Kettil let Freya have a couple of minutes to bask in love for family, but soon enough he bounced a little so he could jostle her, "Hey, hey. What's up? I thought that would make you feel better?," he asked quietly with a small grin back at Freya.
He was starting to move away from Piper, resolving to save that issue for when he and Piper were alone. Where Piper couldn't hide behind throngs of boils.

New Years didn't feel like anything worth celebrating, for Gabby. He'd rather liked the year that was passing away from them, and had no idea what the new one would bring. Sure, he could have had a positive attitude about the idea of an new year spent exclusively with Efflo, from start to finish. But positive attitudes weren't really his thing - so all he did was mourn the loss of the year he'd found his missing half. Off it went, leaving them be with some brand new year filled with the unknown.
He grumped about it much like he grumped about everything except for Efflo.
"At least XMas had presents." He mumbled, lost in his own thoughts and belated to the conversation Efflo was trying to start. But eventually, he got there. "Every time they have one of these events, they try really hard with the food. So it will probably be adequate. Woe to me the day they manage to gather up an all vegetarian Student Council - I think that might be enough to make me transfer."
His hand slid serpentine around Efflo's waist, pulling him possessively closer when anyone walked by a little too close. "It's loud in here, isn't it?" He growled out, rubbing his ear with one finger.
She buried herself into Kettil's neck, when he jostled her to try and make her feel better. She rubbed her face against his skin as she nodded her head. "It did." She admitted in a hoarse whisper, "But when she screamed.. and kissed me.." Freya's hands tightened around Kettil. "I remembers what it was like back home. Back with all my sisters, and Papa and Mama, and everyone was loud and touchy and I just.."
His skin was wet with the tears she was shedding against him. "I miss my family. I miss everythings."

Kettil let out a small sound of understanding and simply said, "Can go visit whenever you like, y'know. I'd even go with you. I still need to meet your parents one day, y'know. To let them know I intend to marry ya," he reminded her cheerfully.
"Whenever you're ready that is." He said softly with a bit of a smile. Kettil had never said that Freya couldn't go visit with family.
He gazed around at the surroundings trying to figure out something fun he and Freya could do.
Again, she nodded against his skin, but remained buried into his neck. "I knows. We will. I keeps meanings teh brings yeh, but I push it away because I thinks.."
She lifted her head up this time, and looked at the door. Hel was definitely gone.
"I thinks we will goes with Hel. But she's never goings back. She told me so."
Freya wiped the tears away from her eyes, and clung tightly to Kettil. "It's not goings teh feels like home anymore, without her. Everythings goings teh be different. It is different, already." She tilted her head to look at the boil, and then leaned in to kiss his cheek. "I thinks I wants a new home, now. A nice, loud, filled up home."

Kettil could understand these thoughts. Half the time he avoided going home on his own sometimes was because he had a sibling he wished to avoid for the most part - at least until said sibling got themselves settled elsewhere.
He just quietly started to head toward the Wishing Tree with Freya still carried on his back, "It is a wish I can gladly grant, but it doesn't hurt to get a little help, yah?" He tilted his head toward the tree after she graced him with a kiss on the cheek.
Was he the best everything ever? Yes. Yes he was.

"Hel. That was Hel," he replied, as if that was all one needed to know about the ghoul to understand why she was running around smooching people. Bren turned to look in the direction Sera was waving as she did so, watching another ghoul approach, accompanied by a tiny deer. Angeline. And Elvira.
"Yes, um, I'm Brenley," the boil replied, his voice low. He had been able to guess that she couldn't see fairly easily, but he kept his questions about her disability at bay, even though he had a million of them. Instead of asking her anything, he said, "It's nice to meet you."

