Danny slid from Charli's back, better able to fight on foot than on horseback--and easier for the two of them to keep the enemies from ganging up on them in large numbers. She saw other warriors all over the place, but the most were definitely by the small building where Thalanir was...
Tkal didn't unsheath his swords as he would've done otherwise. He pulled the tie from his hair and lightly tied it into Karia's mane before wordlessly dropping from her back. The instant his feet hit the ground, the halfling became a monster. He ripped through the enemies trying to sneak up on his brother while the elf was fighting the group in front of him. But where he would've usually torn through Thalanir as well, the instant he got close, his mind somehow displayed a mask on him. That mask. Safe. Ally. Don't attack. Was it Karia's doing or his own? The question would have to be saved for later; he had work to do.
A lot of messy work to do.
~
Manga sighed, no comments given to the weak, wounded slave. She quietly undid the shackles, carefully catching him when he fell. What a mess he was in... She instinctively pulled out a roll of bandages from her coat, binding the worst of the wounds up. Luckily, there didn't seem to be any other slaves in the room; if there were, she would've expected to see them in the same shape as Sebastian. She took off her coat and draped it over him to make up for the lack of proper clothing. "Can you stand?" Her voice was soft, but still had a bit of that frigid tone she'd had since starting this operation.

Aila blindly fought beside Danny... her Danny, until she saw a knife heading towards the other woman's back. Aila stepped in front of it and took the knife in her stomach, using the momentum to pull the attacker towards her and plunger her own knife in his heart. He fell heavily and she grasped at the knife in her lower abdomen, careful to leave it in. She knew if she took it out, she would likely bleed heavily.
Maera screamed at the sensation of her Chosen being stabbed and reared up, smashing her dish sized hooves into their bodies, making them crumple like little paper dolls as she went wild.

Thalanir saw his brother but said nothing, instead fighting by his side until it all ended as fast as it had happened. He was a bloody mess, but at the moment he didn't care.

Sebastian winced and tried pulling away from Manga, tears running down his face and leaving streaks that were cleaner than the rest of his dirty and bloody face.

Danny's arms were around the woman in an instant, trying to stay calm and failing pretty badly. She watched people leaving the buildings, escorting other people in rags to carts ready to wheel them off to safety. "C'mon, let's get you help," she murmured, not willing to risk losing her love from something silly like blood loss. She left the defending to the two draft Azrien, concentrating on getting Aila off the battlefield.
~
Tkal finally stopped when all of the nearby fighters were either dead or unable to continue fighting. Dazed, he put a hand on Karia to keep himself upright. "Where's... Manga?" he forced out between ragged breaths.
~
Manga sighed. "Look, I don't have time for this. We're on a schedule. So stop struggling or I'll sedate you." As she finished speaking, she was suddenly aware of another presence in the room. Had someone come in? They definitely weren't alone... Setting Sebastian down with her coat still draped over him, she turned to face the rest of the room.

Derrik grinned wickedly, his facial features turning into something that could only be made by a demon as fire flickered from his fingertips and from his mouth as he spoke, his voice deep and dark. "This is only a game, Dahlia." He said, his voice crackling like Hell's Deep. It was only a moment before he disappeared, only to be replaced by Tkal and Thalanir.
Thalanir motioned towards the door and walked inside with his brother, sword still drawn. They made it just in time for the being to disappear.
Aila gurgled through the blood in her throat. She hadn't been this bad hurt before. At first it had felt like liquid fire through her belly and up through her veins but now she was numb.
Derrik waited until the two women made their way to a spot away from the others before he appeared beside them. He wordlessly flicked his hand at Danny, momentarily freezing her in place as he reached down and pulled the knife out of Aila's stomach. It took maybe three seconds before the wound began to close, and he threw the knife on the ground, a look of petty disdain on his face before he walked away into the woods.

Manga's body went rigid the instant the being started to speak. That voice. That voice. Despite being mixed with Derrik's, she couldn't forget that voice. She quickly drew her weapon shot a crossbow bolt at the demon, but only succeeded in marring the doorpost. She turned back to Sebastian and composed herself, gathering the slave into her arms and wordlessly handing him to Tkal before heading out to see how things were going elsewhere--and to watch for any possible reappearance of Wrath.
Tkal accepted Sebastian from the information broker, carefully carrying him back to where Karia was waiting for him. Sticking to the mare's side, he wearily walked towards where the carts were taking everyone to that little base they'd set up with food and medical supplies for the fighters and the rescued slaves.
Pure terror shot through Danny as blood filled Aila's throat--and then some stranger froze her and took the knife out. But then the wound closed... The instant the freezing spell was gone, her arms tightly wound around the farmer. She kissed Aila desperately for a moment before pulling away to express her terror. "Don't ever do that to me again," she gasped, her hold tightening. "Ever."
Manga swept through without so much as a glance towards the familiar faces around her, searching for missed slaves or injured bodies that were hidden among the fallen. She spent some time doing so, eventually walking along the route that the carts were taking to bring the slaves to the camp. She didn't take the cart for several reasons. One, they were for the weakened slaves and the injured--both slave and freeman. Two, she needed to clear her head. Three... she was in no mood to be in a small space with lots of other people. Some space and time would help her when she got to the base camp and was needed for leadership and organization. The run was done... but the job was only beginning.

