Shani or I challenged you like this, but now you're attempting to rise to the occasion. Good stuff. whee

No it isn't.. A series can't be judged solely on it's plot. Plot is probably most important but if you're going to animate it then animate it well...

Quote:

Why? What the... it's not like I sit there and think up some little voice. It just comes automatically, as you read about a character and learn about their personality you just sort of think up a way that you think they would sound no? (I'm surely cant' be the only one....)

Quote:
Moot point, considering I've stopped watching the anime at this point. I'll catch up when I can watch in bulk. Other stuff is better.
I could say something now.. but considering the discussion now.. you'd kill me. sweatdrop

Quote:

But they don't reinvent it. All anime characters have pretty much the same basic idea. The most prominant difference is usually hair and height.

Hmm not great, but allright for the point that I was trying to make, about keeping plot and shizzy but just making it more pretty to the eyes. Besides, you read books.. you read manga. You watch movies, you read anime.

For visual value, anime is nicer to look at, simply for sake of color and the little jerky movements. xd But like I said before, I like to be able to personalize what I'm looking at. With anime it's 23 minutes. I can't skip boring stuff that they extend and I can't enjoy scenes that I like for as long as I want (unless I pause or fast forward... and that's just silly).

... I wonder where you got the assumption that I I said a series is just judged solely by plot. Of all Gaians that you've known, I should be the last one who you'd think would say such a thing.

San-San
... I've watched plenty of anime. I haven't discussed it all with you, but I've watched a pretty handful. Anyways...
Congratulations again. But you still haven't watched enough, I'm sure.

Probably not the only one. But by assuming that your level of creativity is the standard, you're robbing yourself of other people's creative outlets. People who have had the opportunity to bring a manga to life for the sake of ungrateful engrates like yourself. xd
San-San
I could say something now.. but considering the discussion now.. you'd kill me. sweatdrop
Doesn't matter what you would say. After 14 episodes, the basic direction of the series is set. I knew after only 5 episodes of every other anime that I've watched whether or not it would turn out to be something special in my eyes. Bleach does not qualify.

San-San
But they don't reinvent it. All anime characters have pretty much the same basic idea. The most prominant difference is usually hair and height.
Credit that assumption to your lack of insight. When your eyes open more, you'll realize how insane your words sound.

San-San
Yes it is... so xp . The tone is set for you, but if I really like a picture I can just sit there and look at if for a while can't I? blaugh
Bullplop. No, it is not. I have better insight into your mind than you do. xp And sure, you can stare at a picture for a while. Would you like me to read you a bedtime story, and give you some warm milk when you're done? whee
San-San
Hmm not great, but allright for the point that I was trying to make, about keeping plot and shizzy but just making it more pretty to the eyes. Besides, you read books.. you read manga. You watch movies, you read anime.
Jebus, girl, still bad comparisons. Manga to anime is inherent, and tradition. Books to movies is not. It's only become more popular in the past decade because movie writers have lost all will and imagination in this country. And I don't know what you were trying to do with that last line. What does reading books, reading manga (which is not all you do with manga, considering their are several pages without words), watching movies and reading anime (which is a dumb thing to say considering subtitles are only for non-Japanese speakers, thus, not part of the creation of anime) have to do with anything?

San-San

You're still full of crap. Personalize what you're looking at? I'd be really interested in hearing a description from you of what you think you're personalizing, and how. Because, as I've said on a number of occasions, I doubt that you have the creative outlet to do that. And unless you watch TV anime (which I don't know why anyone with internet or money would do), there is no reason you can't skip through things that you don't like. I've watched the same scene on some anime over and over at my own accord. It wasn't difficult. I'm sure you can learn how to do it too. :3nod

Hmm true, but I can live with that. Usually the original plot is always better then the anime adaption.

Why wouldn't I watch TV anime? I have anime network, and instead of wasting my money or time downloading or buying something just to check it out, I may as well watch it on TV. Besides, skipping through something defeats the purpose of watching someone else's interpretation doesn't it? Hmmmmm?

So basically, you assume that dubbed crap is equal to subbed work? And don't talk about wasting your time. High school kids waste a fair majority of their time inherently. And weren't you the one who yapped about whether or not you have the option to skip through something? You just contradicted yourself. whee
