As Calvin looked over his team quickly, he began to notice the recurring theme that he somehow didn't notice before...the amount of dragons in his party. How he didn't notice before that moment astounded him. And while he still shook his head about his apparent oversight, he knew that he would have to address it at some point. And unfortunately, he felt that he was going to have to send Maverick to the box at some point because of his entire times, besides Marcella's weakness to ice type Pokémon. Were he to fight an ice type, he would have a problem. And what felt like the worst part, his Pokémon weaknesses against fairy type Pokémon. He needed to address it soon.
His mind drifted to a bit to scheme what he wanted to do. He could've taught Maverick Steel wing to give it some type coverage, but if he did the same with Salamence it would have the same affect. Calvin was always one that believed love among his Pokémon would surpass any type weakness, but having four dragons really made him think whether it would be a mistake. Of course, now that he thought of it, he'd never send Maverick to the box. In fact, he'd most likely use it to transfer letters to his mother and back. And instruct him to stay in Fortree with her to give her company. So...what Pokémon could possibly fill a role. He needed a Pokémon to cover that fairy weakness that was so blaring. One that could learn a steel type move that wasn't weak against a fairy or an ice type. But what Pokémon could fit such a role bewildered him. But, he knew he'd use Maverick to ensure a strong flying type for the second gym.

Calvin sat there in his own thoughts for quite some time, his Pokémon off nearby doing their own thing. Ryujin was meditating right next to him however, whom had somehow gone unnoticed while Calvin lost himself in thought. Calvin assumed that Ryujin had heard his thoughts and probably was formulating his own opinion on his thoughts. "So what do you think Ryujin?" he asked his Pokémon, taking a moment to close his eyes and begin his own sort of meditation. It didn't take a long for the Pokémon to answer through it's telepathic capabilities.
"I believe that your thoughts are well-placed. While no one is a weak link, we all have problems against ice and fairy types other than Marcella. It could prove to be a problem in the future against stronger trainers. But the question is to whom would we have to give up to make room?" the Pokémon asked, speaking as if this was as much his party as it was Calvin's. It truly amused him. It was the main reason why he could never get rid of him.
"I was thinking Maverick when the time comes. Instead of sending him to the box, I'll send him back to stay with my mother. She would be happy to have him and we'll get to see him every time we visit fortree," Calvin responded through thought, hoping that the Pokémon would except that role. Maverick would always be important to him. He remembered treating the Pokémon endlessly during its week long comatose. It felt like so long ago, but it was actually only but a month or so ago.
"That seems to be for the best. Maverick is a great team member and surely will be disappointed, but he feels so indebted to you that he'd never hate you for it. I got that much out of the brief conversation I had with it," Ryujin said, going back to his meditation. Calvin did the same, channeling his inner energy.
Calvin only opened his eyes when he heard a rustling coming from the trees...a very aggressive wurmple coming out to try and fight Victoria, whom probably found a nest.

He was delighted to see that Lupup had been victorious in her bout with the Wurmple, the Pokémon jumping up and down in triumph. Calvin was mostly happy that she was gaining confidence in herself, which was great. Ryujin even pointed it out to him that she was getting much stronger and was slowly catching up to the rest of the party in terms of fighting ability. Calvin could only nod as he continued his meditation session to pass the time for the time being. The time passed by slowly, each second becoming slower and slower as he took in each breath.

Time had passed extremely quickly while he continued to meditate. He hadn't realized it, but when he opened up his eyes, the sun was starting to recede behind the horizon, which made Calvin sigh because that meant that he missed the ferry that was heading for Dewford. He couldn't believe it, but when he looked over to ask why Ryujin didn't tell him why exactly he didn't say anything about the time, the Pokémon was still meditating as well. Calvin shook the Pokémon's shoulder, to which he opened his eyes instantly, surprised to see the time had passed as well. "Time flies when you are thinking of nothing: huh?" he said to Ryujin with a bit of a chuckle. The Pokémon himself shared a laugh before getting up from the stump in which they were perched upon. He joined Victoria to sit around and talk amongst themselves, while Marcella instantly jumped up on his shoulder and pecked playfully at his head.
"Are you doing alright Marcella?" he said, taking the Pokémon off of his shoulder and holding her in his hands. The Pokémon nodded in response and hopped down instantly, choosing to stay close to her trainer.

