With another smile, Nita reclaimed her hand. She wasn't necessarily a tactile person, but it was a simple gesture to impart a sense of shared empathy.

"Oh yeah, he must be out somewhere, or asleep. Usually when he's at home, you can his music. Or drumming." Nita rolled her eyes, but she wasn't particularly upset. She had almost become immune to the constant noise, and of course her spiffy headphones were a great help. "We arrived at the same time. Same helicopter and all. He's a good kid, even when he does drive me nuts." But Nita had gotten a bit of her own back the other night.

She had just been thinking that it was maybe time for a bit of a nap when Kikue asked her the time. "Not really," she admitted. "I keep track of the days, but I don't have a watch or anything. Probably about 4 o'clock though..?"

Kikue was, at least, glad to know where Alec lived now. She would be able to see him again much easier -- with his bandana -- but it also meant she could add more for him to the database she had on her computer. She still hadn't told anyone else about it, but she kept it updated. Maybe she would never really get to use it like she had envisioned, but having it was handy to look people up herself, at least.

Frowning, Kikue gave Nita a worried look. "Actually...I've been having a fairly bad problem recently. Almost since I came here, I can't sleep like I should. I always end up sleeping through the middle of the day...I wake up at the strangest hours." Scratching the side of neck ( carefully ), Kikue glanced back at Nita. "I actually came here when I did because I thought you might be home. Although...I'm already starting to feel it -- for not staying inside and asleep." It sounded crazy, but it was the truth.

Kikue was actually nervous about the situation enough to attempt to wring her hands momentarily, but it proved too tricky with the claws extending from her fingers. She ended up scratching the back of one of her hands. With a quick "Ouch," she began to lick the cut without thinking.

Had she known about it, Nita would have been very impressed with Kikue's ever-growing database, and probably would offer to share information. It wouldn't exactly be gossip, since she really wouldn't tell anything too private. But people tended to tell Nita things, even when they didn't know her very well.

"Well... are snow leopards nocturnal?" Nita asked. It was the obvious answer. "I know I rest a lot more during the day. Especially since I can see pretty well in the dark now."

Blinking, Kikue raised her head from her hand, completely at a loss as to why she wouldn't have thought of it herself. "I -- I...can't even actually remember. I did a lot of reading about it when I first found out, but I haven't gone back to the book yet..." She frowned, everything about her sleep finally coming together and clicking into place. Of course. She had mostly thought it had been stress up till this point; why had she overlooked something so obvious?

It didn't matter now, in any case. She knew the reason. So that's why. Immediately her outlook changed, and she realized she would have to adapt to it. Forcing herself to stay awake would only be unhealthy now. She would have to sleep.

"I don't know why I didn't think of that," Kikue confessed. She looked a bit stumped. It was rare for her to brush over something so blatant, yet, if she did overlook something, it was usually something that was in plain sight. She wasn't as surprised as she could be.

"I guess that explains it," she got out, her body flopping over somewhat as she sat on the side of the bed. "I've no idea why that didn't come to me. But that makes the most sense. ...That's why I'm so tired." Putting a hand to her forehead, she rubbed her eye in an exasperated way. Stated simply : it just figured.

Nita laughed aloud. "Maybe because it was the most obvious answer?" She grinned. "Don't worry about it. I did a lot of research, too, and you really can't remember all of it. And then something like that happens and BAM." She flopped over too, narrowly missing the book lying on the bed. "You should take a nap, then," she suggested sensibly. "I take lots of naps."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 25, 2006 8:29 pm

Kikue nodding, knowing that was exactly the reason she hadn't thought of it. It was always that way. Sometimes, she complicated things more than they needed to be.

She nodded again. "I've been trying to stay awake...I shouldn't, though, if that's why." She liked Nita's suggestion. "That's when I've been succumbing to these past few weeks." She smiled, reflecting on the numerous naps from even before her first change.

Still...she'd planned on staying longer. With a guilty look, she resisted the urge to bite her lip again. "...I should probably go take one...I know I'll be up at all hours of the night tonight, whether I do or not..." Kikue smiled again, glad that Nita was so comfortable with herself, even since her last change. She resolved to be a bit more like the panda girl, if she could. Like Colche, too. But her changes were still fresh, and she knew they would take time. Nevertheless, she felt a longing to be so at peace with herself as she saw Nita was laying stretched out on her bed. Don't be too hard on yourself Kikue...it's all still new to you. You will get more comfortable, with time.

