"Tch. I was counting on you and you guys failed me!" Steve shouted. "Okay! Two on two battle and if we win we get all your cash if you win I'll give you something good!" He stated as he released a Ledian and Ariados.
"Hm. Well okay I guess. You two rest." Mag stated recalling the Flareon and Vaporeon. "It is all up to you two!" He said releasing Shining and Shadow the Eevee siblings. "Go for it!"
"Ariados use Fury Swipes and Ledian use Comet Punch. Go all out offense!" Steve shouted. The two bugs rushed after the Eevee who quickly dodged to the side using Quick Attack. Then they moved in with a Helping Hand and a Quick Attack on the Ariados. It was stuned for a moment but lashed out on Shadow who had gone on the offensive this time. It scored 3 hits with Fury Swipes.
Shining moved in with a Tackle and led up with a Sand Attack. The Ledian swooped down and bashed 5 strong hits with comet punch. "You can do it Shadow! Quick Attack!" Mag shouted as the Eevee shot into the air and knocked down the bug. Shining quickly took advantage and added her own Tackle to the mix. The bug did not move. "NO! Hurry Ariados use Night Shade!"

'Napalm's' egg moved around, making excited little spasms of movement. Mike looked down, tightening his grip on it, he was afraid he'd drop it with all this movement. "A lively one this is. I bet it's going to be strong when it hatches!"
Rubbing his head, Portabello somberly walked back to Mike, completely missing the events that had transpired only moments ago. Chairs, my arch nemesis...

"It's a great name," Flannery agreed, watching the egg move around. "When do you think it's going to hatch?" She looked over as Portabello was staggering towards Mike, looking worse for wear. "He doesn't look so good," she said, pointing to the Breloom.

She'd been asleep for about an hour when she felt someone nudging her gently. "Go away, Hiro, I wanna sleep," Kasiya murmured, pushing the offending prodder away.
"Just who is Hiro?" she heard a voice ask. A female voice. A familiar voice.
Kasiya opened an eye lazily, and her feeling of safety was complete. It was her mother. "Hi Mom," she said, sitting up and stretching. Shocker slid down onto her lap but didn't stir. "I didn't hear you come in."
"I worked late, again," said Mya, sitting down next to her daughter. "And just who is this lively crew strewn about my living room?"
"Oh," Kasiya giggled, a bit sheepishly. "Well, you've met Shocker before," she said, poking the soundly sleeping Raichu. "She evolved not too long ago. That big fella over there is Hiro, and of course, Ariel." The eager Vaporeon jumped up to greet the woman, pleased to make a new friend. "Fang's probably in the hall closet," she added, looking around for Rosemary and Adamantine.
"Oh, the funny-coloured Crobat? Yeah, we met," Mya laughed a bit nervously. "Scared the daylights out of each other, but we're good now."
"And this is Rosemary. She just evolved a few hours ago." she pointed, as the Bayleef entered the room, carrying with her, the delightful scent of herbs and spices. "Where's Ada?" Kasiya asked Ariel, who shook her head. Rosemary did the same. "I wonder where she got to?" Kasiya mused, prodding Shocker until she woke up. The Raichu grumbled a bit, a few stray sparks escaping her cheeks, yawned, and then crawled over to Mya, making herself comfortable.
"You've assembled quite the diverse team," Mya commented, impressed with her daughter as she stroked the ever-content Raichu.
"Just wait until I show you my badges," replied Kasiya. It was great to be home again.

"Just where has that little troublemaker got to?" Kasiya asked herself as she searched the kitchen for traces of her Larvitar. The kitchen turned up no signs of her, nor the bathroom. "I just don't know where she could have... gone..." Kasiya trailed off as she came back into the livingroom, and there, cuddling next to her mother was Adamantine. Shocker was sitting on the coffee table, looking perturbed, to say the least. It seemed that Ada had found her way into the room, and Kasiya's mother, who turned out to have a strange affection for rock-type Pokemon, cried out with delight, jumped up (sending Shocker flying) and had made the young Larvitar her new best friend. Ada was loving every moment of it, making happy sounds and noises that Kasiya hadn't heard before. "Brat," Kasiya sighed, plopping down in her favourite plush chair. Almost instantly Rosemary tried to climb up onto her lap, but was disappointed to find she was too big. "If you think it's bad now, just wait until you evolve again. That's if you want to," Kasiya added quickly as she recieved a death glare from the Bayleef.

