Another day, another club. Seb had to admit that he was busier this year than anticipated. Especially since he now had added Prefect tasks, more clubs, and (probably) still quidditch. But for now, he had things to do. Mama had gotten him a new camera for his birthday this year, and he was eager to show it to his friends at the Daily Dragon. If Sierra and Adi didn't appreciate it, Eddie probably would! His dad owned the camera store!
He hurried off, squawking when he fell down a few steps. At least his camera was safe (even if his tailbone was a bit sore). He carefully got himself stood back up, laughing off his fall as he kept up on his walk. Closer to the newsroom, he found Adi, who was walking toward the club himself. "Hey-di, Adi! need a walkin' buddy?" Adi laughed, offering a nod. "Sure, Seb! We're off to the same place anyhow."
The two walked together, and into the room. "What's that about photographers? I got a new camera for my birthday!" He rooted into his bag and held out his shiny new camera. He'd already run through a whole reel of film taking pictures around Diagon Alley. With that handled, he looked at the sign-in forms. Aw beans, there were a lot of questions. "Don't worry, Seb. You and I can fill them out together." Ah, Seb loved having good friends. The two quietly talked as Adelai filled out Seb's forms, and then the older teen noticed that Adi talked through his own form. It was almost like he was making it less awkward. Good lad. Finally, Adi turned both in to Sierra.

☆¸¸ .•*¨★ Sierra smiled gratefully as Bieto took charge on one of the more trickier typewriters and just stood back to watch. She did however raise an eyebrow as he mentioned Lewis' supposed "big plans" which knowing that dork could mean anything from a grand mural to a campfire by the lake. Both of which would work for her but really, the better one had chocolate. She was about to ask about the plans when he seemed happily surprised by the tea which had her grin widen. "I didn't but good to know. It's charmed tea, supposed to taste like your favorite. I found it in a shop in Thailand. Pretty great right?" Maybe she'd include a satchel alongside some herbal tea to Bieto when she officially handed the paper down to him. She was about to ask him how he felt about Hufflepuff's chances at the cup when a first year came in and very seriously introduced herself while in the same breath basically explaining her plans for world domination. Sorry. Photography.
She honestly might've even laughed a bit had it a) not been a firstie and b) not had poor Eddie coming in thinking he'd lost his livelihood. She swore, her artists took their jobs wayy more seriously than the writers. Sierra just shared a quick look with Bieto before tackling one issue at a time. Grabbing her notebook, she wrote out her words quickly before handing it to Irmak with a quick grin. "Hi, I'm Sierra Whitethorne the Editor in Chief for the paper. Please excuse my note, I'm deaf and use BSL but I wasn't sure if you knew it. I have no doubt you'll be a great writer and asset to the paper before you make your grand takeover change."
After giving over the note, she walked over to Eddie who was now surrounded by her other flock of lenses Seb and Addy causing her to chuckle quietly to herself. "No worries Eddie, Irmak, the first year, was just explaining how she was going to stick with writing for a while since I already have the best of the best." she signed to him barely resisting ruffling his head. He was good kid, kinda an oddball but a good one at least. Sierra did not however hold back from doing the same to Sebastian's wild locks as Addy handed her both their forms.
"That's great! Can't wait to see what you can do with it. Go ahead and grab some of the snacks and tea. I brought something special this year." she instructed as she filed away the forms into their separate piles. Before she could even look up, another form slid its way over to her causing her to look up and sigh at the sight of Rosa in her beaming glory. Would she miss her? Maybe. Would she ever tell her that? Absolutely not.

Bieito watched as Sierra grinned happily, then watched her hands move as she signed. Apparently the tea was charmed, which was epic! He set his cup down, then moved to sign in return. "Charmed tea? That's insane! I also like these crunchy strawberry things. You always know the best snacks to choose." He laughed softly, but he was serious. While he was an okay-ish cook, he wouldn't have thought to bring candied berries and charmed tea. Sierra had always thought about bringing fancy treats. She was just a thoughtful person overall.
He looked over when one of the new first years (Irmak, in Slytherin) said she was taking over the photography eventually, but for now, she'd stick to writing. Oh boy. And, of course, Eddie walked in right at that time..... Thankfully, Sierra went quickly to explain the situation to Eddie. "Oh. Well... okay. I got a new camera. And a new vintage this year. So I would like to continue my typical role. Thank you."
Seb laughed happily when Sierra said his new camera was cool. "It has an action pictures button!" And then Seb and Adi went to the snack table. Bee tittered when he saw the fifth year sniff the tea and set it back down before grabbing a little waffle instead. Adi grabbed some tea, before shifting to sit on his walker for a bit. "I also noted that I can do editing this year, if you need. I wasn't sure if it needed a second form, but if it does, I'll fill it out." He gave a grin as he sipped his tea. At least he looked happy too. "Oh, oui, I can do editing too, if you need. I don't mind a bit of extra work." Bee added, smiling over at Sierra before crunching on another strawberry.

