"Mm-hmm. The song of the bird is a beautiful piece," Taki said, nodding. Mizu rushed off, returning quickly with a xylaphone and a set of sleigh bells.
Taki and Mizu together played song of the bird, jingling bells accenting now and then.

Sayuri still felt emotional, but was happy that her friends was playing the song. She swayed to the beats of the sounds of the instruments, as she used to do.

The head of the Umi compound approached. "Mizu, Taki, we have a clan meeting. Sayuri, you come too."
Mizu and Taki put away their instruments, obediantly following their father, though curious about what he wanted Sayuri for.

Sayuri followed the head of the Umi compound obediantly.
"Why would I come?" she thought "I'm not part of the Umi clan, so..."

The group came to a stop in the Umi compound's Ballroom. Mizu and Taki sat down at a table, motioning for Sayuri to join them. The head of the clan stood on a platform, ready to speak.

Sayuri uneasily sat down next to Taki, wondering what the head of the Umi Clan would say.

"We have gathered here today to discuss what is to become of the Umi clan. As many of the elders of the clan know, we originally had an agreement with the Asamoya family that was to be sealed with a marriage between one of my one daughters, and the son of the main family of the Asamoya family, Kai. This was decided twelve years ago at Mizu and Taki's birth. As you have noticed, we have guests joining us today. Asamoyas, please stand," The head of the clan said.
Scattered people stood up, and Mizu and Taki noticed Kai amongst them, and a woman who nervously twiddled with an ocarina.

Sayuri stood up as she saw other people stand. Her eyes grew wide
as she looked around.
"My...clan? After all of this time, and a arranged marraige none the less, Mizu...or Taki, together with Kai in marraige?" she thought.
As Sayuri looked around the room she saw the woman who had the ocarina in her hand. She looked familiar to Sayuri.
"M...Mother...?" she said, in a soft voice

Taki zeroed in on the lady with the ocarina. The ocarina...ocarina... Taki thought, Now where have i heard of a lady with an...Sayuri's mom! Taki nudged Mizu, but Mizu's mind was elsewhere.
Arranged marrige? With Kai? But Daddy wants an alliance, so that will probably mean... Mizu's thoughts trailed off, but she knew what was to be. She walked up to her father, and whispered softly into his ear. Mr. Umi nodded, a playful smirk dancing across his usually emotionless face. Mizu went back and explained the situation to Taki, who looked shocked for a moment, before nodding solemnly.

My mind's going around in circles! My clan was here all of this time? Kai's about to get married to Mizu or Taki, and the icing on the cake is...

"And it has been decided that whoever will wed with Kai shall become the head of the clan..." The head of the clan heard shocked gasps around the audience. This was what Mizu was worried about-she wanted to be the clan leader, but she didn't love Kai. On the other hand, Taki did love Kai, but did not want to be the clan leader.

What in the...That's way too much pressure on both Mizu and Taki! I'm sure Kai's pressured as well but... Sayuri thought, as her reaction was shocked like everyone elses

Mizu and Taki sighed in unison. That was the part they were both dreading. They knew that for the alliance to be the stongest, the marrige had to be between the heads of the clans. The Asamoya clan were currently in need of help because of being chased out and all their belongings being destroyed, and the Umi clan could use the help of the strategic yet powerful Asamoya clan. Kai hid his disappointed of having to be married off to form an alliance behind a mask of emotionlessness.

"Of course Sayuri. Mizu and Taki, you join her. Kai, I'd suggest you follow them and figure out which one you like more," The clan's head said. Mizu, Taki, and Kai bowed as they left the meeting room.