Mike glanced down at his Pokemon, sporting a brand new gash on his mushroom cap. "Oh, where'd you get that?" He bent down to inspect the wound, a bruise surrounding the cut.
Stupid flying chairs... The Breloom thought spoke to no one in particular. Eyeing the egg, Portabello leaned closer to get a better look. Another fire type in there?
"Yup! An adorable baby Magby." The trainer smiled ear to ear, just thinking of the team he was building, Napalm's egg wobbling in his arms.

Kilik unzipped his bag, scooping up the yellow egg and holding it in his arms. He felt it wiggle slightly at his touch. "I wonder whats inside," he said, rubbing the side of it gently. Flareon leaned forward to sniff it and Weezing stuck up his nose. "What's the matter, Weezing? Jealous?" he laughed.
"Weezing-Wee!" he growled, casting a dark look at the Egg. It gave another little shake. Kilik could tell by the look on Weezing's face, he would attack whatever popped out of that Egg, except another Koffing. Kilik's hand rolled down the side once more.

"Ooh, she is just too adorable!" Mya cooed, cuddling Adamantine. The young Larvitar looked as though she couldn't be happier, as did Kasiya's mother. The trainer smiled, suddenly wondering why she didn't think to leave her Pokemon with her in the first place.
"Hey Mom, would it bother you if I left some of my Pokemon with you from time to time? They seem to like you, after all." This was proven to be true as Shocker, seemingly fed up with being ignored, was pushing Ada aside so she too could get some cuddles.
"Of course it wouldn't bother me," Mya giggled, Adamantine under one arm, and Shocker the other. "Plus it would be a great excuse for you to come home and see your poor, lonesome mother more often."
"I don't need an excuse," Kasiya started, but smiled, knowing what her mother had meant. "I'm sorry, Mom," she said, lowering her gaze. "So much has happened, and I've been so busy..."
"That's what happens when you're a Pokemon Trainer," Mya nodded, looking at her daughter. "No need to apologize."
"It's more than that," Kasiya went on, but changed her mind. The last few days' events flooded her mind, and she bit her lower lip as it quivered.
"I know that look," Mya said, patting the couch beside Shocker, who was asleep again. "Come over here and tell your mom all about it."

Kasiya sniffled a bit, and did as she was told. And just like that, the flood gates opened, and she told her mother everything. When she'd been kidnapped by Team Rocket not three blocks from her own home and Mike's daring attempt to rescue her; Kilik, Nina, Sabrina, and Silph. Co; the discovery that Surge was her father, how she'd dealt with it, and learning that she had a sister; the situation with Keegan; the Cherry Blossom Festival and her first kiss; the mission to Five Island to rescue Kilik; her feelings for Mike; even her reckless try at infiltrating the Viridian Base all by herself, and meeting Giovanni, the Rocket Boss himself. Then, to lighten the mood, she also told of her accomplishments, including all the details of each of her gym battles, how she'd met her Pokemon and their evolutions, finishing up by showing off the first four of eight Kanto Region Pokemon Gym badges that she'd earned.
Mya listened patiently, interrupting with questions here and there, each answered, with full deteail, by Kasiya. Once she'd finished her tale, she leaned back on the couch, now with Ariel stretched out across her lap, and feeling as though a tremendous weight had been lifted from her chest.
"That's... incredible," her mother said, blinking with near disbelief at her daughter's stories. "You've been through so much." Her mother looked up at her, a slight smile spreading across her face. "And when did you get your hair cut? You look so much older with it short." She reached out to touch it, nostalgia shining in her blue eyes.
"Not too long ago," Kasiya said, thinking of the golden, braided coil in her backpack. She gently moved Ariel aside, and stood up, going over to where she'd dropped her things, and removed it. "I don't really know why I kept it," she admitted, sitting back down. "But for some reason, it's like even though I let it go, I still want to hold onto it."
Mya just smiled, and took the long length of hair from her daughter. "How many times did I tell you to get it cut, but you never did." She smiled. "It's a symbol of how much you've grown," she added. "It makes sense why you'd want to keep it."

