I've been meaning to do this for a VERY long time but have never gotten around to it, until now... so here goes.

I am Jewish. I was born into a (relatively) secular Jewish family; my great-grandparents and every generation before them for the past 3+ thousand years was ultra-Orthodox (i.e. as religious as it gets), but I am a Russian Jew. There are no Orthodox Russian Jews left because when Russia became communist, religion (as well as all non-Russian culture) was banned. My great-great-grandparents devoted their entire lives to the study of Torah and did not speak Russian at all; two generations later you have my grandparents, not sure if G-d exists, and not even being able to carry on a conversation in Yiddish.

I was born in Moscow but when I was 4 months old, my family moved to Israel and since then we adopted the lifestyle of most secularish Jews: we celebrate the major holidays, we fast on Yom Kippur, etc. We moved to Canada when I was 5, but I, as well my brother, born in December '98, have been raised as [secular] Jews. We have both been to Hebrew school, we pig out on candy every year on Purim, and we light Chanukah candles.

Until the age of 11, I believed in G-d without ever questioning that He might not exist. My family was not Orthodox but both my parents believed in G-d and it seemed obvious to me that He was there. But in grade 5 we learned a little about ancient civilizations at school and about how the Greeks invented their G-ds to explain natural phenomena such as earthquakes. I convinced myself that my ancestors had invented the concept of G-d to explain things that could now be explained by science. Until the age of 15, I distanced myself from Judaism as much as possible.

At the age of 15, something (personal) happened to me that completely changed me as a person, and made me think a lot of about life and the world. I realized then that G-d really does exist; since then, I have not questioned His existance. I am currently considering moving to Israel after I finish university to explore my religion further and attempt to establish a closer and more personal relationship with G-d.

I'm going to shut up now... I've rambled on enough sweatdrop

I think it's time for a revision: it's been a really long time since I've done this.

Hello. I am Son of Axeman.

Real name: Jason
Like?: I hate my name
Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Age: 19
Religious beliefs: I was born an Armenian Orthodox Christian, from my (very religious) mother's side of the family. I lost faith at around the age of 13. At ~14, i started studying Wicca. I considered myself a Wiccan for a while, but then discovered that it seems fabricated to me. I then considered myself an Eclectic Pagan for awhile, then developed my love for science, and realized that none of any of this religious stuff makes any bloody sense. I am now an atheist, if you couldn't tell already.
Hobbies: Studying medicine, discussing ethical issues, mocking stupid people.
Aspirations for the future: I want to become either a doctor or Ethics teacher.
Bad habits: I bite my nails.
Has been described as: Grumpy, sarcastic, sociopathic.
Social group: I hate social groups. Emo, Goths, Jocks, I hate them all.

DISCLAIMER ON MY BEHAVIOUR:

Son of Axeman
I cannot stress enough that what I say may offend you, and that I do not care. I do not believe in political correctness, it is a method with which to control language. I call a spade a spade, and if you don't like it, bugger off. it's not up to me to censor my individual right to free speech, for the comfort of the majority.

Hello! My name is Katie (or Katherine or Kizzy, your choice). I was raised secularly, and when I hit my late teen years, started exploring religions a little. When I entered college (currently a Junior), I immediately knew I wanted to major in religion; I loved exploring every faith, even though I didn't have one of my own. I am the "anomaly" in my classes, according to one professor, and my "religion is religious tolerance," said another professor.

I started out drifting to Eastern beliefs, then Western, and now I'm stuck in the middle. I found out later in life that all the women on my mum's side of the family are more New Age-type practitioners, and we all somehow wound up with incredibly similar beliefs.

I'm really drawn to esoteric religions, especially the concepts in gnosticism, even if I can't pin myself down to any religion. I love visiting different worship sites, and am the only person in my family who can handle fundamentalists with some sort of inherent interest.

So, anything more specific than that...please just feel free to ask. heart

Hola.
I go by caustic, cau, or a variation of that on gaia. I'm 19, female, a sculpture major in college, and from Virginia. I was born n raised a Southern Baptist. I've been atheist since about 9th grade, even after wanting to be a missionary for a while. xP I'm interested in religions and history in general. I'm also captain of the Gaian Atheists United guild so hopefully some of my members will sneak over here too. ^^
Another random fact before I go.. >.> I've been learning to weld. :0

Dwayna DragonFire
I'm Dwayna DragonFire, or at least that's my magical name. I'm Wiccan, but I don't have a defined path yet. I hop to learn more about my religion and other religions, and I also hope to make some good friends! whee heart
BTW, I'm better known as Sara, from Canada. 3nodding

Greetings, Dwayna DragonFire. My magical name is Shira Makani. (Shira means 'song' and Makani means 'the wind'). Although I don't neccessarily refer to myself as Wiccan, I do have various similar concepts in my beliefs. My full post was a bit before yours.

I am Aidryanna and I don't really have a religion, but I don't claim to be atheist either. I have many things that I believe in. I also have quite a list of detailed morals that make up my personal "religion" I've never really tried to write out the full list, but I know that it's long and complicated. If I offend anyone it's not intentional, maybe it's just the way you took what I've said. And I act defensively, don't attack me and I won't attack you. If you mind that then we'll get along just fine xd

Hello biggrin
My name is Trinity and I was raised Catholic but now I'm not sure what my religion is. I consider myself an agnostic since I believe there's something greater than us but not God. It's hard to explain. I continue to look into religions for something I can work with.

Em hotep (in peace) to all ^.^ My name is Robert. I am a recent member of the Kemetic Orthodox, prior to which I was raised as a Roman Catholic. Though my parents fualt me for making a change outside of Christianity, I do not regret the decision. I have come to have a personal relationship with the Gods and Goddesses of ancient Kemet (Egypt), and have during the past several months became a much more developed person and my chronic depression and problems with remembering things are all but gone now. At the bottom of my sig is my parent divination. For those who cannot read or translate it, I will do so now:
I am the son of the Goddess Sekhmet (When I say son, I mean She created my Ka(heart-soul)) , who is an aspect of the Goddess Hethert. I am beloved of (Beloved meaning those Deities who have a powerful influence in my life aside from my spiritual mother) the God Amun, The God Djehuty, and the God Wapwawet, who is an aspect of the God Yinepu. Now alot of people aren't familiar with some of the names, because many of the names that the general public think are Egyptian are actually Greek. Hathor is Greek for Hethert, Amen is Greek for Amun (and continuously used in christian prayers...something to think on razz ), Thoth is Greek for Djehuty, and Anubis is Greek for Yinepu.
Until next time, hotep!