"I really do think that's why," Nita said, trying not to laugh too much. It certainly wasn't mean laughter anyway. "Best not to fight it. Besides, I was never well-rested until I got here. With school and homework and crap..." She shrugged, although the movement looked awfully strange since she was lying down. "Really, you're welcome to hang out here, but," and Nita yawned widely, "I think I'm going to nap a bit myself."
PostPosted: Sun Jun 25, 2006 8:45 pm

Putting a hand behind her head, Kikue laughed nervously, knowing still how silly it was that she hadn't thought of what Nita had pointed out so easily. Yet she definitely agreed, knowing that forcing herself to stay awake was not the answer.

With a slow nod, Kikue stifled a yawn herself. "...I did mean to stay longer...but I think I'll take one, too. I'll probably take a quick shower and then go to sleep..."

Stretching a little, Kikue stood up on her sandals and nodded at the bamboo left nearby. "I hope you enjoy the food, at least." Feeling actually quite cheerful suddenly, Kikue smiled at Nita. "I think I'll come by again soon. Or maybe you can come over, and I'll show you some of my things." She hadn't had anyone over yet, and the thought seemed nice at first -- and yet, suddenly, Kikue felt something far in the back of her brain, and she suddenly didn't want anyone at all in her room. Wait -- what? Of course I don't mind if she comes... A bit confused, Kikue fell silent, then shook her head and motioned for the door. "At any rate I hope I'll see you again soon." And she meant it.

Nita stretched her arms over her head and rolled off the bed. "Well, you're welcome to stop by any time, and if we both end up totally nocturnal, we'll need someone to hang out with in the middle of the night." The girl grinned, obviously cheered up by Kikue's impromptu visit.

She made her way to the door and opened it, wincing from the blast of heat from the outside. "Ugh, quick! Get to your own air-conditioning! And thanks for the bamboo!" Nita watched as the younger girl scooted off down the row of duplexes. Shaking her head in amusement, Nita shut the door and flopped back onto her bed.

Dinner With the Doctor

Doctor Moreau
A letter is sent to Lauren's duplex which says:

Doctor Moreau

Dear Lauren,

It has come to my attention that you have found someone that you have taken an interest in. Seeing as my primary concern is for your well being, and my secondary concern being that my interests are served on my Island. I would like to invite you and your significant other to dinner at my place.

A guard will escort you up, at 8 P.M. tonight. I hope you will not be otherwise engadged, we will be serving an estravagent dinner for both of you.

I look forward to seeing you.

Dr. Nicholas Moreau

Lauren Granger
Lauren was dressed to the nines in the dress Moreau gave her the first time he won her to his side. She went up to Nita's duplex, knocking on the door.

The black dress looked good on her, but made her feel sort of uncomfortable, as if she was too dressed up or in a completely different skin then what she was used to. One would think Lauren would be used to transformation by now.

She knocked on Nita's door. "Nita..." She said nervously.

Nita MacNeal
Nita was in her usual casual get-up: a t-shirt and jeans, sagging a bit to accomodate her new tail. She was surprised and pleased to see Lauren at the door, and so elegantly dressed as well!

"Lauren!" she said, opening the door happily. "You look gorgeous. What's up?"

Lauren Granger
"I see you've changed! You look wonderful." And Lauren met it. It was actually a relief to see Nita more furry then normal.

Lauren handed Nita the letter. "Thank you!" Maybe it was a stupid thing to get all dressed up like that but hey, Moreau said it was an 'extravagant dinner' he should have something for Nita to wear.

"We're going out for dinner tonight!" Lauren said as she went to hug Nita.

Nita MacNeal
Nita stood on tiptoe to give Lauren a quick kiss on the cheek. "Oh yes, I got a lot fuzzier." She grinned and twisted around to display her new fluffy tail. "And this thing, too."

She took the letter and read it through a few times, barely understanding what it said. "Dinner? What? Tonight?" Nita stared at Lauren in her lovely dress and mentally went through the clothing in her dresser drawers. "But I don't have anything nice.. I don't even think I brought a skirt..!"

Lauren Granger
"Surprise!!" Lauren replied, throwing her hands up. "Don't worry Nita, I'm sure Moreau will have something perfect for you." Well in reality, Lauren wasn't sure at all but she was hopeing.

