Ruunan [HR] - 16 - app woodsmith - he/him/his
In the fanfare that was this shaking and hatching of eggs, Ruunan found himself slowly drifting down a river of his own idle daydreams. No matter how much he tried to focus his mind, he still felt somehow disconnected from the proceedings. He was a little shell that radiated hope and encouragement.
When the realisation struck him that the anxious baby was Hufflepuff’s resident, his heart leapt for a moment. It had recognised his own disquiet during the Touching… Ruunan has thought them alike… and had hoped… but there was a glimmer to the little hide that showed, and once the baby emerged, and made her way unerringly towards the girls, Ruunan knew.
It was a gold. A beautiful, worried gold baby. He tried not to let his disappointment show, tucking it away in the depths of his mind to ponder later. And yet, his heart still ached as he watched her progress amongst the ladies, and stop before a candidate he didn't know. Impression.
He clapped, as was polite, and shifted his attention back to the eggs. The floaty, not-quite-there feeling returned, as though the hatching was happening to another Ruunan. Shells. The sands were warm…

From the Stands, Ryah gave a supportive whoop. A GOLD, ladies and gentleman. "Well done," she said aloud. Our queens are strong. Do you see that? Already two bronzes and a gold. Bet there's more. Basking in the loving glow of Impressions had Ryah floating. Why don't you fly one some day? I know you could. Look there, another proud blue caught one of our queens. That could be us! It was no secret that Ryah wanted more acclaim and had more ambition than her gentle blue.
Above her somewhere, Kairinth rumbled pleasantly. Are you playing matchmaker for me, or yourself, Ryahmine? If I fly, I fly. If I don't, I don't. It wasn't his style to compete, though he still did from time to time, when the mood struck. Knowing Kai, it would never strike when Ryah wanted it to.
No blues yet, hm, he thought calmly.
I'd like more bluerider sisters too. This was something that both rider and dragon could agree on.

Tarnaria
Tarnaria let out another gasp of delight, watching as the Hufflepuff baby Impressed to Marty. "Oh, congratulations! She's beautiful!" She'd have to make a special gold-glazed bread dragon just for the new Goldrider! And get to know who she was, maybe. Oh, there'd be time to do that! Maybe even at the feast!
Lady Grey
Ah, so the tiny shy one was a gold! The baby was far too shiny to be a brown, and from what little Lady Grey knew, bronzes didn't Impress to girls, which by a leap of logic meant that it had to be a gold. She smiled, relaxing a bit more to watch. Her gaze eventually wandered to the other eggs, wondering what lay hidden within and who they would Impress to.

HAVELI
A shame the gold didn't come for her sister, Haveli thought, but it'd chosen someone from...Western, instead. It solved the issue of having a High Reaches candidate lay claim to such a clearly ...whatever it was dragon, and that was fine. They could go off and be happy together and do whatever it was they seemed to think they could do. Haveli's interest was gone and she squeezed back tight against Arlie's hand. She knew it was her sister's method of warning, of trying to be nice, but Haveli didn't want friends. She wanted results.
It was then a blue finally tumbled on to the scene, a wonderful color change from the part that was two greens and a wannabe green bronze. "Interesting." Also the coward was still there, why? Why was Arlie having a conversation with him? Did she plan on using him as a meat shield, eventually?

Grumioll He withdrew his wrist with a jerk, as if he’d been burnt, head turning with the same suddenness to stare at the one who’d touched him. Clearly this one wasn’t familiar with him, or else she wouldn’t have done it. He was… troubled by the thought of what might have happened if she’d done anything more than that gentle touch. Her words, too… they’d been shouted at him many times over the turns, the harsh voices willing him to rend and destroy. But this one… she meant no such thing. In this world of light and freedom, it was a ritual meant to reinforce someone who might otherwise be too weak to succeed. If Gru had any sense of honor, the idea would have been appealing. But all he felt was confusion. According to the rules of the ritual… he should have been the one to tell her that!
“Look at them,” he said, pointing at the dragonets with a thrust of his chin. “Don’t let them come closer than four arm lengths away from you, unless it’s yours.” It wasn’t exactly well-wishes, but it was sound advice from his own experience. If she followed it, she should be able to dodge in time if a dragon lunged at her. And survival was, well… required.