He felt his stomach grumbling and not only that, all of his Pokémon had gone running up to his legs, looking hungry. He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment, taking a moment to chuckle at his Pokémon's actions. "You guys are spoiled. I hope you know that," he said jokingly, petting each of their heads before he went to set up his cooking gear. "I'll get your dinner done soon alright?" He made sure to assure them with the utmost sincerity. He didn't want his Pokémon to starve, but he also knew he was starting to run low on the food and he would have to go to a food mart in Petalburg to get some more. He would use what he had and at daybreak of the next day he would travel to go stock up on food for each of them.

Calvin cooked while Marcella perched up upon his shoulder. He knew he was going to have a very tough time getting all these Pokémon in their Pokéballs when the time came to depart for Dewford Town. They all seemed to have such a nice time with each other, but he did notice that they got very cliquey at times. Ryujin and Victoria were always together, the latter of the two enjoying Ryujin's company much more than Calvin's. As much as he hated that his Pokémon wasn't so loving of him, he had to understand the background of Lupup itself. He's heard the origin story of the little one from his very own father so long ago and understood exactly why the Pokémon was very reserved around him. He was definitely cracking the shell around her though. The Pokémon is acknowledging him now...and that was a start. Sauron spent most of his time practicing his dodging routine that they went through during the last night. The Pokémon was working hard and Calvin loved that about the Pokémon. Good ol' Ryoka spent her time watching over all of them and listening for any hazards, like a mother tending to her young. Maverick tended to stay in the air during their time off, the Pokémon preferring the rush of the cool air. They all were doing their own thing, but what they were doing Calvin knew they were enjoying, and that was good enough for him.

"Alright guys, dinner's done. Come eat," he said to his Pokémon, watching all six of them flock towards the campfire that he had started, the smell of food causing each and every one of them to salivate happily. He smiled at each of them, giving them each of their respective bowls that he filled with various sorts of Pokémon food. All of them looked elated...that was for sure. A smile formed under the bandages as each of them started to scarf down what he had made. "Sorry about lunch guys...it seems my meditation lasted longer than expected." The Pokémon didn't seem to care at all however, each of them continuing to eat at rapid pace.

Calvin finished much faster than his Pokémon had, due to the fact that he had made extra for the others. He knew that he could live off very little food, but his Pokémon didn't do anything to deserve going without something to eat. During the time in which his Pokémon were eating, Calvin put himself through a small training session. He used a nearby tree as a sort of punching bag, performing kicks and punches against the course bark. While it would hurt many peoples' doing such a thing, Calvin's hands were bandaged and also the one place in which he could not feel a thing because of the pain receptor damage. Fortunately his motor nerves weren't totally damaged so he could still move his hands around a bit. Fortunately, he only had problems with his weak hand and it also only was a problem with grip strength and finger movement.
He punched the tree with great force, the power shaking the tree. He then continued to kick and punch in combos, in hopes that he could actually train Ryujin by doing it. The Pokémon was much quicker than he was; so he needed to become better at what he did to help better train. Ryujin was a Gallade and the Pokémon was usually a fighting type, but Calvin had a dragon-born Gallade...so it really was a dragon type with the same type of fighting prowess.
What he didn't know was that he became oblivious of his surroundings. And before he knew it, he was being attacked by a Lotad from behind. The Pokémon decided to attack him for some reason, but as soon as the Pokémon went to headbutt him, Ryujin ran from the camp quickly and took the attack.
"How could you tell I was about to get hit?" he asked quickly before preparing to battle.
"I heard it," it responded bluntly, its guards up.

