Erica would shake her head. "Pain is a spice, to the entree that is life. And I... I am the abuser of salt." She smiles stupidly at him, and shirks her clothing, down to the essentials again. She'd look at the doctor, quietly, thoughtfully.

"Tell me more, eh? Specifics. I don't care to be here longer than I have to." She'd smile, standing up to be measured. "Things.... should not be complicated by the intricacies of spy and assassin. The pockets of the diplomat, and the fist of the warrior are more my ways." She murmurs under her breath.

Frank shook his head and said, "Whatever floats your boat. As for specifics, I don't know much. I don't know how far away this place is, what the hours are, nothing. And there are so many places that give out enhancements- I hear it's almost impossible to tell which one gives out the parts that are used for... less scrupulous activities.

"As the saying goes, it's like looking for a needle in a haystack, with one exception... the needle is prone to p***k you if you're unfortunate enough to find it. The place will probably have high security measures. Still, this is only speculation."

By the time he was done talking, he was also done measuring.

"Enough talk- let's get you set."

Eripse would sigh, having gained some sense of trust in the man now, and would follow him quietly to wherever to endure the pains of the procedure.

(Assuming I get to fade to black while you whip up one of those ripsnorting good a** long posts or something! <3)

Journal Entry #102:
Location: Aekea

This city is strange. They have these...robots? Yes. robots. Artificial Intelligence that roam the streets. I dont trust them. They have no real emotion, except for the more huminoid ones, I have yet to learn what they are called. even though they have little to no emotin, they work and live in this city side by side with the living. Starnge. Do they depend on these A.I.'s?

Probably. This place is a huge mine waiting to collapse. But alas, my first job. While wandering the roads, and bumping into many strange cows, I met a trader. He seemed very intrested in Aekea because of somthing he calls the Black Market. I've heard rumors, but have yet to actually meet someone intrested. He wants someone killed. Thats all I can say for now.

~Pause~

Someones coming. I'll continue this tonight.

With a flick he closed the book and placed his hand on the cover. It crumbled into dirt which he scooped up with bending and placed in his pocket. As he was getting up, the dorr opened and one of the bots entered the room.

'Room Service'

He looked down the hall then walked out of the building for some exploring of this strange place.

((Okay, I'm going to assume that the proceedure went well here. I could always have you ruined for a good while in the physical sense and go mad scientist on you, but bleh.))

The proceedure went quite well... though it was indeed painful. Hell, most of it was, and few wanted to go through with it without anesthesia. Still, he could tolerate the noises that Eripse made, if any at all. By the time all of two hours was over, she had a new, techno-organic arm. Pattern forged titanium and steel, making it seem as if the entirety of the arm had watermarks on its surface.

Matching leg, too.

But once again; just because it was artsy didn't mean that it wasn't damned effective. It was lightweight, yet extremely strong, durable, and quite proficient at crushing someone's head in, if one needed that to happen.

"There- though I doubt you enjoyed that pain as much as you said, it's done. Take a look."
PostPosted: Sun Oct 22, 2006 11:28 pm

Eripse had tolerance... She knew she did, but that was something new... Something... enlightening. She had made little, if any, perhaps a choked noise in her throat, a grimace on her face, and contortion of her body... However, she did endure it, without so much as an ear shattering scream... Just softer noises. When it was over, she would rise and walk with the leg, moving the arm fluidly, left, right, left, right... She'd even throw a few punches, out of harms way. "I'm pleased.. Thank you doctor." Sliding on her jacket, she'd hide the embers creeping down the new arm, dressing the rest of herself to gain some decency. "For the work and the information." Shotgun would dangle against torso on the strap as she exited the room, and without so much as a word to anyone waiting on her, she'd leave and begin to persue this... illegal parts vendor.

The Akea Medical Research and Development Headquarters was a large skyscraper type building, it was mostly offices and a few floors of clinical reserch, most of the offices were even owneg by the city government... there was hoever a floor that was rumored to be completly owned and opperated by the Yakuza... but that was just rummors, there was not a scrap of proof ...

Ashizu Itachi spun around in the leather office chair twice as her guest entered the office on the 18th floor of the AMRD Headquarters stopping herself with her hands on the desk... It was a very nice desk, Teke with cherry inlaid she had been told, it cost more than a new compact car but Shi liked the old feeling of the natural woods and the fancy brass handles on the drawers. "Well, Dr Crane, I assume that you wanted this meeting to tell me some good news. We have not heard from your department in quite a few months and my employers are becoming a little anxious for some sign... any sign...."

