Feeling oddly disappointed that she'd given up on the subject, Julian nonetheless breathed a slight sigh of relief.
Now, to figure out what the hell could possibly be wrong with him this time around.
"I don't blame you. It must be maddening to listen to," Ethan joked. "It's how I feel with English sometimes."
Crow laughed and nodded a bit as well.
"Neither does she. Being there with her best friend'd make it more tolerable."
She hoped. Len was deadset against going if her friends refused to go, and she didn't want to get into any more arguements about it with the girl. She valued her safety too much to risk losing a shouting match to someone with razorblades growing out of her.

Julian snapped back to his senses, looking slightly disoriented.
"Oh. Uh."
Ethan nodded, watching them again with curiosity.
"I would imagine so," he said.
Crow winced at what she'd done.
"Ooh, jeez. Malachi, I'm sorry. I didn't mean anythin'," she said, looking fit to kick herself for embarrassing the poor boy.

Julian swallowed with difficulty. His mouth had gone dry and his pulse had risen inexplicably. Stirrings of a thought he really, really didn't like was moving around in the back of his mind as his eyes fixed on Rabid's lips for a second. He moved a little closer involuntarily, taking her hand again.
Well, this couldn't be good.
Crow, smiling and already forgetting the little faux pas, laid back on the grass and looked over at Malachi.
"She misses you, y'know. Maybe you could stop by at the room later."

Rabid noticed Julian's strange gaze and cocked her head slightly to one side. She gripped his hand and sat up straight. What the frig...?
"I miss her too," Ike nodded, "I think I will."
In all reality, he missed her any time she wasn't around. It was horribly cheesy, yes, but it gave him something to look forward to.

Crow nodded encouragingly, then glanced over at Rabid and Julian. She could still tell something wasn't quite right...
"Julian? You okay?"
Julian jumped, looking flustered. He took a deep breath and grinned a little too quickly.
"Allergies, I guess." He said. Yeah, that was a brilliant excuse. Crow quirked an eyebrow slightly and shrugged it off.

"Yeah right," Rabid arched an eyebrow, speaking in hushed tones. He knew something he wasn't telling her...and so she hopped back onto subject. She raised her head slightly and peered down at Julian.
"Hrm," Ike said, peering at his mum and Julian warily. He didn't like it when Julian had problems. That usually meant Mummy was in trouble.
...even if it was just allergies.

Caught, Julian tried to speak but then shut his mouth abruptly. This was getting embarrassing... hearing Malachi, he was grateful for the distraction on his newest problem at the usual jab of uncomfortable hurt at the boy's dislike of him. It had bothered him a great deal for a long time over Ike's rejection - he supposed William was definitely not helping matters, but he had grown fond enough of the kid to mourn losing his friendship.
"M'sorry, later," he muttered out of the corner of his mouth to Rabid. He fully intended to tell her soon, but not in front of Crow. He had a serious doubt he'd ever hear the end of it.

Rabid sighed again and rolled her eyes. She was curious as Hell, but poor Julian...
She half-smiled and shrugged.
"Alright."
Aw, damn. Now I feel bad.
Don't! He's just some insignificant...immortal.
Ike crawled carefully over Miss Crow to get to his mum's lap and sat down. He peered at Julian and poked the man in the chest.
"Lo."

A brief look of surprise crossed Julian's face, replaced quickly but a slightly shy smile.
"Heya, Malachi."
Crow eyed the pair out of the corner of her eye and grinned. Finally, everyone was getting along...
