The massive Black Warden turned back and looked at Rei and Kaoru as it heard Rei's orders. Then it turned back towards Illo, taking several earth-shaking steps towards the warrior monk as it changed targets. As it neared him, the Black Warden stopped and unleashed a truly seismic roar, rattling the metal and bones of everyone around it. But the roar was for more than just intimidation purposes. The sound waves that radiated from the throat of the beast were meant to shock and stun everyone around it from the shattering vibrations. The purpose was to hold its opponent still for its follow up attack. The dragon's mouth opened up wide and the charged laser inside it began to glow. Suddenly it let out several successive shots of orange light, the sound of each shot thundering throughout the reactor chamber and jerking the Black Warden's head back slightly. These immense bursts of energy were calculated to cause catastrophic damage to even the strongest opponents. Clearly the Black Warden had been able to get a read on Illo's strength and had compensated for the fact that Illo was resonating with the reactor.

Meanwhile, Athena ran to the side and around the Black Warden, careful to keep out of its notice. She raised her massive machine gun and began shredding the green apparitions once again, doing her best to give cover to the Black Warden who may be vulnerable to a counter-attack from its blind spots. "Cinder! Help the Black Warden!" Tessa yelled. The red colored machine engaged its thrusters, lifting off higher into the air and firing red hot spikes towards both Illo and his green ghosts. Misa V2 watched fearfully as the battle continued, rendered unable to act by her mixed feelings between her friend and his actions. However, the reactor itself was quickly becoming more and more unstable and greenish blue peals of energy began to lash off of it randomly, tearing apart the ground, walls and anything else they touched. However, if Rei and Kaoru believed this was their biggest threat, they were greatly mistaken: while the fighting had continued, someone else had found their way into the reactor core. There was a sudden, pained cry from behind Rei and Kaoru accompanied by the sound of rending metal before a small but terrible form launched itself towards them.



The Sufferer had run out of victims in between it and the WeaponMeister team, and now it was here. It clearly did not remember or care that they had not only spared its life, but freed it as well. The shrieking monster hurdled towards Rei and Kaoru, razor-sharp talons outstretched as it reached out towards the two to try and rend and tear them in its murderous rage.

Athena paused slightly as the light from the reactor faded. She couldn't deny that the Black Warden packed quite a punch; The Doctor had developed it personally and he was a master artisan when it came to war machines. The Black Warden's orange eyeslit glowed brightly to make up for the lack of light as it stared intently at the hole that Illo had disappeared into. The massive mechanical beast was programmed to always assume someone was still alive until it saw a body. And this situation was a perfect example of why. It ignored the eerie feeling that filled the room, incapable of feeling disturbed or uncomfortable. The dim red lights of the room sheened off its hard black carapace as it stood completely still and focused on the hole. Athena grit her teeth, obviously put off slightly by the aura that the dim room suddenly gave off, not to mention she knew she was the next target of the Black Warden as soon as it confirmed Illo was truly dead.

The Black Warden was almost never caught off guard, but when Illo suddenly appeared next to its head, it was an event that it obviously had not anticipated. The kick landed straight against the side of its head and with the power of a tesla-plasma reactor core behind it, the kick was not mere sting. The Black Warden's head snapped to the side and it was lifted off the ground, falling onto its side. The entire room rocked as it landed hard, forcing Athena to run and dive for her life. However, The Black Warden was not stunned and did not lie still for even a moment. It immediately rocked back to its feet and turned to look at Illo. Although it had a large dent in the side of its head the machine seemed to be no worse for the wear. Suddenly, several dozen slots on the back of its elongated neck opened, revealing a line of black rockets, each one the size of a double-handed sword. The rockets launched straight up into the air. As soon as they had done so, The Black Warden's neck lunged towards Illo, extending like a snake as the massive beast's jaws opened wide. This time, however, instead of firing energy blasts it went for a more direct attack. It attempted to snap its metal jaws closed on Illo while the rockets arced and began to come back down towards him. Then they exploded above Illo's head, sending virtual clouds of sharp black shrapnel screaming towards the monk at the same time The Black Warden's jaws began to close. Any shrapnel that hit the Black Warden would bounce off of it like cotton balls, as they were designed specifically to shred flesh and light metals and to avoid damaging it with its own attack.

Meanwhile, Rei's words seem to have no effect on The Sufferer. The tortured monster screamed loudly in response to Rei, her voice an ear-piercing shriek of twisting metal. The woman was hunched over slightly, tatters of clothes hanging from her partially metal body. She was covered with the blood and black fluid of her victims; human and machine alike. Her feet were just as clawed as her hands and they dug into the metal plating of the floor. It was unknown if the girl was even capable of speech or understanding it. The long, pointed tongue of the girl lolled out of her mouth, seeming almost like it itself was alive. The girl licked her lips slowly, her long ragged white hair hanging in her face. The dim red lights that filled the room once the reactor faded made her seem all the more menacing. She snarled at the WeaponMeister team, her reddish orange eyes glowing slightly. As soon as the reactor snapped back to life The Sufferer lunged towards Rei and Kaoru, sending several wide swipes with her taloned hands to try and shred any part of Rei's body she could reach.

