Cagalli Yura Attha Darzoni Okay, any suggestions on how to model a phylactery for a Necron Lord? Oh, and I'm quite annoyed. I think GW stopped producing the Necron Lord that comes with the Staff of Light. domokun That was a limited edition. It's not that hard to convert a staff of light though. True, but I'm lazy. blaugh So I stuck a small bit on it to make it look visually different, and I'll call it a Staff of Light. Should an opponent call me on it, I'll say this "If it were a War Scythe, I would make it look like a scythe, not some jumped-up halberd. You would -know- just from looking at it that it is a scythe... because I'd put a huge blade on it." biggrin Now... how to model a phylactery...

Now, tell me what phylactery is meant to be and i'll tell you how to make it.

chaos_havoc1932 does your necron lord have to have a special item to bring back dead necrons? is it the orb of ressurection? no, all necron models with the special rule "Necron" can come back from the dead, if they have not been destroyed by power weapons or double STR weapons. the ress orb just overrules the last bit of what I just said.

Just curious to know, what do you think is the best wargear option for a Necron lord?

Nateku Just curious to know, what do you think is the best wargear option for a Necron lord? for what purpose? offensive or defensive? A warscythe is a good weapon, but it won't stop your army dying. Similarly, a resurrection orb can keep your necrons in service for a long period of time, but in and of itself cannot be relied upon for attacking the enemy.

Nateku Just curious to know, what do you think is the best wargear option for a Necron lord? got just one? make sure he has a res orb. the rest is up to you if you want him on the offence or defense. Defensive Equipment: Chronometron, Gaze of Flame, Phlactariy, Veil of Darkness, Destroyer Body, Phase Shifter. Offensive Equipment: Destroyer Body, Warscythe, Lightning Arc, Disruption Fields, Gaze of Flame.

Hmmmm, thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll buy another to use for both purposes. Not both in the same game though.

Ressurection orbs should be considered required equipment on a lord. Itincreases the chance that your necrons will get up to 50% compared to the 35% it usually is. Also, it protects you from the instagibblyness of artillary, and more importantly, it protects from power weapons. A unit killed by a CC weapon that does not allow armor saves usually kills Necrons dead, but not with the res. orb.
Other than that, I'm partial to the vale of darkness. Teleport a group of immortals to the enemy's soft targets and laugh as they are gibbed. I'm more partial to simply taking more warriors than giving the lord stuff.