Despite being in some fun clubs last year, Poppy had decided she wanted to try out a few more this year. One of those was the school newspaper! Sure, she'd never tried journalism, but they had a comics section... and surely someone would help her figure out the writing part. Plus, it looked great for her eventual resume. Her hair turned a lovely nectarine color with her determination to nail this. It was probably an audition of some sort, so she had to be on top of her game.
Stepping in, she looked around excitedly. Her hair shifted to a vibrant yellow with her curiosity. Oh wait. She was here for an interview, probably! No wait. There were just application forms. Heck yea! Even easier.... now what role did she want to take? "Excuse me, are we allowed to fill out for multiple roles? I'm not sure which I would be best at, and want to try my hand at a few." After getting an approval, she tossed her now venitian red hair over her shoulder as she worked on filling them out.

Thankfully, this Friday evening was a beautiful day. Bieito had been studying before dinner, and after brought him to the news room. He wanted to make sure everything was perfect and try to make sure to honor not only Sierra, but his brother before her. It would be really grand to make sure the club was just lovely again. Thankfully, that afternoon had granted him enough time to stop in at the student kitchen and very, very carefully make three different types of macarons. There were chocolate, french vanilla, and a raspberry lemon on a nicely made platter. He set the tray down on the front desk beside all the application forms, then he went about taking off the dust covers on all the typewriters and making sure the desks were all tidy. The dark room was set up by himself yesterday, so everything was perfectly ready. And once he was done, he leaned against the desk, ready to watch his friends wander in.

It was time yet again for the first meeting of the Daily Dragon. While Eddie had gone all four previous years, this one would be the first to bring along a sibling. Since he knew Iana wanted to go into journalism like their Uncle Connor, he had convinced her to give the club a try. Before dinner, he packed his newest camera and all its lenses into his big padded camera bag, then went down to meet his sister for a nice dinner. Following that, he led the way to the news room. "Do you think they can even use more photographers? With you, and you said you've got a few friends who do it too?" She questioned, clutching her camera close as she hurried along beside him. "Yes, of course I am sure. Besides, you said you might like to give writing a try as well, right?" He returned a question, earning a sigh from the younger Overton.
As they walked in, Eddie noticed they were the first ones there, besides, of course, the new captain. "Oh! Hey Eddie, come on in, you two! And grab a macaron. I made them myself." He greeted happily, and Eddie waved. "Good evening, Bieito. I have brought along my little sister, Iana. She is wanting to try her hand at journalism." Hopefully it was enough to break the ice on both sides. "Awesome news! Nice to meet you, Iana." Bieito offered a hand for a shake, earning a look of surprise from the first year.
"Did you know that the number of pathogens passed during a handshake is staggering. It's actually safer to kiss." She said, a bit chastising as she stepped away to look over the forms. Eddie sighed, wishing he knew the way to prevent these odd outbursts. "Sorry, she has a thing about germs. Please don't kiss her." Eddie tried to help, though it probably just made the situation weirder for poor Bieito. "....Noted."

Iana was still quite unsure why her siblings were so keen on pushing her into clubs. Sure, her parents (and grandparents, aunts and uncles... everyone) had said she should join them to make friends, but Iana was still uncertain about everything in this school. It was huge and wild and loud! Today was all about the news team, which Eddie had been part of since his first year, and one Iana was actually a little excited for. She'd grown up watching family members work together to report all sorts of things, so why shouldn't she do the same?
Once they were in the club, Iana had looked at the leader curiously, especially after he'd rescinded his offer for a handshake. Now it was on to looking through the applications. There were a few roles she could practice for. She looked over when Eddie walked over, a macaron in hand. "Do you want one? Bieito is a good cook." Iana quickly shook her head, though she did frown. She really did want to try one, but what if they made her sick?! After all, she'd only known this guy for a few seconds! "They are safe, I promise. If I had any worries, I would not eat one either." He said, giving her his usual "big brother" look. With a small sigh, Iana carefully reached over to take one of the pink cookies.
At least that seemed to make the captain smile. She nibbled it, then finished it happily. It was raspberry lemon! What a lovely flavor! She then coated her hands in sanitizer pulled from her pocket before filling out two forms. She'd try photography and writing, and perhaps one would stick!