It was about then that Kasiya began to feel ravenous. She ran over to her backpack, finding her bag of leftovers from lunch, and went to the kitchen to reheat it. Her mother, on the other hand, made meals for each Pokemon and herself, and they sat around the cramped kitchen, eating, talking, and joking, and for the first time in a while, Kasiya forgot about everything that was bothering her completely, and just enjoyed the familiarity of home.
It seemed to be short lived, though, because as Kasiya and her mother stood in the kitchen, washing dishes after supper, Mya brought up the subject of what she'd do next.
"Well," Kasiya said thoughtfully, as she put a stack of clean plates in the cupboard, "I'm thinking of heading to Fuschia City next to challenge Koga for a battle."
"That's 'Master' Koga," her mother reminded her. "Remember what Surge - your father told you about the Fuschia Gym? They demand respect there."
"I know," Kasiya said, almost happy to be nagged at again. "Master Koga." She thought back to her previous gym matches, and how incredibly different they'd all been. Brock's lecherousy, Misty's playfullness, her father's condescending attitude, Erika's ferocity. She had a feeling that meeting Master Koga in a battle would be an experience all in itself. She'd never been to Fuschia before, and she couldn't help but wonder what the gym would be like. "I hope I don't do anything to upset the Master," she murmured, placing the glass she'd been drying for the past five minutes in the cupboard.
"Then after that?" her mother prodded further.
"I'm not sure," Kasiya admitted. "Maybe I'll take a break from badge collecting and-"
"Tell that sweet boy how you feel about him?" asked her mother innocently.
"-do some serious training," Kasiya finished, pretending she hadn't heard her mother's suggestion. Why does everyone think it's such an easy thing to do?! she thought bitterly, putting her towel away. "I'm going to take a shower," she announced, and made her way upstairs.
"Alright," Mya smiled. "Could you put all your dirty clothes in a basket? I'll get them washed for you."
"Sure thing, Mom," Kasiya said, pausing on the stairs as she thought of that stupid sun dress she'd wore. Mike thought it looked nice, she thought dreamily, but shook her head. "Arrrghh!"

Mike's thoughts drifted from the now, recalling a little incident on Five Island. He remembered ordering Titanium to smash the foundation, wrecking the lab and stopping Giovanni's evil experiments. "I wonder how he's doing with that...maybe..." The trainer sat down, deep in thought. Maybe I should go to Viridian, check on how he's doing, maybe shake him up a bit. Yeah...
I'll show him not to mess with me or my friends!
His pensive expression changed to a slight smirk. "Flannery, we're going to Viridian."

He'd been searching for nearly an hour, with no luck whatsoever. Tired, frustrated, now completely broke and getting hungry, Keegan collapsed on a bench, wondering if this day was ever going to end, when he saw it. A boy, perhaps a few years younger than he, with shaggy blonde hair, walked past him, carrying an incredibly familiar backpack. Keegan practically jumped out of his shoes as he stood, staring. "Is it....?" he asked himself, looking closer. And there it was. A crude, hand-sewn patch, in the shape of a flame. He knew it well, it had been a reward for taking care of the neighbor's house while they'd vacationed in Johto. Once again, his rage flared up, and he gave chase, his feet pounding the ground with his mismatched shoes. The boy turned around, startled, to see an enraged red-haired boy charging at him like a Tauros, and he did the only logical thing any person with common sense would do - run.

"What? Why?" she asked, looking at him as though he was crazy. "Isn't it getting late? Whatever on earth do you want to go there for? Isn't that in Kanto?" Flannery reached into her pocket and withdrew something, then proceded to put her hair back up into its usual bouncy style. Feeling more like herself again, she waited for Mike to give her answers as to why he wanted to go so abruptly.

"Remember how I told you I had done some damage to Team Rocket?" The boy stood up, brushing his hair to the side, quite proud of the previous statement. "I want to go see if Giovanni has done anything about it. That and I might want to bash some skulls to keep up my battle skills." Tucking the egg into his backpack, gently took Flannery by the hand and led her outside. Calling out his beloved Charizard, the boy walked over and hopped on. "We're gonna go thrash some Rockets!" Nitro's eyes flared up in excitement, as Portabello sighed and recalled himself, not in the mood for flying.
Mike held out a hand for his lovely company. "Well? I'm sure a Gym Leader isn't afraid of some punks in black?" He smiled teasingly, his heart still beating a bit fast.

The sobs had started to stop, and Nina wiped her eyes with he back of her hand. Shakily, she got to her feet, and walked to a mirror that was in the room. Looking into it, she saw her face-- it was completely red, but there were slight trails of where tears had fallen, which distorted the redness a bit. Also, her hair was somewhat matted. She sniffled, and covered her face, before rubbing at it furiously, as if to take the red out of it. When she stopped, her face didn't look much different-- the red shade turned a little bit lighter. However slowly, her face did start to regain its original color. She held up her right hand near her right ear and did the same for her left hand and ear. She closed her eyes for a moment, and moved her hands slightly; when she opened her eyes, her hair had regianed its normal straightness. She brushed off her dress and sniffled once; when she was satisfied enough with her appearance, Nina passed through the doorway and into the main area of the Pokemon Center. A few moments later, she opened the door, and left.