Nita MacNeal
Well, maybe he would. At least Nita could make herself a bit more presentable. "We don't have much time... Have a seat, and I'll try to get ready." She handed the note back to Lauren and over to her dresser.

After a few moments of rustling through drawers, Nita found a reddish wrap-around skirt (so she had brought one after all!) and a clean tanktop that matched it well enough. She disappeared into the bathroom to brush her hair out and get dressed.

Just before 8 o'clock she emerged dressed with her hair hanging loose to her waist. She had to wear the skirt low, her tail sticking out the top, but it wasn't too uncomfortable. Noticing Lauren was still barefoot, Nita decided to go the same way, since the couple pairs she had brought really wouldn't go with the oufit.

She stood in front of Lauren, a hopeful expression on her face. "Is this okay, do you think?"

Lauren Granger
Lauren leaned over towards Nita to plant a kiss on her lips. "Beautiful!" Then she grabbed her tail playfully. "Hrm... maybe we should get undressed and skip dinner." A wry smile crossed her lips, revealing her canines.

Nita MacNeal
Nita snickered and returned the kiss, blushing through her fur. "That sounds lovely," she said, "But I think we're due to be picked up any time now." Her tail waved slightly behind her.

The red panda girl tried hard not to be nervous at meeting Moreau. She had sort of met him before, right when she arrived, but these were distinctly different circumstances. Not only was he the owner of the entire Island and the one behind her changes, but he was also her girlfriend's father-figure. Wonderful.

Doctor Moreau
A Jeep pulled up at Nita's duplex. Of course they knew where they were already. They were both chipped, they could find them anywhere on the island. The guard stopped the jeep and let the engine run down a little bit. "If you two will get in I'll take you up to the labs."

Lauren Granger
Lauren grabbed Nita's hand and smiled, "Come on." Yeah so formal type fancy dinners where not her thing but it was fun every once in a while. She went up to jeep and hoped in, not really bothering to open the door.

From the inside, Lauren opened the door for Nita politely and patted the seat next to her.

Nita MacNeal
Nita held Lauren's hand tightly and followed her to the Jeep. She attempted a smile at the guard and climbed in next to Lauren. "Thanks," she said, buckling her seatbelt automatically.

Doctor Moreau
The jeep drove towards the labs. As usual per it's approach the gates opened automatically when they got close. They pulled into a parking lot and the guard escorted them towards the main lab building.

After going through the main lobby he took both Nita and Lauren to the Elevator. The elevator opened, he waited for them to get in and then said "Mansion". The elevator door closed as the elevator began to rise high up into the mountain and into the mansion that had been built into it.

Lauren Granger
Lauren waited for the elevator to reach it's destianation, still holding onto Nita's hand. She wondered if she was over dressed, perhaps she should of talked more to Moreau about this whole thing.

Nita MacNeal
Of course, next to Lauren, Nita felt ridiculously underdressed. The note had said "extravagant."

The first part of the trip, up to the labs, was familiar enough from Nita's recent trip to the hospital. However, she had never been to the mansion; the prospect was rather daunting.

Doctor Moreau
The elevator opened Moreau in a suit was standing there. "Welcome, both of you." He half bowed to Nita and smiled at Lauren. "I'm glad you could join me for dinner."

"You both look lovely... but I have presents, if you care to change." Moreau reached over and handed them both a large box, with a small box on top of it. "There is a room you can change in over there." Moreau motioned to a nearby large washroom/dressing room.

If opened, they would reveal extravogant dresses that made the first one that Lauren was given appear cheap. In the box on top there is expensive earrings and necklesses to compliment the outfit. Each outfit looks like it cost atleast a few thousand.

Lauren Granger
Lauren opened up the box and smiled at Nita, "I told you!" She said. "THANKS!" She added to Moreau. The mongoose had hoped Nita wasn't too nervous, she wanted her girlfriend to be comfortable around her so called family. But Lauren also knew Moreau was a person most islanders hated and feared.

Maybe all of this would get Nita comfortable around him, allow her to understand more where Lauren is comming from.

Lauren blushed a bit. It seemed kind of weird to get changed in the same room with her girlfriend at her 'dads' house. Regardless she went into the room and beckoned for Nita to follow.