Misa V2 was still in the middle of the room as the fighting continued. She hunched down on the ground, covering her metallic earphones with her hands as shadowy monsters seemed to appear out of the shadows in the dim red light. "Illo! Stoooop!" She cried in between tears, somehow understanding that the monk was causing this.

The Black Warden kept Illo firmly in its grasp as its mouth cannon began to charge, a bright orange light glowing from it. A high pitched whining emitted from the gun, as it prepared to fire. In several seconds the gun finished charging, and just before it was about to fire the dragon jerked its head to the side slightly as it was hit in the side of the face from a loud sonic blast. It didn't hurt the metal beast at all, but it was enough to force its grip loose long enough for it to drop Illo. Despite Rei's orders to make Illo its primary target, the dragon was hardwired to attack anything that attacked it. It turned its head to face the little girl who had fired the saving attack. Misa V2 looked up at the Black Warden with a tear-filled angry face. "Stop it! Bad dragon!" She yelled, scolding the creature for attacking her friend. The Black Warden was clearly not the slightest bit moved. It was still for a few seconds as it analyzed Misa V2's threat level before clearly deciding it was near zero, as it returned its attention to Illo and Athena. Misa V2 fired several more sonic blasts at the creature but they bounced off its metal hide. They didn't even cause the beast to move now that it was aware of her attacks; the giant pistons and gears inside it pushed back against the trivial force of Misa V2's attacks, keeping it from moving even an inch due to them.

Meanwhile, The Sufferer still didn't seem interested in Rei's pleas. It had truly lost all sense of itself. The Sufferer lunged, but this time it lunged away from Rei and Kaoru and onto a tall metal beam. She clung to it like a spider, drool running down her tongue and onto the ground. She looked at Rei, hanging upside down for a moment before she leaped into the air again with frightening speed. She soared over Rei and Kaoru, landing right behind them before spinning in a blur, her claws slashing out towards the two of them in a whirlwind of fury that would rip them to shreds if they weren't careful.

"Rei, you're not going to get through to her!" Kaoru insisted as Rei continued a futile attempt. Kaoru didn't think rei knew just how strong the sufferer was, each blow was like punching a spiked brick with one's barte hands, Kaoru couldn't hold out forever. The Sufferer leaped away and Kaoru sighed. "Ahh, a chance to relax..." Kaoru said until he realized Rei crouched down and lunged at the Sufferer. "Wait, what!? We're fighti-?! Waahh!!!" Kaoru said as he was launched in the air with Rei. "Ok, I got it, I got it!" Kaoru said as he acknowledged Rei's quick movements and matched himself with her movements. As Rei split into four copies, he matched her and created a copy with Rei, giving Rei a blade that flew alongside Rei and her copy's hand and would each strike the Sufferer to further increase the potential for damage.

The Black Warden shook and stumbled as Illo assaulted it with multiple forms, but it did not fall or break. Clearly it was made of some incredibly difficult material. Panels on the dragon's back opened and more of the same black missiles the dragon had shot before launched straight up into the air sending thousands of shards of black shrapnel screaming through the air in every direction. Illo's psychic blast hit The Black Warden dead on, but it wasn't enough to lift it up. It flipped backwards and turned end over end, leaving a long swath of wrecked ground and equipment in its wake for several moments before it landed straight up on its feet. It gave a roar of defiance towards Illo. It was clearly preparing for another attack but it was interrupted suddenly by a blaring alarm. Illo had managed to harness and direct the energy from the massive reactor in the center of the room but the reactor was more than energy. The circuits had blown, the metal had warped and melted, the tubes had burst leaking strange fluids across the floor of the room. The reactor was finished, and once the containment field finally failed even Illo would not be able to stop the explosion that would engulf the facility.

Meanwhile, The Sufferer was doing remarkably well parrying and dodging Rei and Kaoru's attacks. Regardless of her sanity, she was clearly a formidable fighter. Still, her bestial nature made it hard for her to understand that Rei had copied herself. She engaged each of them as if they were the real thing, slashing and slicing at them with her claw-like hands. As a result Kaoru was able to land hits on her and although the first few didn't seem to have much effect, the repeated hits began to cut deeper and deeper. "Shhhhkkkiiiisssss!" The Sufferer shrieked as if felt the bite of the blades. She increased the intensity of her assault, almost turning into a blur as she tried to rip through any "Rei" who got too close. As Rei, Kaoru and The Sufferer continued to fight, sonic blasts began to rush past Rei and towards the maddened creature. Misa had reawakened and was supporting the WeaponMeister team. "We have to leave!" She yelled angrily. "This whole place is going to come down on what's left of our ashes after the reactor blows!" "Guys! L-look!" Tessa cried, pointing towards where The Doctor's body had been. It was gone. Misa cursed before firing more shots at The Sufferer. "We'll find him later! We have to leave now!"
