Aoi smirked at her thoughts once more before looking at Alexis. "I can only imagine. I just wish that I'd have been able to get out more growing up. Father kept me in a lot after what happened to the village and I never had much fun. I can bet that he'd learn a thing or two from humans if he knew them, since from what I can tell, they seem to have more fun than most of the merfolk I've ever met combined. But I've only known one human, you, so I can't really say that much." she said, while braiding her long purple-blue hair over her shoulder.{{ooc:}}

Alexis cradled one cheek in his hand, resting his elbow on his thigh as he watched Aoi. "There is something about watching you that is enchanting," he murmured, not realizing he'd spoken aloud as he glanced towards the pool nearby.

Aoi braided her hair as if she hadn't braided enough of the seaweed into rope and needed to get braiding things out of her system. She wasn't really paying that much attention to the fact that Alexis was watching her and she looked up, however, by the time that she did she saw that Alexis was looking at the water. "Enchanting...? Me...?" she asked, her face turning a bit pink. She never thought of herself as enchanting and had never had anyone tell her that before and she wasn't sure to react; so she just returned to braiding what little bit of her hair was left{{ooc:}}

Alexis blinked when Aoi spoke, looking her way. "To be honest, yeah. You're smart, thoughtful, intelligent, flexible in action and agile in body, so why wouldn't anyone be enchanted by you?" he said with a faint smile.

Aoi was still wrapped up in braiding the last bit of hair when she heard Alexis speaking. She stopped and looked up at him, her face reddening before she spoke. "I guess that I was always so used to no one looking my way, well other than that smelly old man, that I didn't think of myself as anything more than average... None of the boys of the village that were my age or a little older looked at me and I'm assuming that it was because of father... He never let anyone near me... And with no girls there I had no friends. It was just no fun at all at home and that was one of the reasons that I went out, looking for something to do." She looked at Alexis and then she looked to her hair and sighed. She then gave a small laugh and asked if there was something to tie into her hair so that it wouldn't all come undone; though it wouldn't really bother her if it did.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shrugged. "Their loss for not having the guts to do anything," he said wryly as he pulled out a rawhide thong that he sometimes used to tie his own hair back. "If you want to braid my hair, I'd let you," he said with a chuckle, half joking; he actually would let her and wouldn't mind it at all. He tilted his head, the small handmade clamshell-crystal box holding various ties and small ropes. "Trust me; walking may be a bit challenging for you, but I can tell you you'll enjoy the hot spring just as much if not more," he said with a faint shrug of one shoulder.

Aoi nodded and said that it was actually funny watching some of the guys that were in her village looking at her, though looking at something else as if they hadn't been oggling at her from a distance. "I guess that guys did look at me, though they just looked away like they weren't. It was a bit funny, although it was sad in a way... There was one boy that I kind of liked, although father would have had him fed to the sharks, just because he was from one of the peasant families... I hate all that social status stuff and labeling... Why can't people just be friends with who they want and love who they want...? And find it in their own time...?" she said before taking the rawhide thong, tying the end of her hair, so that the braid would not come undone. She then smiled at the thought of Alexis letting her braid his hair, though she wasn't going to right that moment. "I hope that it doesn't take too long for me to get used to my legs and you to get used to your tail. I know new things take time to get used to, although sometimes waiting can be such a drag..." she said, giggling some as she spoke.{{ooc:}}

Alexis chuckled as he rose and took a few steps towards her. "I agree with that idea, though unfortunately... well.... frankly, I never really saw girls as romantic interests, since the only one I saw regularly at all was my sister... until you," he said, well aware his voice was fairly shy as he spoke. He cocked his head slightly, seeing her legs trembling slightly before he shot forward surprisingly fast, catching her with one arm as he saw and felt her legs give way beneath her. He frowned slightly as he noticed thin trails of blood from where she'd unconsciously stumbled, likely scraping her feet on the rough and, in places, sharp, stones. "Let me take care of that for you," he said as he reached up, pulling down a small, surprisingly finely made case that he opened to reveal fragrant pale lavender and slightly blue creamy liquid; he had found it to be highly medicinal in nature, though he rarely used it himself.

