User Image Prime numbers were numbers that couldn't be divided by more than itself and one. So...that meant that no even numbers were allowed. Lets see, there was 1, 2, 3, 5, 7,11, 13...199, 211. Julie looked down at her scratch paper, all filled in with division symbols and numbers. She didn't have any room left on her paper. This was a lot harder than it looked. The first sever numbers were super easy, but after that you had to search for numbers. She'd erased a ton of numbers that didn't belong as a prime number. Well, she was done, there was no more room left on her scratch paper, so 211 is how far she could count prime numbers.

Let's see. 1, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 21, 23, 25, 27, 29, 31. Thirty-one! This was super easy! It wasn't until the teacher came around to correct her, that she realized she'd added non-prime numbers and skipped an even number. Evie squinted at her teacher suspiciously, wondering if they were pulling her wing. Apparently not, guess prime numbers were not as easy as she originally thought.

Yaara subdued a groan at the task given. Rattle off prime numbers? Joy of joys. She’d still do it of course, but it felt like pulling teeth. No evens, other than two, and numbers that could only be divided by itself and one. She took her time, double checking as she went. 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23...and on and on when her calculating, until she was running out of space even in the margins. 269, 277, 281, 293. Welp, paper space ran out before she could breach into the three hundreds, but two ninety three was close enough. Since she had a little time before the end of class, she double checked a few of the numbers she felt iffy on, but turned her work in without too much more fussing than that.

As Aisling and her teachers had discovered, her ability to memorize things well, stemmed only from what she liked. So, she could recite her Pumpka familiar's (Pooka's) dietary needs easily and she could list all the different species of familiars, but when it came to things she didn't like as much, like math, she had a trickier time of it.

"Prime numbers?" She looked up at her teacher, Cesian, with three round eyes. What made a prime number again? Biting on her lower lip, she tried to remember and looked over at the other Freshlings in the class. Overhearing one of them, she mumbled. "T-Two..." Then she stumbled off and shuffled her feet. Prime numbers were so strange... No, not strange, odd! Her eyes brightened. "Three, five, seven, ni-no, not nine, um... eleven, thirteen..." Her third eye closed in concentration. "Seventeen, nineteen... Twenty-three... Um... That's it." She sighed and her eyes all opened to look sheepishly at her teacher.

"I'll study more next time." She mumbled and covered her eyes with her hands until they moved onto the next student. Why, oh why couldn't they have asked her about her dear Pooka instead?

User ImageTalia hadn't been too interested in just counting prime numbers. If one needed to find them, they could either look them up, or they could use a calculator... besides, why did they need to count prime numbers as high as possible? Even for a scatter-brain like her, she wondered why they were doing such a... assignment. Or at least the older kids. She understood about it being a good activity for the freshlings, but for Juniors and Seniors it just seemed... unnecessary?

But it was a way to drag the class out, and she would use as much of that time as possible to drag out her answers, hopefully meaning she wouldn't have to do any more work for the rest of the class. And so she started to write. "2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13..." She continued on, until soon enough, she passed out. Either too bored or too tired to continued, but at least she did some of it!

Vanhi frowned and pulled out a spare sheet of paper. Math wasn’t her best subject but she was going to try. Besides she wasn’t afraid to ask for help from an older sibling when she got home. So she started listing the ones she knew which got her to about elven.
“ 2, 3, 5, 7, 11 ..... 83, 89, 97” she counted out. The rest had taken a bit of work on her price of paper, knowing what she did about multiplication she was able to knock out some away. However she wasn’t so good with three digit numbers and stopped around 97. It was a good effort and she would ask her dad to help her more when she got home.

Huginn frowned, sure prime numbers could be a bit of a challenge but wasn’t that something you tended to do when you were in your freshman years. Prime numbers could go on indefinitely if you had the calculator or the amount of paper and time.
So he wrote out: ‘3, 5, 7, 11, 13... 241, 251, 257.....563.’
There that should be enough. Actually the assignment kind of reminded him of vali, when vali said they were struggling.

Given how the rest of the day was going, oiche was expecting a rather hard lesson for math. However she was surprised to see today’s assignment was counting numbers? Well they were prime numbers but all the same it was something more freshling level. Still she wasn’t going to look a gift horse in the mouth.

‘ I can count up to 113 in my head. 2,3,5,9, 11, 13, 17...71,73,79....107, 109, aaand 113’ she could found out higher numbers but so could any one else with a calculator and enough spare pieces of paper. So 113 would be good enough today.

Oran sighed and wondered if the universe hated her today, she wasn’t the best in math however she knew that one needed it for some types of magic so she tried to work really hard when it came to studying. Thus she got most subjects prett well but prime numbers... well after a certain number she started struggling with them. Still she was going to try her best after all she was a senior now.

‘2, 3, 5.... 127, 131, 137....139, 14... no 149” she was going to stop here mostly because she was running out of paper on her spare sheet. This should be enough. The teacher didn’t really expect them to get to in the 500’s for a speaking exercise right?

Jane furrowed her brow, deep in thought. List all the prime numbers that she could think of....a difficult task for some. But for Jane, numbers came somewhat naturally. She liked counting. Liked multiplication, division, subtraction, addition...numbers just came easy to her. Doing the work? Not so much. Class activities were an obligation to do though. She rocked on her heels in class, eyes moving towards the ceiling. "2, 3, 5 7, 13, 17, 23, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 67, 71, 79, 89, 103, 109, 113, 127, 151, 163, 167, 179, 283." she said with finality, nodding to herself. Sure, there were more but....she had already reached her normal 'speaking' limit for today. That was good enough.

Listing prime numbers? Boring. Ezekiel resisted the urge to spit on the ground, his geist tendrils flaring in agitation. They could have been doing anything else. Like, actually learning a new fact or practicing problems. But no they were talking about numbers that no one could do anything with. What was the good in that? What was the point of prime numbers? The hybrid tsked and glowered at the teacher before gritting out "2, 3, 5, 7, 11 13, 17,19, 23" and sat back down at his desk with a flop. That should be good enough to get half credit. Whatever he could do in order to just pass the class.

Liv primed herself up at the front, clasping her hands together. She was prepared for this. Had memorized all that she could for this assignment. She couldn't understand others who were only listing a few. This homework was so easy! Recite a few well known numbers and sit back down. It wasn't like they were having to do a huge speech on the theory. Ah well. Their pitiful attempts were going to make her attempts that much better. The slaugh smirked before opening her mouth to speak. "2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, 97, 101". Simple. Easy. A piece of cake.

She had memorized more than she had thought, when studying alone in her room, before someone to study with came along. She took a deep breath, and spoke. "2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37, 41, 43, 47, 53, 59, 61, 67, 71, 73, 79, 83, 89, 97, 101, 103, 107, 109, 113. I... Yes. I can not remember anymore, Professor." She said, her voice just loud enough to hear, and her eyes downcast at her desk. Without Sathe next to her, she remained nervous about drawing too much attention to herself, and she feared that appearing to know more numbers than others might... be doing that.
