Sasori was a bit nervous when it came time for them to speak. They pulled out their chair and nibbled on their nails, a bad habit she had picked up a couple years before. "My favorite prime number is 7. I'm not really sure why, it's just a really nice number.. and simple." They knew it wasn't the best answer, though They weren't exactly asked why it was their favorite, but it seemed as though they should say, even though the answer wasn't all that great.

This teacher seemed a whole lot less sure of things than Sorbet would have liked. Kirket might have thrown him for a loop with the surprise! paper assignment, but at least the Imp had been...sure of things? Confident? Reassuring in a way that Orlomb was most definitively not.
Cats could sense things things.
So the bright-eyed Bakaneko observed. He studied. Just..not math as much as he should have. Even so, when Teacher asked that they go around the room speaking out about their favorite prime number, he could answer. If only people would stop using one of his favorites!
In the interest of being able to use one of his two favorites - and unwilling to use the same one that the dark skinned hybrid Freshling [Sasori] had used - Sorbet piped up quickly. "My favorite prime number is three, because it's the number of my birth month and how many of us there are. My family, I mean."
The Bakaneko puffed out his little chest and beamed at Judas self-assuredly - he wasn't worried he'd not given a good answer, no. He knew that he had, and the happy swish of his tails were a huge indication of this.

Pyxi smiled, shifting in their seat with a smile. They enjoyed math, so this was a really fun question. "My favorite prime number is three. It's a really special number for me because I have three parents and I'm one of three siblings." That was a good reason, right? "Oh, it's also my favorite number in general." They really hoped that the teacher liked their answer!

Taffy smiled wide as she leaned forward in her seat, hands propping up her chin. "I like the number one. It's prime and it's number one!" She always felt like she had to be number one, so she felt a good connection with the number. She didn't want to say how she felt like she had to be number one... it might make her parents look bad and she didn't want that.

"I like two different prime numbers. I like three because that's how many of us my momma adopted and I like two because that's how many siblings I have." The little neko smiled as she gave her answer, "My family is really special to me, so those two numbers are special to me." If the teacher didn't like her answer, they were going to have some issues.

Moka smiled at her sister's answer, surprised that Annabelle had said something like that. It wasn't really like her. But then she noticed that it was her turn, "Oh, ah, I like three, because there's three others in my family. It's not my favorite number though." She honestly liked four better, if only because that's her family.

Clove had thought long and hard, on his answer, he looked at all the prime numbers, looking at them carefully and seeing which one he like for shape, and then he thought on which one would be more like him. when it was his turn, he got really nervous, because he was unsure if he really liked the number, clove called it out anyway he didn't want to hold up the class. "my favorite prime number is eleven, because it's double the one"

Maerad was always excited to talk about her favorite things, but this was a hard question. Their favorite prime number? She wasn't even sure she knew all the prime numbers! She thought about it, counted on her fingers, then grinned. "My favorite prime number is 47, because that's how many strings are on a harp!" Any opportunity to bring her favorite instrument into class was a good opportunity.

Another class, another paper to write. Sometimes he hated being mute. 'I'm not the best person to ask, since I like math, but I understand that sometimes equations and lots of numbers can be really intimidating.I feel that the best way to put some fears to rest could be to make fun assignments for the students based on age grade levels. Like Freshlings could do more fun activities to learn simpler math, and maybe even a few harder problems if they show a positive reaction to the exercise and the result is correct answers. Or for Seniors who seem to be the ones that dread math the most, maybe working one on one with someone whose struggling could help them learn better or giving lessons using a relateable situation could help them better understand rather than be afraid of doing the math. It would just help to make math fun!' Shinobu looked around the classroom, wondering what everyone else was writing about, but he went back to his own paper to finish up before he turned it in.

Jeanette counted down the list of numbers, then picked her favorite. The idea of a favorite number was kind of silly to her, but she enjoyed these lessons. They were like games, nice and simple. "I like five!" she said, holding up her hand with all her fingers extended. "It's the easiest number to count!" To elaborate, she began to count in 5's.

