The water was colder than the pool they'd come out of.
"No, they lead to the..." another pause, "...contemporaries of Atlantis. The city lays beyond this chamber."

Kim wanted to slide into the water. She peered down, hoping that she could see something. Leaning closer and closer, though her hand was a bit cold it didn't bother her. She put her re-breather in her mouth and poked her head through the pool to see if there was anything.
Please don't cut my head off...
She held tight to the solid ground so that she could pull her head out fast.
Other worlds... so awesome..

"You are very informative. May I ask how we can get access to the city from here?" He said, crossing his arms and uncrossing them to appear as calm and collective as he could while still inwardly screaming that he was going to see Atlantis.
As his eyes went out, he froze as he saw Kim. "Kim, please be careful. You don't know what is in each pool."
"And....another thing. Are you saying there are sister cities to Atlantis accessible through these pools?"

The pool was much the same as the one they exited from. A ways down, if her vision was particularly acute, Kim would see another set of double doors.
"Yes, the place you came from is..." another, longer pause, and again, the doubled words, Avalon and Deus spoken in tandem. "It is well that it continues on. I will lead you into the city, if you party is now ready?"

Kim stared at the door, then pulled her head back, tossing the wet tail over her shoulders. "Dang! It's another set of doors. I want to look but..." She sighed. "Melvin, is there a safe way for me to look? Like a tether rope?" She soooo wanted to look around.. Part of her was dancing in place, her eyes wide and hopeful.
Silent thought: Please oh please oh please..... "I will only open it and look in, I wont pass through."

"We would need to go in as a group as we don't know if there are security measures out there. Also, our oxygen tanks are low and the Eel might have created some damage to our equipment. I wouldn't feel safe for even one person to start going into pools. You could find yourself in a place that you couldn't find a decent amount of oxygen or even be picked up by our sensors. For now, come explore the main city with us. I want to explore the rest just as much as you do. We can make plans for those areas later. Promise." He said and turned back to their guide.
"We are as read as we will ever be."
"Everyone, please take off your helmets for now as to not deplete what little oxygen you might still have left in your tanks. You will need it for our dive back to Deus." Or Avalon apparently.
Melvin picked up his helmet and gestured for their guide to take them.

Noah had stayed quiet, listening with fascination as the golden mergolem spoke. He'd known that Deus was Avalon, but that it had a connection to Atlantis was totally new and fascinating information.
When Kim asked about the doors, he added, "What if there's another eel outside the other doors? I'm not sure we can fight another one." While it was a genuine concern, he also didn't want to go back through the pools yet. He wanted to explore Atlantis.

New things didn't really thrill Rep any longer, he'd seen the sort of things that would blow normal people's minds and lived more than a few lifetimes, the word jaded didn't really do it justice. Even now as they were led through the entrance to the lost city of Atlantis he was nothing but annoyed at the inconvenience of it all. He'd been hoping it'd be something they could be over and done with in no time, but instead of a quick murder of the guardian of the mermaids they'd found something a hell of a lot more dangerous.
The way he tossed down his flippers was positively sulky as he took off the helmet and tossed free his hair. "******** all of this s**t. You are all ******** morons for a start, look at dipshit touching the fish right off the bat and Melvin grinning like he's gotten lead role in the little mermaid. This s**t is doomed.
His artifact earring glowed brighter underwater but seemed slightly muted here. "This place fell for some ******** reason, don't forget that, same as ******** Avalon up there."
He scowled at the mermaid guide. "What the ******** happened here?"

Helpful Guiding Servant Created by Thirdmost Master Smith, Jin Gerret S'onac began to glide toward a wall. As the hunters approached, pieces of it lit up until the door became unmistakable. "The details can be found within the city library. If you would like a brief summary, though, I will supply you with this understanding: over time, Travelers began to rarely appear and then ceased to arrive from the Ways entirely. The youth of the city left. Those who remained died of old age and the physical flaws created by a limited breeding pool. The city had been created to preserve a culture, above and apart. It succeeded. The last of its people died..." There's a pause as Babel swims through the air around the party and then back. The doors opened to a city of pristine white streets and buildings, gold bits glinting in the shafts of sunlight slanting through the jewel blue waters above. The buildings, while not towering, were none the less impressive, incorporating skillfully sculpted figures with precise patterning that verged on what the modern world considered art deco. It was, in its way, the Atlantis of dreams and imagination, the seed from which movies and art and stories about it grew from. As they walked, gentle blue green glow followed and then faded as they moved away. They were on a large boulevard, at the end of it was something very like a palace. "...9,102 years ago, of tooth infection." Most of the statuary was humanoid.