Nyarana [HR] - 19 - she/her/hers - App Beastcrafter
Nyaranau gave Lusi a wide smile, resisting the urge to pat her on the shoulder, or head. No, people were not herdbeasts. Ruunan tolerated it out of brotherly duty, but regular folk weren’t so keen on personal bubbles being popped! “Don’t you worry then! It’s going to be just fine. I can feel it. You can always feel when it’s going to be a good one.” And, in the back of her mind, she was already imagining herself as Lusialu’s protector, should something go awry. Nobody was going to hurt a first-timer, not on her watch!
As Vaali was roped into their tiny group, Nyara inclined her head in greeting, her smile becoming a grin. “Lovely to meet you too, Vaali.” Her attention drifted back to the eggs, and she tilted her head in contemplation of the newcomer’s question. A bronze? Hum… hard to say, at this distance…
But… yes, it was gold. “So lucky- these clutches are going to be so lucky!” Her heart sang a joyful little tune echoed by her sing-song words, and she resisted the urge to dance then and there. Sure, she hadn’t Impressed… yet. But it was only a matter of time, right? “Look at her go! You can do it, sweet thing.” She cheered for the baby as the gold made her way through the female candidates and settled before Marty.
But she glanced over at her brother, knowing he had felt attached to that egg in particular. Next time, she willed him to understand.
There was a blue, too, and it looked like the green had hatched. The bronze was still wondering- having conversations with unhatched eggs? “They’re all so beautiful. What are you two hoping to Impress?” Nyara turned the question on her new-found protegees, a beatific smile plastered on her dark features.

Lucius—High Reaches Candidate
He couldn’t help but blink down at Zelaya as they spoke to him, a frown crossing his features as he did so. It was all well and good to do something you were meant to do but, he worried if they were pushing themselves too hard to meet the expectations of someone else. He didn’t say anything though as he smiled back at her, pausing to turn and look at Rhianth as she rumbled out a growl. He supposed he had been too wrapped up in speaking to Zelaya to even pay attention to what was going on. The heroic bronze had impressed and he felt a small bit of disappointment at that. Well, he hoped that they would save many with their chosen, he wasn’t the only young man who wanted to be a hero after all.
“A green is a good color. Just like the others.” He finally spoke to them, eyes moving back to watch the anxious little egg show herself to be gold and then impress as well. He didn’t know the girl that impressed, must have been a candidate from Western. “I’m sure whatever color chooses you, it will be making the best choice.”
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
C’ryn of Bronze Aresoth
The anxious little egg seems to have finally calmed down enough to come out. C’ryn nodded his head at his bronze’s words, watching as the dark golden hatchling moved towards the girl. The bronze from before already impressed, though he was curious about the little gold.
“Seems like that little Queen is from Rhianth’s brood.” There was a snort from Aresoth at this and C’ryn shook his head some. The Queen’s preferred mate of choice didn’t bother the bronze that much but to deny that it opened up new possibilities for others did cause him to raise an eyebrow some. Then again if they could produce good stock then they should be allowed to fly, there was a reason why Bronze’s and Browns were able to fly a queen, even if many at High Reaches seemed to prefer a bronze hide.
She’s impressed. His eyes watched the golden queen with her new rider before they returned to move back to the rest of the hatchlings. There was still a bronze on the sands, two greens and a blue now. Many more eggs needed to hatch.

Arlie (phone)
So he had been to a Hatching before? It was...a little nice, and a little frightening, to know that the shakes didn’t wear off so easily when it came to these things. She wondered if someone had hurt him at one. A baby? A candidate? Shards, what if it happened here...?
No, no, don’t focus on that. Look, the cute gold and green had found theirs! Arlie didn’t have enough in her to be anything other than relieved, oddly. Of course, the gold needed someone strong to watch her. Arlie would have just botched the responsibilities anyway. Wait, positive thoughts.
Haveli still had a chance. There we go.
“Did either’ve you make a bet before the Hatching?” Arlie asked them, as if one wasn’t ready to bolt and the other wasn’t radiating an aura of <******** off.