Walking into the heavily decorated auditorium, filled with music, laughter, and life, felt like a bad dream.
The first thing Riley noticed, when she walked into the auditorium on Jericho's arm, was the pillows. She actually stopped, for a moment, and stared at them. Her fingers clutched against his arm, claws digging gently as she glared with a thinned gaze, but her reaction lasted only a moment. Mmm. She hummed in clear disapproval. You know. For a moment there, I had an awful premonition. I suppose this is what events would have looked like if Barth had won the presidency in my year. Would you agree?
Pillow piles and game corners. Her moment of horror had actually been a gripping anxiety over the possibility that Barth had somehow taken over the event. It felt strange, because it was anxiety over something she knew she shouldn't have remembered. But she did. Without question.
Her hand relaxed against Jericho, and she took in a deep, cleansing breath. Come. Let us see what they've put together, shall we?
To be perfectly honest, Efflo had forgotten it was New Year's Eve, and not simply just another party. The student council had spared no expense decorating the gym but they were lost on the green-haired boil, his attention limited to the dragon at his side, and the snacks across the room. Efflo thought almost entirely with his stomach, his heart after all, captured and frozen by his beloved, and his brain too busy being grateful for his inability to put too meat on his bones. He could eat as much as he wanted, and barely gain a pound, and he eyed the snack table hungrily - It was a good thing the Council had stocked it amply.
"We can't all be carnivores," Efflo reminded him with an elbow to his side. "Besides, looks like it's all junk food anyway, I'm sure you can find something edible."
For Efflo, everything look mostly edible, and he pulled Gabby towards the table, only letting go of him once they were there to retrieve some napkins and place them in Gabby's arms. "I can hear you just fine, now be a good plate," Efflo smirked, as he scoped out the table, picking up treat after treat, piling them first in his arms, then, once they were full, attempting to fill Gabby's.

It had been awhile since Jericho attended something like this. Well, he kind of technically didn't really recall the last one he had been to very clearly. He furrowed his brow at that thought, then shook his head. He smiled at Riley, then let out a small chuckle.
"Maybe. I think there'd need to be more pillows. More relaxing music too, I'd think," he said with a tilt of his head.

Before he could get a response from Voodoo, Shun found himself being assaulted by Hel. A sloppy kiss was planted onto his cheek and he recoiled from the very sudden breach of his personal space. With a sharp glare, he turned to Hel and daggers reflexively appeared in his hands.
She was gone.
"I'm going to kill her the next time I see her," he hissed under his breath.

Piper tried very hard not to look miffed that Brenley was blowing her off not just for some tree thing, but with another ghoul too. She tried. She tried right up until they both had their backs turned, at which point she turned to scowl at the selection of food before grabbing herself a cup of punch to simmer with. The greeting from Hel livened her up a bit, but it soured pretty quickly after two things: Freya kept taking awful photos of her, and Brenley was now conversing with other people.
Sigh.
"Okay, you know what? Fine. I did take it," she grumbled before she realized Kettil and Freya had started to hover away and probably couldn't hear her anymore over the music. The ghoul muttered a curse and snatched some crackers off the table to occupy herself. "Is it midnight yet?" Did Lock melt into the shadows completely or something? Hell, she'd take at least Voodoo's presence over nothing at this point.

Soren took another gulp of the cider, letting the delicate flavor of apples wash over his tongue, and lowered the bottle down and slightly extended it to Neru. He would expect it back, but that fact that he was offering to share even a tiny sip was a rather huge deal. However, the other flask being passed around was another temptation. Not a major vice for him, but it was fun to partake in every once in a while, and if a flask came his was he certainly wasn't going to pass it up without taking a swig or two.
The arrival of a priestess, though one he did not truly know, caught his attention. He simply made it a practice to try to at least know by sight most if not all of the priestesses, so he offered her a dip of his head in acknowledgement. "Welcome Priestess." It was a bit formal, more so than if he had said the same words to Neru, but as a guardian it was important to show proper respect.
As for the arrival of Lan...he almost missed it, as short as the mare was. When he did see her, he couldn't resist saying something to her. "You look...youthful today Lan."

He'd been moving away from Piper with all intentions to not resume the conflict any further until later, but he hadn't moved away far enough or fast enough when he heard the words through all the noise and bustle of everyone around him as he moved toward the tree.
Kettil was being happy, mostly for Freya's sake just then.
But Piper's words.
His expression went from happy to angry to extremely disappointed. Kettil's hold on Freya became shaky, "I think...I need to go back to the room now," he said quietly.
Junk food was going to work out just fine, and Gabby leaned in to see what he was going to pick out for himself, but before he could grab a single thing he realized his arms had been positioned like a bowl, covered in napkins, and filled with Efflo's choices. It all happened so fast, that Gabby hadn't even been able to complain about it before he was full up with Efflo's food.
He briefly considered just dropping his arms.
"Hey." Gabby growled dangerously. "I kind of need these arms for my own food. Why can't you just use a plate? Or not take the entire spread in one go?"
Gabby bent his head in, and tried to graze on some of the food already in his arms. Chips, mmm.