(ã¥ï¿£ ³ ̄)㥠Rosa felt weird going to her first newspaper meeting without Sierra already being there since she'd literally always been there! However, it wouldn't be fair to just drop the club just because she wasn't there anymore; not only did she enjoy writing but it would feel scummy doing that to Bieito. So she got her usual journal and supplies together as well as her sketchbook since she decided to also try her hand at the art section for a change as well. Mostly as a shake up since she could feel a dry spell heading her way and those always suckkeeed.
When she walked into the club room, she immediately spotted Bieito and gave him a jaunty way as she went over to fill out her forms. As she was doing so, Rosa found herself doing a double take as she actually took in Eddie's whole...look. Granted she saw him at the welcome feast, she'd even said hullo and everything all congenially, but this was somehow different. (Plus now that she was staring at him she's like 40ish to 55 percent certain she'd seen him around in the common room sans glasses.) "Huh. You look a bit different Eddie. While Eddie was waiting on Iana to fill out her paperwork, he stepped to the side to adjust his camera. Since it was a club meeting, even for their own club, pictures would need to be taken. It wasn't like he hadn't done it before, anyway. He would take some nice pictures, usually managing to avoid being in someone else's shutter, then they'd get published on the club page. He glanced up when Rosa joined in, waving to Bieito. "Hey Rosa! Come on in! I've got macarons!"
While cleaning his primary lens, Eddie was a bit startled to hear himself being spoken to. He looked over at Rosa, who said he looked different. Apparently it was akin to Clark Kent? "I got a haircut just before coming to school, and yes, my mother convinced me to try out contacts sometimes. Apparently she thought my blue eyes were something worthy of not being behind glass?" He offered a small chuckle, having originally quipped back that all the things in museums were behind glass... but the argument hadn't worked well. "Hopefully I do not look too different! I would not want people getting confused," he said with a grin. It was not like many others looked exactly like him, after all.
Carter paused in front of another club door, her palms less sweaty this time, as she had already joined one other club. This time, she could actually smile and take more of an easy enjoyment in life. Of course, this was one of the two clubs that she felt like she had to join. While her father was a professional journalist who wrote Freelance articles for all of the major papers, she wasn't as gifted with words. Not by a long shot. Granted, she knew that in order to make him proud, especially when he was the parent she actually saw on occasion, this was where she needed to make her mark.
However, Carter had no artistic talent outside of restoring old antiques, and the only reason she joined the Art club was to try and work on restoring the varnish on a lot of the paintings around the school to get ready for her future career. However, joining this club, she decided, was going to be for fun. So, this time when she walked into the room, it wasn't with some rehearsed speech or idea in her head. Rather, she decided to be proud of exactly what she could do and her talents, hoping that her father's way with words would magically appear on the page for her like it did for him.
Carter walked into the room, smiling at yet another club that had cookies. The art club had been the same way, but this time it looks like these are macarons. She smiled as she grabbed one of the applications. She only wanted to work on writing articles, so it was quick to fill out before she turned to say hi to Iana, the only other first-year student in the room.

After she was done and the application was placed where it needed to go, she smiled and walked over to the other first-year student. Once again, this first year wasn't from Gryffindor, but Carter was sure that they could be friends. "I like your purple shirt! You're Iana, right? It's really nice to meet you." She smiled brightly and hoped that maybe she would find a friend today.

