Maris just chuckled and shook his head. "Now, don't take offense to this, but you being here or gone doesn't put much of a damper on my life. You know what I mean?" He took another sip of his coffee. He then started speaking again. "So you leave for a year or more and then you come back and propose to her. Why?"

Maris let out a laugh and pointed at him. "And you see, you're paranoid. It's not you. I just don't like anyone very much." He took another drink of his coffee and let out a sigh.

He finished his coffee and then went to get another cup. Then sitting back down. "Like I could stop it if I even wanted. I don't want to, but like I could."

why would you stop it in the first place? it's not like i'm a bad guy or something.

Maris looked up at him. "No. You're not a bad guy. I just get worried. You lead a dangerous life like Azer did. If you die and leave her alone, then where's that leave her?"

Maris sat back and took another drink of his coffee. Letting out a sigh. "And see, you sound just like him. What I want you to do right now is tell me why you're going to be a good husband and provider. And it has to be good enough to win me over. I want to know that Mari got herself the best she could. And don't put words in my mouth of saying I don't like you because of you. I would be expecting the same from any guy that Mari would bring in. So I'm not being an a** specifically towards you. Now answer my questions to the best of your ability." He looked Smash straight in the eye and didn't hold any looks containing emotion. None of hate. None of happiness. He wanted to stay calm.

*he closed his eys as he spoke. he knew perfectly well why he wanted to marry her*
as you should know by now, i was once a monster. i ruthlessly killed people with no remorse. but when we met i found there was something different about her. as time went on i felt myself get away from being a monster. she changed my life for the better. now in turn i only wish to make her life the happiest as it can be. she the one thing in this world that makes me happy and will not let anything come between that. that's why i chose to be with her for the rest of my life.