Sebastian whimpered as Tkal carried him over, and set him down. But it was only maybe thirty minutes before his body started to seize and he evolved into a seizure, foam forming at his mouth.
Aila cuddled into Danny as soon as her coughing stopped. Tears streamed down her face. "I'm sorry... I'm so sorry..." She whimpered into Danny's shirt.
Thalanir followed his brother, silent and stiff as he sheathed his sword.

For once, Manga didn't go to Sebastian immediately. She was in the midst of the chaos, directing doctors and nurses and... well, anyone with medical experience to the worst cases. It was as if the chaos around her was a symphony, and she was the conductor. Medical treatment was given on one side while the starving men, women and children were fed on the other. Only when a panicked voice mentioned a seizure and foaming at the mouth did she go and take over. She mumbled in her native tongue as she worked, praying that it wasn't too late for him. When she'd done what she could, she forced herself to continue and go to another badly injured slave, this one a halfling that appeared to have had his arm almost chopped off during the fighting. It had to be amputated, but they had to do it carefully do that he didn't bleed out... She and the doctor in-charge of the young man quickly and quietly went about their work, the doctor moving on to the next patient and letting a nurse oversee the treated man. Manga, meanwhile, was forced to take a break by the medical teams, which she reluctantly did. Sweat dripped from her hair as she took a gulp of water from a canteen, trying to calm her heart rate so that they wouldn't immediately send her to take another break.
Tkal stuck to Karia at the edge of the chaos, watching quietly. "Something's wrong," he vocalized finally when Manga was sent to take a break. Then he paused and shook his head. "... No, a lot of things are wrong..." He'd never seen Manga like this. Not once.
Danny just held the girl snugly in her arms, drawing Aila's face from her shirt to give the farmer another desperate kiss. Only the need for air pulled the Skh'et away long enough to suggest their course of action. "We should... go help Manga," she mumbled. "But after that... you're all mine." Yes, she was being clingy and yes, she was probably overreacting. But she couldn't help it. Aila was... Aila was everything to her. If she was gone, a piece of her would die just as one would disappear if Charli or Beta was killed. She wasn't sure she'd be able to handle the despair that came from such an experience...

Karia nudged Tkal. "Go to her. She needs you I think.. Get her to stop and let Thalanir take over." She suggested lightly.
Thalanir nodded and looked at his brother. "I know she probably doesnt' trust me with much, but she can trust me with them. All of them had my back, and the slaves haven't done anything to me." He said assuredly.
Sebastian calmed down but was unconcious.
Aila nodded and sat up, kissing Danny back with as much desperation as she could muster before she stood, dragging Danny with her.

Tkal fidgeted. "I don't know how," he replied weakly. "I think I'm part of the problem..."
"Then allow me." Gray-green eyes were already locked on Manga as he walked past the brothers. "If you're helping, come with me. If not, stay outta the way. Big guy's coming through." The blonde elf glanced at Thal and Tkal. "We'll get her into her usual--well, not usual self, but at least a calmer version of her current self--in no time. Oi, Gergori! You're up!"
Tkal looked up--and up--and up at the giant of a man that stepped between them and headed towards the strangely-behaving informant. He watched in amazement as the elf-and-human duo stopped the momentum of the artist in an instant. Five minutes later, she was being cradled in the giant human's arms, apparently asleep. Not seeing anything he could really help with, he went and sat by the giant. Just in case.
The elf returned, sighing. "Some things never change..." Glancing at the elven swordsman, he turned to speak. "Ah. I didn't introduce myself. I'm Guy. Guy Tailor. The behemoth over there is Gergori." Glancing towards said giant, he added, "My sister--ah, make that sisters--didn't give you too much trouble, did they?" Guy watched Danny hovering by a woman helping in the medical side of things. "And, uh... know where I can help out?"

Thalanir looked at Tkal and then at the giant and elf duo. The hell?! He turned back to his brother, looking for answers but finding none. He turned back to the elf. He shuffled his feet awkwardly as he looked over at the giant again. What had he done to Manga? "And possibly get her to Sebastian soon while we do what needs to be done..She needs to be with him.. especially if he wakes up. He will freak..."
Aila set to work with the medicals, finding out that they used more updated instruments than she was used to, but there were somethings they didn't know how to treat the old fashioned way and couldn't so she set about those, resetting bones and such, Danny hovering over her cautiously, not wanting to let Aila out of her sight,
Karia looked up at the giant and leaned into Tkal. 'HE'S GINORMOUS.!" She exclaimed.

Guy cracked a rare smile. "Yeah, he's huge. Harmless, though. And I'm on it..." He paused and then turned back to the other elf. "Which one's Sebastian?"
Tkal nodded, leaning into Karia in return. "He's like... five times my size..." It was a slight exaggeration, but even so... The halfling had never felt so small before.

"Red Hair, Auburn eyes if their open. Angular face... Really bad messed up. Bad whip markings, dirty..." He shrugged as if saying 'you get the picture'.
Karia nodded and rubbed her nose along Tkal's head. "I am proud of you, love."

Guy nodded and disappeared into the crowd, roping in another helper into carrying Sebastian's stretcher over to where Gergori was holding Manga. Then he went to make a tally of everyone and help out where he could.
Tkal blinked and looked up at Karia, instinctively putting one of his hands on her nose. "You are?" Why was that? Did he do something worth being proud of?

Tkal fidgeted, uncomfortable. "I don't think that was all me, though. I looked at him and saw Manga's mask, even though it wasn't there."
