After giving it some thought, I'd have to say Palmer or Don Corneo. I can usually tolerate any character to a point, but those guys irked me.

CAIT F*****N' SITH!!! THAT FOOL IS ANNOYING!!! WHAT IS THA POINT TO HIM?!! HE'S NOT A COMIC RELIEF 'CAUSE HE'S NOT FUNNY, HE DOESN'T DO ANYTHING BUT LIE AND SPY ON PEOPLE... SO WHAT THA F**K IS THA POINT?!!!

Cait Sith is one of the most important characters in the game. He is the only Shinra employee that is willing to directly help Cloud and the gang only because he knows what they are really like. Without Cait Sith, there would have been no knowledge coming from the Shinra side. He was a covert spy that did his duty for the side he thought was right, then saw differently and worked to redeem what he had done.
Hes one of the most intricate characters because of that and one of the most important because without him, there would be no planet left.

Midgar wouldve been destroyed thanks to Diamond Weapon without Reeve telling Cloud that the creature was on its way. Hojo wouldve gotten away with his little "free my son!" plan without Reeve passing on the information that the mad-man was gearing up for another shot. Every Shinra weakness that was exploited by Avalanche post-Temple of the Ancients was thanks to Reeve acting with the group through Cait Sith.

That's your view... I just don't think hes that important. Im not that big a fan of the character, but saying that he had no purpose is just......hmmm....ignorant. Disliking the character is alright. Sure, whatever, I cant change that. But saying a major character who is one of the main characters in the game had no purpose.... I will defend any character, whether I like them or not, and show that they do have a purpose when people say they dont. Cait Sith bashing is just one of my major peeves since it happens so very often and with so little knowledge of the character.

But that not seeing of a point is what this is all about. Its not a personal thing, but saying you know about a character but dont see his point, then link that to you not liking him. Seems hypocritical. A failure to see a point in a character is a slight brush with ignorance. If you know him, how cant you see his point?