Nita MacNeal
Nita smiled back at Moreau, clearly not in her element but making a rather impressive effort not to appear like a fish out of water. A red panda out of the forest? Whatever.

"Thank you, sir," she said, accepting both boxes. She peeked into the larger one as she followed Lauren.

Lauren Granger
Lauren gave Nita a quick smooch as the entered the room, "So... how are you feeling?" She asked. Maybe she was worrying too much about things.

The mongoose changed as she listened, not really doing much to her hair other than tossing it up. Her ears hadn't had earrings in them forever and were no longer pierced so she couldn't bother with the earrings. Changing closed the small holes that were left in her ears.

Still, the shinyness of them impressed her. It seemed so important, more then usual to hold something shiny. She wanted desperately to hide them somewhere safe so she could go back to look at them from time to time.

Nita MacNeal
"I'm okay," Nita shrugged. "Just... weird. I dunno." She smiled, pushing aside the desire to curl up somewhere and hide.

Nita couldn't help but be impressed with the dress and the jewelry, although she had never had her ears pierced, so the earrings didn't do much good. The necklace, however, was quite lovely, matching the dress perfectly. Once changed, Nita dragged her fingers through her hair again. One good thing about claws, at least, was that it made finger-combing her hair awfully easy. She set the boxes aside and reached for Lauren's hand.

"Shall we?"

Doctor Moreau
Moreau waited for the two women to come out dressed. He internally cursed himself for not considering the earrings. "Those look ravishing on both of you." The strong smell of food waffs into the room.

"This way to the dining room." Moreau lead both of them to the impressive dining room that Lauren had seen before. Large and extravogant it had a long table. Across the front part of the table, where the three of them would be sitting was wine, and a distinctly asian smelling dish in sauce.

"I had my chefs prepare this with for you both. It is gourmet meat and bamboo shoots, in a rich asian sauce. Only in your cases, I had them cooked together, but the meat and bamboo shoots were seperated for each of you." Moreau motioned where they would each be sitting.

"I don't think you'll have ever had anything like it." Moreau had his own mixed bowl sitting in front of him. There were chop sticks there, but he had also laid out the silverware in the traditional style.

Lauren Granger
Lauren held Nita's hand and moved over to the table. The meal did smell wonderful, and very meaty. She tried to control her excitement over the food.

When the came to the table, Lauren pulled the chair out for Nita and motioned for her to sit down. Lauren set down in the chair beside her.

"Looks AWESOME!" Lauren exclaimed. "I'm not sure I have..." She stared a bit at the chopsticks. Lauren didn't have a clue as to how to use them, and wasn't sure if her clawed hands could even work them well. She decided to use the silverware instead blissfully unaware of the difference between which fork was which.

Nita MacNeal
Nita quirked a brow as Lauren helped her into her seat, a bit amused at such 'courtly' behavior. She took in the impressive spread, which did indeed smell very good.

"Oh, it does look very good," she agreed, picking up the chopsticks. It was a bit awkward with her claws, but otherwise her hands were mostly the same, and bamboo shoots were easy enough to handle anyway.

Doctor Moreau
"I'd considered a multiple course meal... but I know that both your tastes are becomming more particular." Moreau nodded. "I hope it's all satisfactory. I try to be generous. Especially with Lauren here, she is very special to me." Moreau smiled and nodded, as he ate his food with the chopsticks with ease.

Moreau knew that they were a bit young for wine, but this was his island. He'd given them each a glass, not enough to get drunk or anything silly like that.

Lauren Granger
Lauren's mouth was full, but manners where not really anything she knew much of. She smiled at Moreau's comment not really finding any words to say. "You're too good to me doc." She finally replied. She reached over for the wine, it smelled very pugnant more then it should. Still she put the glass to her black lips and sipped.

It didn't taste very good. Lauren made a bit of a face, her taste buds weren't made for alcohol. But it was better then the street brew some of the kids had created. That stuff could kill. She reached for the water shortly after.

Nita MacNeal
Nita tried not to let the awkwardness get to her, and it really did seem that Moreau took special care of Lauren. Or at least he was willing to spend an awful lot of money on her, she thought. No time for that kind of thinking, though; Nita carefully kept her expression separate from her feelings.