Around her was a world of wonders, beauty and.. possible riches and she had been told to keep her hands to herself. Kim was twitching. She wanted to look closer at things. She wanted to see if there was anything here worth, um, borrowing? Yeah just to check it out, you know look closer.
Kim.... don't go there. But Chinthliss..
Ergh... be a good little girl Kim, stop endangering all of us Kim..
>.<
She muttered and followed behind the others, still eyeing things they walked past. Maybe there would be something she could use to make a plushie to throw at Terry's head later.. that could be fun. Just an animal statue she could... borrow.. discreetly.

Melvin felt more of a tourist than he had in his entire life. Not even on leave going to Paris and London for the first time did he have this level of awe and wonder grip him than here and now, and he could feel his neck straining as his vision went up and up and up to skyscraper towers of honey-bright gold and glimmer glass fracturing light across intricately constructed walls. Walkways and bridges were lined with spiraling designs. Despite a prominence of gold, it did not strain his vision and somehow the various hues melted into a warm sunlight that sat like spires of sunlight shooting up into a rippling, blue sky.
It was fascinating that the air was still crisp and he was glad to some degree the residents who had died had at least died so long ago as to not corrupt the air. It was somewhat saddening that they couldn't speak with the residents, however, their guide and what would be found in the library was a blessing in itself.
"Miss....Uh.... Sorry. You're name is extremely long. Did your creators give you a shorter name or would it be strange if I gave you a shortened one to use for ease?"
"You were created by Master Smith was it? Are there more of your kind here or was there similar technology created here?"
Melvin looked over at Rep.
"It's a discovery that could give us information we can use. Don't shoot it down so quickly, please?"

Don't let the blank expression on Terry's face fool you into thinking he's not amazed or impressed. Watching something like this through a screen couldn't hold a candle to seeing it in person. But Terry was still Terry and his own genuine enthusiasm and excitement manifested in a somewhat (in his opinion) important question "How was breathable air created once this city fell beneath the waves? And is there a way to refill out tanks with it?" Because what good is it to find this place and not be able to reach Deus because they ran out of air?
He did, however, make note to try and hold onto Kim's hand. Partly to stop her from grabbing things she shouldn't be grabbing, and partly to still the giddy shaking of his own hands.
-----
Once the initial awe of discover wore off, Joy's own question involved "Are there any other sekyus in this place? Ah, kwan I mean security guards, like the eel or ewan a fighty-type like you Miss..." if Melvin couldn't manage to remember the robot-thing's full name, Joy was even less likely.

Whoa... wait a minute. Atlantis? The Atlantis? Really?
It was an overwhelmingly lot of amazing information that they had stumbled upon here and as much as Kyle feared for their safety and ability to return to Deus, there was at the same time a part of him that wanted to find out more about what laid ahead. Stepping through the door and into the city that looked like one of those made to scale sets from the Hollywood movies, he stared in awe at the grandiosity of the buildings and sculpted figures that were before them.
"These statues... who were they?"

Kim would find the boulevard much too clean and all the statuary much too large to sneak a souvenir. Maybe inside a building would prove more promising.
The metal mermaid tried to give Melvin a nickname, but unfortunately Babel wasn't able to turn the words into a suitable English version, so instead what came out was, "Beep Boop Telegram." A pause and then, "Perhaps you should provide a sufficiently succinct name. There are others like myself, but there is not enough energy to keep them powered. My functions and that of Babel are currently active due to the energy you provided upon entrance."
Terry's answer was a solemn negative, "That is not a function I am capable of. There are three main air supplies: recycling, drawing from the surface, and the Garden. The city cycles through all three."
There was a long pause at Joy's question. "I am sorry, Traveler, but detailing security measures to you is not part of my protocol. This is by intention."
They neared a large park, about halfway to the palace. Beautiful fountains and and very still, clear pool decorate the lush green grass, there's large steps that likely doubled as seating, a small stage at their base.
"The statues are those of Atlantis' greatest minds and talents."
