every once in a while people do yell things at us but it doesnt happen too often. if it does, i dont really notice.

sometimes i just get disgusted of drama students who think they're all that, just because they look like an actor, or actress. they're just like,"EW BAND SUCKS LIKE CRAP!" and i one time got picked on for being a flute geek lol.

Well there are annoying seniors in band that yell constantly about talking and crap and in reality she never stops talking.But anyways when we were at band camp(which was actually a church camp) there were houses behind the marching field(we used it as a marching field and messed it all up for the next band that was coming teehee I heart my bd!)and well they weren't too happy about us playing at 7 in the morning so they came out and said "Shut up!".So the next morning we turned towards them at about that time and pretty much blasted what we had been playing the day before and I can play pretty loud and I do say that was pretty...rough.

My band's practice field is a parking lot. A parking lot they hadn't even painted for us until about 3?4 of the way through summer band. We actually got stuck up on a mddy hill for most of the summer, right by the road, so yeah, we got plenty of honks and screams. Of course, now that our field's on the parking lot it isn't any better. The football team lets out while we're still practicing and so they drive their Hummers straight through our formations whilst yelling obscenities. Not fun. stressed

Yea. I hate it sepecially how they laugh and such at you when guard drops their
equipment or a band member messes up no their drill. but, my guard instructor just told us that if they do that she'll drag them to the field and make them toss something while moveing or playing music while keeping good angels and such. it's funny. smile

At a drumline practice where we had to use the parking lot, someone shouted at us when they had a red light, one of our tennor players nearly killed them. shes really tough.

Yes. All the time. Also, when I tell them to fix their mistake, they ignore me. In one song, this one guy said it "sounded cooler" than the actual written music when all it did was mess the other parts of the low brass up.

Occaisonally there would be a couple people in costumes who would make fun of the band, but it was always planned by us. Otherwise people don't bother to make fun of us.

Durza the Shade My marching band's practice field is in full view of two fairly major roads and an intersection. As people are driving by, we often have to put up with honking, shouts of "Band sucks!" and "Get a life!", and incoherant screaming. We were even mooned once last year. It's annoying, but we get at least two screamers, a shout and a honk every practice, so we learn to deal with it. I know from a friend in another local band that the same thing happens at their practices. Does this happen to anyone else? it's quite similar in my area..through only for warming up are we by a road...thank god...my alumni high school's practice field was in a hole next to a creek...many dipps in the field which equals much falling on backwards marching...>.<....plus there are never any lines....and when there are lines...they're not five to eight...damn those idiots...

no not drive by....but at games in the stands we have a student section and the thro food and other stuff at us ane we have to walk past them to get to the feild to march the show and they hit us and beat on out hats and well, they hate us...

Well, most of the people respect our marching band. However, I'm not in a high school band, and the vast majority of the people are from a commune in my town called The Community of Jesus.
...Yeah... Sometimes I hear crap about that.
But still, we perform music to the highest degree and people respect us for that. However, one time at a night practice we had a streaker run across the field while we were taking a break. I mean, doing that is so awkward, because a lot of the people are nuns and priests. sweatdrop The funniest thing was that no one really even took notice.
Yeah, but that whole thing about sports people not respecting marching bands... wtf? I mean, the whole reason the band is there is to support the team and the school, so being rude to the band is not helping anything!

nope, not that i remember, but i almost had beaten the s**t out of this guy after our homecoming football game. we lost, and then when the band members were going back to the band room, i passed by this guy who uttered something which i could hear, and that was "we lost the game because of you guys" after that i shouted in his face and was about to jab him in the face...but got held back...lucky b*****d... stare

Whenever we have a concert in the day or night, we wear our band uniform and people always tell us: Band sucks, you're a band geek etc. and I always tell them: Don't be too jealous my sax has more curves then your girlfriend, or you're just jealous.

Wow... I didn't know other band kids had it this bad... cry My band practices three hours after school gets out, so we don't even see any other students 3nodding so, no idiots. The closest we have had to that is, one time during practice, two random kids shouted at someone in our band, "Hey, aren't you on the football team?" and then left. I wasn't sure whether or not they were giggling, but after that, he had a look on his face that was like, "I hate that guy..."
And yeah, we have two "half-breeds" (kids in marching band and on the football team) in our band. And I also have a cousin who is one.