The office was warm and homey but there was a cool attitude to Ashizu that defiantly kept the room from being comfortable.

"Um... Yes miss... T-316 has defiantly proven itself as amazing mental and physical stimulant for humans and meta-humans alike, it is very mildly addictive for most, but more so for meta-humans." The short woman pushed her glasses back up the bridge of her nose and tried very hard not to look at the teenager in front of her.
"In 100% of the subjects mental and supernatural powers are increased buy at least 45% for a maximum time period of 48hours. After that all human subjects return to normal, only the .03% of humans who suffer from a dependancy show any adverse effects from the substance. Meta humans are another matter entirely." Dr. Crane slowly pushed a folder across the desk towards Ashizu, in an attempt to keep the petite girl from feeling the urge to get up and come closer to herself.
"Our scientists have found that with every 10 milligram dose to a meta-human they gain a metaphysical or supernatural ability that they did not posses before hand for the 48 hour period that the drug lasts.... and as long as they do not develop a dependancy the meta-human will loose at least 15% of their original supernatural ability... over the last 5 months we have seen no regeneration of those abilities in any of the subjects... and with prolonged exposure the drug even becomes inert in a meta-human's system. I short, the abilities that the drug first gave them will even cease to be accessible in a few weeks of daily dosages. They become human... no stronger, no faster, no smarter than the average joe who never passed high school." She was rather proud of that fact, the spite towards meta-humans that had brought her to this research centered around the fact that they did amazing things all the time and did not have to work their asses off for years to get any where in the world.

"Hum, so... the official test do not show this little side effect I presume?" Ashizu flipped through the report, appearing to only pay attention to the graphs and pie charts for the most part.

"No miss, we have been very careful to keep meta-humans out of the clinical trials... there have been hints that several military groups are very interested in our new supplement, especially a counter meta-human organization based in Durem. They have volunteered to beta test the drug for us, we have warned them that the drug works just as well on the meta's, and that they should not allow any of it to fall into the wrong hands... According to my HR guys it should only be another month before we receive our FDA approval and can legally sell the substance to doctors." That fact put a very smug little smile on the doctor's face.

"Well that is defiantly good news that I can take to the big wigs.. any sign of an effective counter agent or .. god forbid.. a cure?" Ashizu was smiling happily, a look that made her defiantly look her age for once... 17 and with a lifetime ahead of her.

"No miss, was have seen that flushing the drug out of the system prematurely can cause the damaging effects to meta-humans to be a little less than allowing the drug to simply run through the system... but even supernatural healing abilities have shown no ability to undo the damage that the drug does on a meta-human..." That was her crowning achievement, watching the healer exhaust himself to no avail... her super drug would easily destroy the meta-human population, Crane only wished that she could meet the real person who had created the drug in the first place... not there was a true genius!

"Well, I am very glad to hear that Dr. please let me know as soon as we can mass produce the drug legally...until then you will continue to send a 3 kilo shipment to the factory down town, for our side tests...."Ashizu leaned back in her chair smiling, a clear sign that the meeting was over and that Dr. Crane should run while she still could...

Dr. Crane stood up and made a little awkward bow to the girl behind the desk before she scurried off out of the office, a feeling of relief spreading through her as she shut the door to the office and exited the Akea Medical Research and Development Headquarters.

Over Aekea, Central District:

A UH-60L blackhawk approached the drop off points of the four squads Adaire had divided her unit into from 10,000 feet. They would drop soon, the units, when connected, formed a spear shape arc that would attempt to cut a salient to the Aekea R.I. HQ. The engine of this Black Hawk, the rotors sliced the air so smoothly they barely made a sound. Adaire's delay allowed them to reach the city just after dusk, making the bird practically invisible to the naked eye. But they really hadn't needed the darkness, a cold drenching rain had settled over the cloudy city. Clouds mixed with smog provided ample cover, though all positioning had to be done electronically.

Adaire read through the dossiers of her team on the way down, it was actually some of the paperwork she'd been doing when she was interupted, as she had wanted to gain knowledge of who she was to work with. Soon she put down her reading, leaving it in a holding slot to retrieve later.

"Time to jump," she said, eyeing each one of her squad members, one of whom was a heavy weapon's specialist, as going through the thick of it Adaire knew she'd be needed.

One squad went down, a few seconds later it would be her turn, the jumps precisely time to formulate the location of the squads into one functioning spread across a five hundred meter arc pointing at R.I. Aekea HQ. It would be a smooth silent landing, just as these men were trained, parachutes detaching smoothly as they hit the wet ground with only a slight slosh in the murky water that pooled on the ceiling of an abandoned factory. To the north was the besieged objective. They had landed stealthily without attracting attention.