Iana looked over when one of the other kids walked in, then commented on Eddie. He had grown a fair bit over the summer, plus he occasionally wore contacts now. Pair that with the newspaper work... yea, Clark Kent kinda made sense. Of course, Eddie seemed confused, but he'd always been a bit awkward about conversations. While he was talking with the older girl, Iana debated on trying another macaron. It was weird that it something was overriding her nerves about germs. Maybe it was because her brother trusted the guy who made them?
Thankfully, her attention was distracted when someone else walked in. It was another first year, named Charlotte, she was pretty sure. "Hey, welcome in! Grab a macaron if you'd like, and join the fun." Said the captain, who seemed pretty nice. And if Eddie trusted him, well, maybe she could too. Especially since he also had a head student pin. Charlotte spoke up, so Iana turned to face her, still holding her camera tight. "Yes, Iana. And you're Charlotte, right? That's my sister's name too. Well, my older sister. My younger sister is Linnie. And that's my brother, Eddie." She pointed at him, and Eddie offered a small wave. "Which segment are you going for? Seb was ready for Daily Dragon to start up again. Sure, leadership had changed, but since he didn't work in writing, the lead editor shouldn't change too much. Besides, Bee was a super nice person! As Seb walked in with his camera in hand, he noticed a few others standing around. Eddie and Rosa were talking, as were two of the first years. "Bonjour, Seb! Welcome in. Have a macaron. Oh wow, that was a lot. Seb grabbed one of the chocolate macarons, offering a smile. "Oh, yes please. Photography again, unless you know how to fix dyslexia." Seb giggled, earning a chuckle from Bee as well. "Well, if you want to work on writing, I've got a quick-quotes quill you can use? It'll jot down what you say, then we can edit together from there?" Wait.... what?
Seb looked over at the captain, who offered a smile. "Really? I can give it a try. I've always thought doing the writing part seemed fun, but out of reach." Meallan was a bit conflicted about this year's forray into Daily Dragon. He'd always had Sierra in the group, but she'd graduated last year along with Lewis. She had been one of Mea's favorite "safe" people, since she also had hearing aids. It was always really nice to find other people that understood his struggles. Thankfully, since Aina had joined in school, he wasn't alone. And besides, he still had lots of family that could help. His sister and cousin were both in his year, so he'd be safe with them the whole time.
As he walked into the news studio, he was fiddling with the volume on his ears. For some reason, one side was coming in a bit louder than the other, causing an echo effect. While it was annoying, he wasn't exactly keen to ask the healers to call home. He had way too much work to take time out to visit the audiologist. Besides, he knew those visits were expensive, especially on emergency visits.
He filled out his form, then went to plop down by one of the typewriters. He worked on his form, deciding to continue his writing career while also learning editing. Maybe he could write Sierra for some pointers? She'd been in charge for years now! Surely she'd have some good ideas.

Carter couldn't help but smile when Iana answered back. There was something about going to these clubs that helped bring the girl out of her shell. The more Carter went, the more she loved going to Hogwarts. At home, she was quiet and always with her grandparents, but she was learning how to interact with her peers and help build a better school. Carter was grateful, mainly because all of the first years she had met had been nice, thus far at least.
However, when Iana called her Charlotte and spoke of her family, she was envious. Carter had a harder time transitioning to Hogwarts because she was not used to all the noise around her. Nothing could have prepared her for that. Finding out Iana had multiple siblings must mean she was fully used to the noise and chaos around her. Carter would need to ask her for advice on how to get used to it.
"I go by Carter, actually," Carter said to Iana, a smile still plastering her face, even when her thoughts drifted to thoughts of home. "Do you just have the two siblings? I'm an only child, so living in the dorms has been hard for me."
However, Carter quickly laughed it off, a smile still on her face. "I'm doing my best, and I'm going to try to write a history column. My papa runs an antique store, and I love finding out about the new stuff that comes in. I would love to write about it!" She paused, thinking about doing photography before she turned up her nose. "I don't think I could ever work with a camera. It seems like so much work, and you have to develop the photos. I would rather write!"
The more Carter talked, the more she realized that Iana was starting to become friend-shaped. Iana was not quite someone she could call close to her, but someone she could see being close with in the future. It was fun to realize that Hogwarts was a place of friendship.

Holding her camera close, Iana figured it was a good time to try to make a friend. Well, Eddie was sending her some rather awkward encouraging looks anyway. So for now, Iana would try to be social. At least Charlotte wasn't asking for hand shakes... When trying to confirm her name, she said her preferred name was Carter, and Iana nodded. "Carter, got it." Lots of Charlottes had nicknames... at least according to Charlotte, but who better would know?
When she asked about Iana's siblings, the blonde snorted. "Try doubling it. I'm the middle of five. We've got a younger sister and brother at home. Linnie, then Connor, well... we call him Ceth, 'cause it's actually Connor Seth, and my uncle's name is Connor too." They had to keep them distinguished, of course. Otherwise it'd just be impossible. Other than that one was able to see somewhat.... and also was five.
As the Gryffindor dove into saying she wanted to work in history, Iana nodded along. History wasn't her strongest suit, but the class had been interesting so far. As she mentioned photography, Carter literally turned up her nose, causing the Ravenclaw to frown. "I don't know. Seems to me like writing, then typing up, then editing and formatting would be more annoying. Besides, most of my family do photography. My grandparents, my dad, Eddie, and me too. But my Uncle Connor writes for the Daily Prophet, though I think part of that is 'cause he's blind and none of his photos turn out." She giggled at that, rocking on her feet. Maybe she and Carter could work together? As dad liked to say "every photographer worth his salt has a writer whom they trust to share the stories".