The chimera definitely did not have a problem sharing; he in fact reveled in being able to express his opinions with his fellow classmates. And he loved hearing their answers - it was always so diverse. Puffing his chest out proudly as he came to be his turn, he stood up so he could be heard. Taking a deep breath, Florian smiled and wriggled his small wings. Gathering his confidence, he proudly said, "My favorite prime number is two! Because it's the only prime number that is even! Isn't that really super cool? It's like its own special case," he said, his eyes twinkling as he jabbered on about the number two. He appeared to have lost the interest of many of his classmates, but he didn't notice - he was having his own fun.

Brynn rolled her eyes extravagantly at the assignment. Fears of math? Really? What was this supposed to accomplish? The hybrid often sweet-talked her way through as many assignments as she could, but she enjoyed geometry at the very least. She tapped her hoof impatiently while staring at her blank paper before starting to scribble on it with her pencil.
Reasons why I don't like math:
Sometimes the amount of numbers on the page, frankly, is overwhelming. Long algebraic equations are confusing and I often get lost. Advanced and theoretical mathematics are not directly applicable to my career path. I wish we were able to use a calculator more frequently. I know university students are allowed to use one, especially graphing calculators.
She paused. The next part of the question was equally ridiculous, and she couldn't help but feel this was the teacher's way of getting teaching advice from the students. She tapped her eraser on her lips for a moment, then continued writing.
How to help me:
Break things down more easily and slowly. If I can wait long enough to take notes, that's good so I have something to refer to. Let us use calculators more!!! Have us do math instead of writing these papers.
She looked at it dubiously, and wondered if she'd get points off for being sassy. The hybrid shrugged, then stood to go turn it in.

Niamh sighed softly and sat down at her desk. Maths... She really didn't like them at all, and the idea of having to take the class made her go UGH in her head. However, she knew she had to do it, so she studied her assignment with a quiet, thoughtful expression. After a long minute, where she fiddled with her braid, she finally started writing.
"I don't really like math, or numbers, generally speaking. But if I had to pick a prime number I like best, it would be... two. Because One is a lonely number, and three is nice, but two together are a comfortable, happy thing!"

Thoth pondered 'Prime numbers'. A number that could only be divided by 1 or itself...
8?
You dolt, 8 can be divided by 2... And 4, come to think of it. That's not a Prime number!
"Uhhhh..." Thoth faltered, counting through numbers in their head, trying to figure out which numbers counted as prime numbers...
Was 11 a Prime number?
Yes, eleven is a prime number. Honestly. the voice muttered grumpily in their ear.
"I like Eleven," Thoth piped up at last. And they did like eleven; it was like two figures close together.
* * * Hawthorn pondered the question carefully, considering the Prime Numbers he knew. There were a great many even between 0 and 1000. How did the teacher intend them to select just one? There could not possibly be only one correct answer, under these conditions. He was loathe to voice an incorrect answer, especially in front of all of his classmates and the teacher.
Carefully, in a measured and velvet voice, he asked, "Are there grounds for us to pick a favourite? By all rights, the only defining factor that makes them unique is that they are Prime Numbers. This should imply that they are equal, with exception of their increasing numerical value." Hawthorn's reply, though verbose, came measured and steady. He wanted to be sure he understood the purpose of the question before simply selecting an arbitrary number. The fact that they were asked specifically for a Prime Number, rather than just any number, implied some heightened significance on their status as primes.
"If we are purely to select a favourite number, with the only qualifier that it must be a Prime... Then... three-hundred-and-eighty-three. It you were to mirror image either of the threes, it would split perfectly down the centre of the eight as a numerical palindrome." He nodded as he finished, feeling that with the extent of parameters he provided, that even if he had answered incorrectly to the teacher's intents, he had at least demonstrated his thought process and method of selection. That ought--at least-- to be worth partial points.

After hearing what the question was, Jacintha did some calculating to see it her favorite number was also a prime number. Turns out it was! Her favorite number really was prime! Maybe it wasn't such an unlucky number after all and everyone was just superstitious "Thirteen! Everyone thinks it is an unlucky number, but I think it is special! Besides that it is my favorite number of all time!"