Ryujin watched carefully as Lotad scuttled back into the forest, ensuring that it didn't come back. When it was sure that it ran away, the Pokémon turned to Calvin with an inquisitive look on its face. "What were you doing just then? I heard pounding," the Pokémon asked. Calvin pondered how to explain what he was doing because it meant a little more than just his own training.
"I was trying to train myself so I can help train you actually. The other Pokémon in our party just can't keep up with you in terms of fighting. So I thought maybe I could give it a go," Calvin answered, shrugging his shoulders. The Pokémon obviously found it amusing because it began laughing a bit. Calvin didn't exactly know why though.
"I'm afraid that my speed far exceeds the maximum threshold of a humans speed. But that being said, I'm not the fastest of the party either. That title goes to Ryoka, despite the fact that she does not attempt to show it," Ryujin responded, a chuckle breaking the silence that followed. Calvin just shook his head, because he believed that he could train alongside his Pokémon.
"Just because you are much faster does not mean I cannot train alongside you guys. My father once told me the only way to truly appreciate one's Pokémon was to train along with them. So, however I can achieve that, I will," Calvin answered. That was the only way he believed he could actually gain the respect of his Pokémon had as well.
"Well, you will need to purchase a sword then because my arms are as sharp as blades," Ryujin told him quickly, possibly understanding what his trainer wanted to do. Calvin could only hope that his Pokémon would let him train with them.

Calvin had no idea what he did, but the Lotad in the area were going crazy because of it. Maybe it was because he punched their tree or something. He had no idea, but that was the second lotad to attack in five minutes. He shook his head and looked around a bit, just to see if any other Lotad's attempted to attack. But after about ten minutes, Calvin let his guard down mainly because he thought that the Lotad cooled and stopped coming. So, in the meantime he would begin his nightly training with Sauron, which involved throwing stones at him so he could dodge.
The Pokémon was getting pretty darn amazing at it it seemed, Sauron moving off one foot to the next with mere ease. It was surprising even. He wasn't by any means graceful, but only time brought the grace of a dancer. Sauron knew that and that was why it desired to train as much as possible.

Calvin kept training Sauron for a little while longer, the Pokémon enjoying his time dodging around each rock as it made its way to it. But, as the night dragged on Sauron got slower and slower, the Pokémon tiring out extremely. So, Calvin decided to end their training for the time being, despite the protest from Sauron himself. Calvin loved that it was so willing to train, but it had to know when to stop. But...just as he decided to stop, a trainer had sauntered over to him.
"Hey you, you're a Pokémon trainer right?!" the man said with an obscene amount of confidence. Calvin nodded, looking at Sauron and the rest of his Pokémon, who were off in the distance. Calvin wondered why this man had rushed up to him, but he assumed it was because he wanted a Pokémon battle. So, he would satisfy the man's insatiable desire to fight him. "Sweet! You'll fall to my super rare Pokémon!" This caught Calvin's intrigue, an eyebrow raising at what Pokémon may be coming out of the Ultra Ball in his hand.
The Pokémon trainer threw out his first ball and the Cresselia that came out astonished him. This was...the Cresselia, the legendary Pokémon. He almost couldn't believe it, but this was a Pokémon battle, and he needed to fight. He without a doubt was sending Ryoka out to deal with the Pokémon, for he had no idea just how strong it was. But, before he sent his Pokémon out, he scanned it with his Pokedex to show it to Professor Birch.
"Cresselia....Those who sleep holding Cresselia’s feather are assured of joyful dreams. It is said to represent the crescent moon," the Pokédex said upon scanning.
"Alright Ryoka, it is your turn."

Result: Ryoko quite handily defeats the legendary Pokémon with ease, much to the chagrin of the opposition. Through a very well-placed dragonbreath that resulted in paralysis. This caused Cresselia to not be able to move and be susceptible to Ryoka's Thunder Fang. Ryoka wins the match and gains 7 exp! Gunter calls back Cresselia in shame and sends out Luvdisc. Calvin calls back Ryoka and sends out Victoria.
