- There were three clubs that Carter had decided to do in her first year of Hogwarts, and the one she was more excited for was Art club. Her favorite thing to do with Papa was helping him restore all of the old antiques that they had found together for the family store. So, when she walked into the castle and saw all the old varnish on the paintings, she got a mental ick that just wouldn't go away, no matter how much she had tried to sleep that night.
Carter always wanted to work in antiques, only adding herself to the Daily Dragon Roster and Literary Club to appease Nana, so this was the club for her. She stood outside with her head held high, waiting for her few nerves to calm as she went over her speech to introduce herself.
'Hi! My name is Carter, and I want to be... Hi, my name is Carter, and I want to...'
When she finally felt ready, she walked in. While Carter noticed she wasn't the first one here, but rather one of many people in the room, she also didn't recognize anyone. It wasn't exactly a new feeling, as she grew up in the Muggle world with her Papa, a Muggle, as her best friend. Still, her confidence waned for just a second.
However, the cookie table had a ton of delicious snacks and there were pillows all around the room that looked comfy to sit on. If she actually sketched or did art that could be done in one of them, they would have been a very nice addition to the room.
She did see a few first years; she remembered them from the sorting ceremony, but didn't see any fellow Gryffindors. She walked up to the cookie table and got ready to introduce herself to the group, a smile on her face as she tried to let her anxiety go. At least this didn't involve answering riddles, or it better not.
"Hi, I'm Carter. I want to go into antique restoration. I enjoy removing the old varnish from oil paintings and applying new varnish. I noticed a lot of the paintings in the castle need restoration, and I wanted to prove myself worthy of doing it myself! So, I'm here to practice my skills." Her words, while practiced, came out slightly rushed, and she laughed it off as she let out the breath she was holding. She was grateful it was over, but it had been hard to manage all the same.
However, before anyone could ask any questions, she darted for one of the peanut butter-smelling cookies to keep her mind and hands on something other than the nervous babbling about her life story that was ready to spill. Nobody needed to know that her Papa was a Muggle antique dealer, or at least not yet.
