This time, the tunnel wasn't going to get the best of him. That, and he was going to not get hit by...whatever mystery thing that had been. Those two points were very high on Elium's priority list. And so, he marched into the tunnel for the second time, already steeling himself for what lay within.
Oh, there were all those corpses again. What a lovely way to start his trek off. The tunnel seemed to spare him for a few minutes, staying normal despite the odd vibe the whole place gave off. Elium gave a quiet huff, the sound reverberating oddly inside the beak of his mask. ...and that was when his shadow started moving separately of him, twisting and morphing when he wasn't looking. It went without saying that it took him only a few seconds to be entirely done with this phenomenon.

The whispers took him by surprise, and he almost stumbled, only to catch himself at the last moment. This had happened before, yes, but that didn't make it any less unsettling...
The darkness, however, was something Elium could deal with. After a fair amount of steps, the hushed voices faded away, and he was left alone in the blackness. For a long time, too.

Everything was black now. The dark was terrifying, but it also had it's uses: she couldn't see her shadow any more, or the endless stream of familiar corpses.
The silence was broken by a screeching wail that didn't seem to end.

The screeching stopped, but in it's place was the wet slush of something under her feet. All she could feel was slime and debris, and soon her senses were overwhelmed with the stench of death and decay.

By some miracle she made it back to where she started, and heard the rumbling in time to scramble to the nearest platform, making her way to safety.
Now she needed was a shower, and a mind wipe.
But as she looked back to the track she swore she had been on moments before, she doubted herself. Had all that really happened...?

He could see the light now, and that was reason enough for him to pick up the pace. Elium jogged forward, wondering just how far away it was. He ran a bit faster when the growling started.

The walls were bleeding and that was not okay. Elium simply stopped breathing when the smell grew to be too much, wrinkling his nose at the residual scent that roiled in his beak, having gained entrance through the vents in his 'mouth'. He idly thought of getting some rosemary or something similar as soon as he was able in order to thoroughly rid himself of the smell. That seemed like a good idea.

That growling cut through the air again, and Elium was really starting to think that whatever was in here had it out for him. Either that, or it was just pissy in general.

Soon, it became evident that he was getting closer and closer to the light--and just like that, he was out. The blessing was right there, and he took it cautiously, glancing back over his shoulder once in search of the source of the snarls from before.

The tunnel reminds him of Ruin, dimly lit and the smell of wet concrete stinging his nose.
The lights flicker, and the smell gets worse until its so strong he can almost taste the blood in his mouth, iron and bitter. Bodies pile up around him, bodies that are at once both familiar and strange. Their faces haunt him.
