When it comes down to it, all of the characters are the same except for limit breaks. So I usually end up using the characters with the strongest limit breaks. I don't like vincent because you lose control of your character. Yuffie's only good feature is that her morph attack is really strong, but her lvl 4 limit break is worse than her lvl 3 limit break. *sigh* I don't like Yuffie.
So my favorite team is:
Cloud (Summon)
Cid (Misc, a lot of magic)
Barret (Misc, restore magic)

Alright the best team is...
Cloud(Above average in all stats: A jack of all trades if you will)
Vincent(After Aeris dies he's the best mage)
Cid(Greatest strength except Tifa is stronger but her limit takes too long and you can get attacked during the slot rolls)
That is the best team...one thinks Barret has good strength but after a while it averages out...and he becomes crappy...Red XIII is like Cloud only just average in all stats nothing spectacular...and basicaly the same for the others

I use Cloud, Vincent, and Yuffie. I really hate Yuffie, but I had to level her up to beat the pagoda, so she turned out to be one of my strongest characters.
