As she climbed, she thought of... everything. Of memories, soft and gentle. Golden light, golden halls. Power. Her mentors, her companions. All false, all shades. Facades and stage dressing, all of it. And the one responsible... her Emperor?
She could not believe it. Dared not believe it. But the Voice would know. The Voice had to know. She would find out who the Voice belonged to.
It occurred to her that she would be unable to hear the Voice... and yet, somehow, she did not feel this would be a problem when the time came.

The others around her were unworthy of her notice - she could not hear them. They could not hear her. What was the point? They all climbed together, broken penitents, all as blank as she was. She was quite certain of this.
And yet, as her foot hit the fiftieth step, she heard. She heard - not her own footsteps, nor those of any other. She heard the Voice.
"You dare take the powers of the others, when I created you, gave you purposed, and promised you a Kingdom. You dare raise your punitive claws against me? Even reforged you will never be on the same level that I am."
Her lips moved without speaking. What she said was this:
I want the truth.
Nothing more.

She had never realized how disconcerting silence could be. Jay heard absolutely nothing, not even the swish of her clothes or her steady breathing interrupted by the occasional sigh. Dead silence.
But then a voice broke through. The Voice. She closed her eyes, took in its words, but continued her long walk anyways.

Her calves burned a bit from the effort of climbing. Had she felt this sort of pain before? Surely she must have, but everything beyond this moment seemed dim. Of course it did - it was all a lie, all of it. She could feel memory fading into the place reserved for stories - remembered, but without immediacy. Her knowledge of the truth was like a wave crashing through every bit of her past and wiping it into something distant and cold.

This stair was not insurmountable. She could see the top, the ending. Others moved ahead of her and passed over. Her movements did not still despite the burning in her legs. Up, up, up. Like a machine.
And there she was. She heard the Voice again, sharp and terse: "All I ever wanted was to find the True King, and get, the others still stand in my way. I have given them no harm, no trouble, I have waited this long, and my prize is to be betrayed by everything I embrace, again."
And that didn't deserve even a voiceless answer. She moved on without acknowledging the Voice, even a little.

Sacrifice all that you hear.. "This doesn't sound good."Atropos chuckled. "Sounds promising." She pushed the door open and everything instantly went silent. Dead silent. Candace blinked, looking to Atropos with a confused frown. Atropos' lips moved, the woman looked just as perplexed, but there was no sound. Both women gasped, jumping back away from each other and being further startled when they still heard nothing. Sacrifice all that you hear. Candace snapped her fingers. Nothing. She heard absolutely nothing. Looks like they would be doing this deaf. Sighing, Candace gestured for Atropos to follow her up. The doorway gave way to the first floor of the tower. Upon entering the hall, something was immediately noticeable, but it seemed like nothing had happened. Cautiously, he looked around for possible... effects. Others here appeared to be moving up the stairs and yet there was nothing he could tell the difference of. So this tower was not like the deadly, crumbling Silver Tower. He smiled at the thought. Simply climb. He turned behind him, waiting for the little girl coming up the steps after him. "Come on, Maple." No sound. His eyes furrowed. "Maple?" No sound. Clasping his throat, he felt the vibrations as he spoke, but... no sound. "Maple, you are a tiny little girl who is a creepy shadow who's red eyes scared the s**t out of me and I wanted to punch you in the face when we first met but it would have probably gone through you and would have really screwed me up and you would have gotten pissed and hit me!" Uru shouted at the top of his lungs, flailing his arms all over and acting out such specific gestures. And yet, no sound. "Poop." [[Entering]]

Zephyros Enters, looking around. He sees people walking.. but why does ..why is there no sound? To make sure that he really couldn't hear anything he claps a few times. Enough to make his hands hurt.
But there was absolutely no noise. His brows furrow and he squeezes Sinclair's hands. Looking at him.. he nods his head forward. Edging them forward.. and lightly pulling him as Zephyros walks forward.

The place was quiet here, with the sort of dead silence that made you want to hit yours ears to see if there was water in them. He didn't hear his footfalls, his own breathing, or any creaking or groan of the tower around him. Just.....nothing.
He wondered, as the dark pillar had told him, if this was what his nonexistence would be like. As a figment, even he had to wonder what awaited him in the end.
But he had a purpose, and legs, and so he went up.

[Entering]The world was quiet here. It was eerie seeing other people walk soundlessly, and the existence of the magical plugs in their ears was only confirmed by Zephyros clapping his hands. Sinclair returned the squeeze, but frowned as deeply as he could to express his displeasure. As the staircases seemed to shake, he tugged on the hand still clasped in his. They had to hurry.

Breathing deep, he decided to test his own voice. Hello? He called out at the top of his lungs, but there was no sound. It was like he never existed. That he never effected this world - whatever this world was. He was nothing here, but still he could see and move. The fact he could touch a railing and see it move, to see it effected, was the only thing that brought him relief. At least he could do something to affect this place.