Adaire set her comm link, checking the status of the other squads, hopefully their landings had been on target and unresisisted as well. The smart a** guy to took a defensive defilade position while Lieutenant Hughes surveyed towards the north. The heavy weapon's girl checked her equipment, and made doubly sure it was protected from the heavy rain. They would await her orders after she contacted the other squads and checked the global positioning maps.

Even from up in the air, they could see it...

Fire. Broken glass and debris. The autoturrets that popped out of the street itself and defended the front of the building lay in pieces of twisted, smoking metal. The building was under lockdown and the defensive reinforcements had been raised, titanium alloy shutters covering the windows and doors... but the siege was well underway. It seemed that, as much of an a*****e as he was, the man was right. This was far beyond an evac. It was one thousand cybernetics and androids attacking the building.

Trying to either tear it down, or gain access.

Now that they had nowhere to turn their anger since the announced disbanding of the Western Empire, they turned their anger towards the city itself. This buiding, seeing as it had such a central location, was a prime target for them. They would take it, make it their own, and begin planning a whole different kind of war from there.

And seeing as Raven Industries had such advanced technologies, it wouldn't be a problem to procure a few... upgrades. Major ones. Illegal ones, as far as Aekean law dictated. But here, the law was no longer in charge.

This squad had to become the law.

"We're all set, Captain," Dorian whispered. "These guys seem to mean business here- they want that building cleared out, even if they have to kill everyone inside. As much as I hate to admit it, he's right... this is a seige that we have to break before we enter that building."

The man who had suggested the notion said nothing, keeping his eyes open and his ears tuned. He wanted to be on the look out for any signs of enemy patrols who were watching for incoming forces. The others had to be mindful of that as well- Who knew how their communications systems worked? They could be watched right now, at this very moment.

One hand felt the holster of her revolver, the other the ruby pendant around her neck. Her emotions were getting the best of her and she had no way to put them aside, maybe that was okay, but it was causing her to feel things. She had always been so ambivilent about conflict not personal to her, treating it as just another way to gain work, to make money. But now, her emotional side was active. People were involved, there was needless loss of life and destruction of property that almost bought her to tears. Anger stirred against those who would incite and give way to such violent tactics, especially those who were leading this, wether here in Aekea or behind the scenes. In simpler terms, she was really pissed off. Even the tone of her voice changed.

Quote:

The man hadn't said anything was spotted, so they would move forward, he would take point and locate any enemy force that needed to be dealt with along the way. It was only about a kilometer to the building.

"Gonosz! This will not be tolerated!" she whispered, "Spread out and advance, keep within eye shot and use signals to communicate. Radio contact only when absolutely necessary."

The other squads were already ready to go forward, they had given the prearranged clear signal, and she sent them the prearranged go signal. Moving with stealth, blending their sounds in with the background, they would go forward through the allies, their lookout taking the occasional rooftop. They would cut though this enemy or die trying.

Red knew this wasn't going to be fun anymore, cyborgs and synths besieging an R.I. office, this had West Fall written all over it. Fighting was no longer fun for her, it was serious business, and she was scared.

((Game on.))

They didn't really mind the change in expression or tone of voice. It may have startled the man on her team that thought he was bad-a**, but it certainly proved to him that she was the boss. He wasn't entirely convinced, but he was starting to have his doubts about her... incompetence.

They cut radio contact entirely, meaning that the four, three-man teams were on their own, without any lines of communication besides emergency channels.

Just the way they liked it. She was smart.

And of course, there were cyborgs watching the alleys. Two on each alley that was being proceeded down, just at the end. Their laser scanners were searching for any organic life forms, no matter how small they were, so that they could remove it from their city.

The absolute range of the scanners were fifteen meters, and each cyborg was equipped with a belt-fed minigun for one of their arms, the ammunition pack on their backs being the origin for such a feed system. It looked like they had standardized their equipment somewhat since this city was last visited. They were the sentries, blocking off the possible entries to the battle ground. Steel reinforced armor was their mainstay, seeing as they didn't really have any upgrades.

That said, they still mimicked humans in the fact that the power source was located in the chest, and the CPU was located in the cranium. Just aim and fire. Shooting the power source with one of those fire-enchanted rounds would be even better, because a direct hit would make one of them go boom.

