There was soft muttering of voices beyond the door of the room Zaku was in. The room itself was color a pale tan with the lights dimmed low. There was one other medical bed in the room but it was empty, its sheets nicely folded for the next patient. There was a TV on the wall and monitors and a few other machines set to the side of the room. Zaku was covered with one of the blankets, an IV taped into his arm with an SIU medical outfit, only his collar remained the same. In his pocket was a pill and that was all. Outside of that collar he was free, there were no guards at all in the room and seemed like the door could possible be unlocked.

One difference he note if he tried, was that he could use his powers at a low level.

Zaku took a deeper breath and opened his eyes, staring at the ceiling before running a hand through his hair in a slight distress. There was a moment he hoped it had just been a terrible dream but after a very brief search and feeling the pill in his pocket, the dread set in that it was real. He frowned, now able to think on everything. What a cruel joke... save the one he loved, only to kill his mother. He wasn't even sure he could even do that. But faced with a decision of who's life to save... between Tri and Mara's. He didn't want to make that choice. He unhooked the IV and ran both hands through his hair and held them there for a few moments, his thoughts rapidly cycling as he tried to force himself to decide and was having a difficult time even wanting to think about it at all. He... could he do this... he didn't know.

Finally, he sat up and came to a stand, weighing options and moved to try to leave the room.

The door was unlocked, outside was the same scene he seen before when he visited medical. A handful of people moving past a familiar looking desk and guards near to the entrance doors. The room by him was empty, the door open and the lights completely off while the room to the other side of him was open a hair with the light on dim like in his own room.

Every now and then one of the people at the desk would look in the direction of Zaku's room before moving back to her work. Everything seemed calm, it was also late at night which could have been another reason.

Zaku frowned as he glanced at the woman at the desk and moved when she wasn't looking to the room that seemed to have the lights on. He was trying to be quiet, but all in all, he was still too lost in thought for most anything at the moment. I guess he had to look for Mara. That... seemed simple. It was everything if he found her that was weighing heavily on his mind.

The person at the desk was deeply concentrated in something she was reading and signing through. No one else seem to notice as Zaku slipped into the other room which did have one person there. Mara was asleep, an unhealthy look on her face as she slept deeply under the covers.

The wheel chair from the broadcast with Tri was seen off to the side as well as a binder with some paperwork.

She was currently hooked up to a heart monitor and an IV and completely unaware of his presence.

Zaku frowned as he saw Mara in the hospital bed, closing the door and locking it, small vines slowly cracked through the floor at its base began to grow up the door to ensure no one would be interrupting anytime soon. He frowned as he took a slow but deep breath. Moving to the heart monitor, he powered it off and moved to levitate up over the bed and moved on top of her, knees holding her arms down. Wrapping his hands exactly where they needed to be to easily squeeze to stop her breathing. His expression was sad, but he knew what to do. Even though his heart ached and he had barely brought himself to this. All for Tri. He had bargained, and this was that price. He didn't want to know, didn't want to feel. He wanted to be anyone else right now.

Mara continued to sleep quietly if not peacefully shifting only a little in discomfort. Outside the people at the desk spoke softly, no one aware or even attempting to enter the room.

He just kept choking her, feeling guilty that she was so vulnerable and here he was ready to kill her in cold blood, just on the constant reassurance it was for Tri. His hands trembling by now even if he tightened his grip. Clenching teeth and furrowed brow, he closed his eyes, struggling to watch himself even do this. Even despite all he had seen by now and yet he couldn't watch... even if he was the one at the helm of such a deed. His mouth moved as if he was repeating something to himself but not speaking it, just reminding himself why he was even doing this.

Mara woke with a start, gasping for air and trying to push the covers away when she met familiar blue eyes and the panic turn to one of rage and fear. She struggled trying to free her arms as shadows formed and weakly clawed at his face. She struggled and bucked trying to get him off or warn the people outside.