She took a sip of the wine to clear her mouth. The girl was 21 and no stranger to alcohol, although she had never been particularly fond of wine. This wasn't bad, though, and even her unschooled palate could tell it went well with the meal. "Lauren is special to me, too, sir," Nita said softly, sneaking a glance at the tall girl beside her. "It's good to know she has people to care for her."

Doctor Moreau
"I want to know that your treating her well of course. I realize you were brought here falsely and I know that there are some unpleasent aspects. But you must understand I do everything I can to make life here easy and even fun. No other commitments... how has your time here been." Moreau directing his questions to Nita. He knew where Lauren's loyalty lied. But perhaps Nita could be as useful... if she'd let herself be used.

Lauren Granger
Lauren felt kind of bad about Nita being drilled like this, but she kept quiet, reaching her hand under the table to pat Nita's leg in a comforting fashion. She smiled at the girl nervously, hopeing she had enjoyed her stay here.

Nita MacNeal
Good grief, this was weird. On the one hand, here was Moreau acting like any protective father meeting his daughter's significant other for the first time (and he didn't seem to have any issues with Lauren having a girlfriend). And on the other hand... Moreau was a brilliant-and-probably-insane scientist holding over fifty people captive on an island and turnig them into animals.

"Sir, I would never intentionally hurt Lauren," Nita said honestly. "And..." She paused. What exactly do you say to such a brilliant-and-probably-insane scientist while eating dinner... whether or not his adopted daughter was your girlfriend? "My time has been pleasant, mostly. I have friends, and Lauren of course. I'm sure you heard about my, ah, medication issue, which was not so great." If he wouldn't beat around the bush, neither would she.

Doctor Moreau
"I was barely aware of that happening. I also wasn't aware at that time that you were so important to Lauren here. I will make sure it is not an issue again. You should recieve your medication as normal from here on." Moreau smiled in a very friendly manner.

"I just want you comfortable here, I'd like to see you both happy here. If your willing to make the best of it, I can perhaps make it the best for you." Moreau grinned a bit and sipped his wine.

"Lauren here gets everything I can provide."

Lauren Granger
"Nita is a very awesome girlfriend!" Lauren exclaimed, "I can vouch for that. She really should get everything she wants." The mongoose had wanted to make her the happiest red panda on the island, even if she was the only red panda on the island.

Lauren was feeling like a very happy and very spoiled young woman right now. She felt like a princess, and even being as tough as she usally acted most girls still enjoyed that feeling. She finished off her meat, her tail wagging behind her chair.

Nita MacNeal
Nita stifled a giggle at Lauren's outburst, squeezing her hand gratefully under the table.

"Thank you; Dr. Lockheart assured me of that." Nita really had no desire to repeat that particular experience. She took a few more sips from her glass to calm herself, having finished the main part of her meal. "I do try to keep myself busy. It does get a bit dull though, honestly." Nita bit the inside of her cheek at that; what was she thinking?

Doctor Moreau
"Well, I don't ask much in exchange. An acceptance of the situation, an understanding that I do attempt to make it better, and a certain level of loyalty... to me." Now Moreau got to the point. He realized that Nita wasn't like Lauren and likely to fly at someone who attacked his name.

But having people inside the Islanders never hurt...

Lauren Granger
Lauren had no idea of Moreau's alterior motive until he had spoken it. It didn't seem like much to ask for, but Lauren didn't want Nita to think this was all her idea just in case she wasn't up to such a thing.

The mongoose was trapped between a rock and a hard place. But she had to help Moreau, she owed her life the the man. He is the one that brought her and Nita together. "That isn't really hard at all, kind of easy. Especially when he sees to you get everything you need immediately." Lauren added finally.

Nita MacNeal
Nita sat silently for a moment, thoughts racing. Of course Moreau would have planned something like this. But had Lauren known? No, Nita decided, her nervousness ahead of time convinced her that the girl had had no idea. Her tail flicked slightly under her dress... the ridiculously expensive dress given to her by Moreau himself.

"I do try my best to accept what's happened here; what's happened to me. And.. And I also do realize that we have it pretty good here," she finally said, her furred hands fidgeting with the hem of the tablecloth. As for loyalty, Nita didn't trust Moreau any farther than she could throw him. Nita glanced at Lauren, wondering how she and the doctor would take her carefully worded response.