If one went, the other was caught in the blast, and would go boom as well. It was rather simple. Things like this always started off simple. If they made some noise however, they would attract attention. Perhaps that was the plan... because there was no running from this, no matter which way it went.

The silencers were placed onto the barrels and they stayed out of scanner range. Meanwhile, on Adaire's team, Dorian pointed towards a nearby ladder, just near their position. If they headed up the side of the building quietly enough, perhaps they could get a vantage point where a bit more of the action could be properly seen, and thus properly aimed at.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 02, 2007 8:27 pm

Red would take the ladder first, Dorian and the others followed, once they hit the roof they kept low. It was a flat roof that sat below the brick skeleton of the building, giving them a modicum of brick to hide behind. They could find the cyborgs and pinpoint their location without being caught.

These creatures, they looked tortured, like something begging to be put out of its misery. Killing those....... things, would be extending them a mercy, but their was a bigger picture to consider.

They were moving in a set patern, much more battle machine than human, in fact, they looked manufactured, almost mass produced. She had heard West Fall had a few prototypes like this, information had come through to R.I about them through Dr. Iskugawa's notes and other sources. The markings on their chest were Ymiristani, from before the fall. Someone was supporting this invasion. The models she was considering now were the failed specimens, they had sentry duty. If they were here, there was much, much, worse behind them.

"We'll take them down somewhat quietly if we can," Red whispered, aiming her revolver, this would be easy, a head shot would cause a CPU malfunction, to bad the revolver was fairly loud, but what was a few shots in a war zone.

She asked for the man's name, then ordered him to take the other one with the sturmwind rifle, their shots would have to be timed and directed so that both cyborgs went down together. If this failed, they would use a fire round to make them go boom and quikly take up position somewhere else to make another boom.

If they couldn't get to the compound easily, then they could distract and divert the enemy to take pressure off the security garrison.

"Name's Roland, Captain."

He simply did as he was ordered. It was a good vantage point from up here, and head shots were not going to be too difficult. Besides, they could probably avoid most return fire from this point. He applied a light pressure to the trigger and looked towards Red for some kind of signal.

The others would not fare so well, but who cared? Sounds of gunfire and explosions could be heard through three different alleys, almost at once. The fighting had already started. From below, the other two units picked up a radio signal... one of them responded in a flat, drone-like monotone.

"Understood. Shots fired at chokepoints three, five, and six. Investigating."

They, and a few others, were on their way to the other teams. Now or never.

Eripse had, in time, found her way into the ring, using her prosthetics as an excuse to earn good graces of her enemies. And in time, she had succumbed to it, Preforming her roles flawlessly. Though she always managed to avoid having to directly stand up to R.I.

In time, as well, the girl found a level of control over the limbs she had been given. Her regenerative abilities could adapt the techno-organics elsewhere, providing a uniqueness she'd never quite encompassed. Her regenerative tissue could convert, revert, producing odd.... Effects. Skin could become steel, Feathers became knives...

Often, now, she found her need to be pressed upon R.I. more possessed, her superiors easing her out onto patrols... Until one day, Taking a break from her unit to smoke in a nearby alley way, she overheard the radio, and somehow, on some deeper level, knew.

Now, was the time. Now, and only now. Dropping the cigarette, and snuffing it beneath her boot, she walked out of the alley way towards the two, Jacket sleeves overheating and rippling as she burned away flesh and feathers to replace it with that brushed steel, going all the way down into talons..

"Three five and Six? Sounds bad. I'll go." As she approached the two, she didn't faulter in extending her hand as it began to heat up, the metal glowing slightly with the power of it, beneath the flesh. Speed brought the limb hastily into the Cyborg Torso, below where the human diaphragm resided... The limb would sink wrist deep before she'd bring it upward into the chest, bringing it about to the other droid nearby, slinging the droid off just as she felt the chest overheat, turning her back with the motion of the throw, and covering herself in a dome of metallic wings.

Given the fact that the metal of her feathers was only as thick as the actual thickness of her feathers, shrap and bullets would undoubtedly dent her covering, but she didn't mind. Beneath the dome, the sound of a crystaline hum could be heard.

Red would hear and see a violent explosion beneath her as the alley exploded in a molten mess of flames and wreckage. The winged shield beneath her was not all that impenetrable, but unfortunately this specific opponent wouldn't be daunted by the special rounds.

The hum would be suspicious, but other than that, they would most likely have to worry about the other side of the alley where one of the other teams was about to be shot down. Then again, the shooting and explosions on the other end made it quite clear that they could take care of themselves.

Adaire would now have an unknown factor to deal with.
