Kyrie's back was to Miyuki, so the kitsune would not have seen the look of curiosity and suspicion that briefly crossed the half-blooded woman's face.

"Oh?" she asked, keeping her tone neutral. "An advantage? What do you mean?"

After a moment, she murmured, very softly, "Yes ..."

"Back to her," Kyrie muttered to herself. Then she smiled. "I see. I know what you mean ... it's true, every creature has their own method of communication. Being able to understand them is a very useful skill."

Still, Miyuki had used the word 'gift' rather than 'skill' or 'talent' ...

"Is it a gift he was born with, then?" she asked curiously.

Kyrie nodded slowly. She tried think of how that was possible - aside of course from the obvious - but she couldn't. The gift of tongues, after all, wasn't like a book or a trinket, something that could be physically given to a person at one's whim. It was special, an ability.

"I suppose you must have encountered a dragon sometime in your travels," she commented curiously. "To have survived such an encounter ... either the dragon was friendly, or your group is stronger than I thought."

Kyrie smiled softly. "It's a pity that not all dragons are friendly," she murmured softly. "Though I suppose that if they were, we would not be able to take advantage of some of them."

She neglected to say in what way, however.

But she did smile at Miyuki. "I know a few dragons. Some friendly, some not. One in particular is-"

She cut herself off suddenly, as if she had been about to reveal something she ought not to; and then she laughed to cover it up.

"Very dear," she grinned.

Kyrie only shrugged at that. "Dragons are what they are, after all," she said simply. "I find that unless there is some ... unique influence early in their lives, they all turn out bad. It's their nature. It is how they were created. Only through interaction - and good interaction - early in their lives that they can be changed."

To her, that was life. There was nothing to regret about it, nothing to long for. That was just the way things were.

After a while, others began to leave their tents and mill about, doing whatever they fancied. Certain things needed to be done, of course: Iorlas and Wren made themselves busy with food preparation, Daeron went off in search of firewood, Earendil scouted a bit just to make sure they were actually alone, Lancaeriel checked on both Kaito and Shiro; when Andarien finally awoke, he emerged from their tent, yawning and rubbing one eye.

"Zeus," he said, blinking when he spotted his pokemon on Miyuki's lap. "Are you bothering Miyuki while she's working?"

Zeus had been napping, but at the sound of his name, he looked up at yipped once at Andarien in protest.

Andarien chuckled. "If he's in your way, Miyuki, just shoo him off," he grinned.

Andarien laughed again, and this time Zeus carefully stepped out of her lap and bounded to Andarien's side.

"What are you doing?" Andarien asked Miyuki with a grin, kneeling down to pet the Jolteon behind the ears. "Finally getting the Pokeballs ready?"

Andarien's eyes lit up. "Excellent," he grinned at his sister. "I bet Zeus is really looking forward to that! Aren't you, Zeus?"

He beamed down at the Jolteon, whose black eyes sparkled as he looked up at his master. He yipped a bit at him, and Andarien chuckled softly.

"He says it's got to be better than the bag," he told Miyuki.