Aoi listened to Alexis as he spoke; all while she tried walking again, though her legs were just not used to holding her weight yet, so they shook slightly. She heard the shyness that was in Alexis' tone and she smiled softly at that fact; thinking that his shyness was actually kind of cute. "I understand." she said, just before feeling herself losing her balance. She thought she was going to tumble to the floor, yet again, however, before she even fell she saw Alexis moving to her at astonishing speed and catching her just before she fell. "Thanks..." she said, feeling a bit embarrassed that she nearly fell again. Her feet were a bit sore, though she hadn't really thought much of it. She merely thought that it was because of the rocks that she was walking on and not thinking that she had hurt herself. Yet she noticed that they in fact were hurt once she looked down and heard that Alexis was going to take care of something for her. "Ouch... I didn't even realize..." she said, nibbling her lower lip; embarrassed that she hadn't even noticed that she had scraped her feet.{{ooc:}}

Alexis shifted, wincing slightly as he glanced down at his own calf close to Aoi's foot where several shallow scrapes were oozing blood. "It's my fault for forgetting the sharper stones that tend to sometimes shift on the surface of the ground. Trust me, I know well enough to avoid them, but I kinda forgot about them," he said wryly, wincing slightly as he shifted his feet, pulling out a smaller sharp shard of stone out of the arch of his foot just behind the ball of his foot, causing the wound to bleed freely. "Case in point," he said wryly as the case tilted and flipped in the air before landing in Aoi's lap, the lid covering the medicinal cream within.

Aoi caught Alexis wincing and she could just imagine that he'd gotten scraped by a stone or something and she felt bad, even if it wasn't her fault. "I wish that there weren't so many things to get hurt on on land... I don't remember ever having this much trouble under water... Although, I was locked up for the most part and was kept in a 'hurt proof' room..." she said, nibbling her bottom lip. She saw that Alexis' foot was bleeding and she frowned. "I think that you need to clean the floor of the cavern up some... that way there can be a nice smooth spot where we can walk on and we could stay away from the rougher spots. It's just a thought, though." she said, taking the rawhide thong from her hair and then wrapping her braid into a bun before tying it up again.{{ooc:}}

OOC - Alexis shrugged. "Most of the time I remember these sorts of things... not to mention I'm usually not this clumsy," he said with a wry smile as he opened the box before scooping a bit of the fragrant cream out before lightly rubbing it over the bottoms of Aoi's feet, not realizing that it might be ticklish for her.

Aoi looked at her feet and sighed at the thought of them getting scraped up so easily. "I don't think that I'll like it if my feet get hurt this easily... And... Well, you did say that you think that I'm enchanting. Maybe I'm distracting you?" she asked before giggling a bit uncontrollably, yet softly, as she felt Alexis rubbing the cream onto her feet. "That... tickles..." she breathed between giggles.{{ooc:}}

Alexis blushed at Aoi's words before he shifted subtly, unintentionally leaning closer to her. "Ah... a bit, but well.... the skin will thicken over time and toughen, so that's a good thing," he said wryly with a chuckle. He wasn't going to admit that he found her very attractive.

Aoi bit her lip, trying to stop giggling some, though she only stopped after Alexis stopped rubbing her feet. "I see. Hopefully I won't cut my feet on the rocks too much. That wouldn't be fun to walk with aching feet at all..." she said as she noticed that Alexis had gotten closer. She moved and sat with her legs tucked under her bottom as if they were her tail and she leaned towards Alexis a bit. "You know... I haven't said it, but I love your eyes. I've never seen anything like them to before. Most of the merfolk from my village have the same colored eyes, a bluish-gray, other than my mother and me; who both have teal colored eyes." she said, her voice a bit flirty. She wasn't normally like this, but she couldn't help herself; mostly because she had never been able to talk with any guys in her village. Although it was partly because she was a lot like her mother, who, when she found someone she liked; someone she really, truly liked, she was not likely to let them go. She made mention of how her mother had loved someone else, even after her father had taken her in, though he forced her to marry him and he locked her away, and that the only good thing that her mother said came from the relationship was Aoi.{{ooc:}}