Zaku winced at the pain of her attack but for the most part he was almost numb, in fact, the feeling of claws across made him feel something out of everything that had dulled by now. The struggle of her body, it was all... really sad. He let out a shaky breath, continuing to squeeze. The longer this all went on, the more difficult it was becoming, there were tears forming in his eyes. Granted, he had been fairly neutral about Mara as his enemy, but this was...cruel. But he had to. To protect.... what. Who knew anymore. The weight of deals and consequences, he just wanted to be done. He kept his eyes closed, he couldn't look, no matter what. This was... for Tri. Wasn't it? His mind so focused on everything. He had gotten Ame killed,....Hexxis...and now Mara. The pain was worse than anything he felt. Was it worth his life to make him hate him for all this. At least he was right, he was the last person Tri should have ever liked, he just a monster on strings tied to Haven, his greatest enemy, within grand sacrifices and trying to balance everything and failing. Would there even be anything left. There was a small hitch in his throat. Just... just stop breathing....

The rage had turned to pure hate as she kept on struggling almost for a moment getting her hand free but it wasn't enough to free it altogether. Slowly she was starting to lose the fight, her struggles were slowing down but still going. Gold eyes were dulling slightly but she still fought with everything she had within her even if it didn't seem to be enough.

Zaku was struggling in his own mind with everything, just trying to keep focused on the task. Breathing a little more heavily to compensate for how much his mind was breaking. As she started to lose fight, he opened his eyes suddenly, staring at her with a mixture of surprise and despair. "...i...have to..." he muttered. "..they'll.." It was like he wasn't even actually talking to her but to himself. "...they'll..." he repeated, nothing else could get out as clenched his teeth harder. He was staring at her, Tri's mother... in a hospital bed....... just like Silver.

He took in a shaky breath, and that's when the tears fell, "...i'm sorry... i'm sorry..." he muttered as he tightened his grip then let go. He was crying, and just hugged Mara. "...i'm so sorry..." he choked out. "...they'll kill him... but he wouldn't want this... I know him... I... I can't do this..." he hugged her a little tighter like a scared child. "...they're going to kill him..." he repeated, trying to come to terms with that fact but it did nothing to ease the pain he felt. Gaia, what had he done... was this the right choice...
He didn't know. All he knew was he couldn't kill everyone in Tri's family to protect him. He didn't deserve that.

Mara gasped for air the moment he let go taking a few deep breaths as he hugged her and started blabbing about what she could only assume was Tri, Tri who was now recovering close to here to what they did to his head who might not ever be the same as he was and Zaku....Gaia wasn't he supposed to be dead? what were those idiots thinking.

She took those seconds just to regain enough air to let out a scream, it wasn't a fearful scream but one of rage as she tried to alert whoever was outside as she grabbed him back and tried to grapple with him trying to move on top so she could pin him down.

The moment it was a fight, his tears did nothing to weigh on the serious look that took over. Trying to push away from her, levitate, get away. At this point it didn't matter, he needed to go. "Idiot!!" he exclaimed. He tried to grab the sides of her face and get her to focus on him. "Mara, I'm not ******** playing with you right now. Haven is about to kill Tri because I can't kill you, Tri wouldn't want that. Nothing matters now but saving him and if you're not going to, then I ******** will!" he helped in anger. Narrowed eyes, "...do not make me regret sparing you..." he spoke coldly as his next goal was to get to Tri before they did.

She didn't let go, it was as if the return of air also brought with it a new surge of adrenaline as she held him down, levitation and all, with the full force of her shadow claws. "You already regret it Zaku. " she growled and shook her head as more shadows grabbed at his hands. "Do you think I am playing with you?! Haven wouldn't dare...." she said but then paused as she put more pressure and glared as she realized he was proof that they would, ignoring the soft jingle of the handle, knowing they will get it open soon.

"It doesn't matter. Stay the heck away from Tri...the only reason they even took him must have been because of you" she said hatefully as there were a few puffs of air nearby. "If you were d-" she stopped in mid sentence, eyes widening in surprise as she opened her mouth and nothing came out. A few seconds later she collapsed on him, warmth tricking from her head onto him as the shadows all faded back to where they belonged.

The women from the desk stood there as she lowered her silencer and stared at Zaku, the door behind her was still intact with plants and all. "You failed. They knew you would. Take your pill and go back to the other room" she said with no emotion at all. "We will clean up " she said staring down at Mara without even a flicker of emotion.