Doctor Moreau
"So we can count on you then? If it comes up? Perhaps help some of the others see the brighter side of things..." Moreau was more to the point here. He wasn't sure if Nita was avoiding his question intentionally... or if that was just her way of responding.

Moreau sipped his wine glass casually and picked up a small piece of the bamboo shoot and ate it.

Lauren Granger
Lauren sat quietly, just holding Nita's hand under the table and smileing in her direction. It was like the two sides of her own self were colliding. Nita brought the good up in Lauren, the part of Lauren that she thought had died when Lauren's mother died. Moreau brought in comfort, he was the father she never had and at the same time he brought out the pained side in herself, the side that was abused so much that she could find pleasure in others pain.

It was a very akward moment for Lauren. She hoped Nita would say yes, then she would get it all over with. There would be no internal conflict for the girl, none at all. She would have those two sides permanently merged and never have to question them.

Entirely too akward, she poked at the remnants of her meal. Food was left on her plate that she didn't want to eat, an all too unusual thing for Lauren.

Nita MacNeal
She could feel them both watching her. Nita swallowed a few times, hoping she wasn't too obviously stalling for time. But... "Helping some of them see the brighter side," Nita repeated. "That I can do."

The girl smiled weakly, thinking of Cody and Kikue, the youngest islanders she knew. Nita had helped them, she was pretty sure, even if it was just by sharing their fear and anger. She had felt quite a lot of both emotions over the past few months, and maybe her own experiences really could help some of the others. Nita bit her lip and nodded, a bit more confident. "I've already tried to help some of them," she said.

Doctor Moreau
"Good! Glad to hear it... now we can continue this wonderful meal. If you need anything don't hestitate to ask me. I can provide most things for you. Just not anything that could be used to hurt another islander, or for an escape, or for communication. But anything else your heart desires, I can likely provide." Moreau lifted his glass.

"A toast, to new relationships and friends..." Moreau grinned. He'd test her loyalty soon enough. After all, he couldn't have someone with Lauren that wasn't dedicated to him.

Lauren Granger
The tension eased, Lauren raised her glass to join the toast, "Hell yeah!" She exclaimed then drank a little bit of the wine only to be hit by the bitterness yet again.

Lauren was very happy that Nita seemed to be on the same side that she was.

Nita MacNeal
"Yes, of course," Nita said, and nodded her understanding. Not that she was likely to want to hurt anyone anyway, and escape hadn't been much on her mind for quite some time. She raised her glass, extremely relieved that the tension wasn't nearly so thick, and took a decent sip of the wine.

Doctor Moreau
The rest of the meal went very much the same. Moreau kept to himself with a grin through most of it after that. When they were finished Moreau had Nita and Lauren escorted back to Nita's duplex. When they arrived there they found a larger bed and new clothes for both of them stored there. As well as an LCD TV mounted on the wall with a DVD player built in.

Apparently, they had Moreau's approval.

Nita climbed the stairs to her duplex, being careful not to step on the hem of her dress. Her head was a bit fuzzy, partially from the wine but mostly from the events of the evening. It had been an interesting meal, to say the least. Pushing the door open, Nita was instantly aware of the difference. The closet door was open, and she knew she hadn't left it that way.

And then there was the new, larger bed, and enormous TV.

"Jesus Christ, he works fast," Nita said, impressed.

Lauren smiled as she saw the bed, "I guess he does." She flopped down onto the bed, her expensive dress flying with her and miraculously not becomming torn.

"I didn't really know anything about tonight... just so you know." She said immediately. "Everything was as much of a surprise to me as it was to you. But hell, we got some really cool stuff out of it!"

Nita sat down next to Lauren, still being careful of the dress and not wanting to squash her tail. "I figured you didn't," Nita told her, "but the thought did cross my mind. I'm really glad I was right!" With a sigh, she lay back and curled against Lauren's shoulder.

"So.. I mean, I know he's kind of your dad and all.. but... Do you think he liked me?" Nita blushed.

Lauren pet Nita's head, "Oh yeah, I do. Why else do you think he would of planted this television in here?" She ran her clawed fingers through Nita's loose hair, careful not to pull on any tangles that she had come across.

Nita sighed, wanting to avoid more skeptical answers. "I guess," she agreed quietly. She nuzzled against Lauren. At least the new bed seemed pretty comfortable, and felt nice to have someone playing with her hair.
