I am captain as well. This makes my third year! :3 I even have a solo! ^.^ Our guard is doing pretty well. Our first competition is in two weeks; I really hope to place!

I was one of the captians for winterguard but this year we only had 13 people so we really don't need two capitans and I didn't get it. But people still call me the co - captian anyway. lol its really funneh but yeah were under a new BD and our show sucks its called antithesis.

Our guard only has 6 in it! eek and our band director insists that we need 2 captains x.x Our show is ok this year. It is Disney's Fantasmic; the band can't play it though...

froggyfluf Leian_Angelica hi i heart heart heart guard so much. this is only my first year and i am better than some of the returning members. i just have one question; what is a sabre? a sabre is like a sword only not sharp. it's a somewhat thin, flat piece of curved metal with a handle on one end and is around 36" long. a very delicate piece of equipment. heart Sometimes Spanish Blades can cut you if they are thin enough. xsexyxkittyx9 Green Archer I hate it when they don't move it sucks. I always have the woodwinds instructor in front of me he is so funny i always warn him though. But i do have a saber. I almost hit the assistant directer while we wre practicing for our show one time^_^ he's also my math teacher so it was pretty humourous. wink Wow, you guys are so good! I just started this year( I'm a sophomore,) but I'm trying out for captain for junior year. We are allowed to hit instructors if they are in the way. I don't understand why band members fear us so much. I mean we have just as much control with our equipment (flags especially) as they do their pitch.
We had a move where the guard was meshed with the trumpets (guard trumpet guard trumpet etc) and the guard had to do a pull over as the trumpets went the opposite direction. My trumpet (the guy behind me) had to cross the path of my pole and was terrified of flags for some reason. Even to this day I'll play the tape from that season and you'll still see him sprint away from the set thinking it'll save him. If I wanted to hit him, I would have, but I didn't. blaugh

I dunno about you, but I nearly took off a clarinet's head with my handflag last year... And one of the other girls in our guard hit a saxophone and actually caused him to collapse.. **grins** We've got a dangerous guard.

As you might have guessed by my showing up here, I'm a colorguard person... I think flag was my favorite piece of equipment, mostly because sabre hurts and rifle is too much work... well, that and I'm so out of shape I can't spin them anymore... it's been too long...

stupidgeniusoo7 I rather like the rifle, myself. It's hard to get the hang of, but after that it's quite easy. I like tossing it. biggrin Oh, I like it too, I was rifle captain my senior year. But I like flag best.

Not my fault they get too close to me! As it seems, the saxophones and clarinets are asking for a death sentence this year.. We flaggies are marching backwards, and the saxs and clarinets are going forward, and they get insanely close to us.. 'Tis not very good.
