Jordan had found a spot for the dish of cranberry sauce (canned, of course, but that was the better kind anyway), and slipped into the chair Harrison had saved for him, nodding his thanks with a smile. The small amount of alcohol he'd had was a light and pleasant haze in his thoughts, not enough to slow him down, but present.

The atmosphere at the table was a little awkward, but that was only to be expected with the tensions in the group. He was mostly glad that everyone was being nice for the occasion. He noticed Wash was saying grace, and hesitated; he'd lost his faith, but that was no reason to disrespect anyone else's. He bowed his head quietly.

Is he talking to the food? I don't think it can hear him, Ferros said, sounding a little confused.

No, Jordan answered. He's thanking God for the food and for taking care of us.

Ferros quieted, sensing that this was a complex topic. Jordan could feel the weapon peering at his memories, sorting through for the relevant knowledge. That was going to take a while, he thought with some amusement, and received a tendril of faintly amused acknowledgement from Ferros in return.

When Marcus made his suggestion and people began to offer what they were thankful for, he remained quiet a moment, thinking. Then he said, "I'm thankful for friends and family, present and absent. For the people I love."

Ofelia had her back to the door, her hands already in soapy water as she started the long process of cleaning. It wasn't until she heard his voice that she registered Melvin had entered and even then the redhead didn't turn to talk. She kept her focus on the dishes since it was easier to deal with them. "Nah, Ah'm good. S'not really a place fer me out there yanno?" Her voice was calm as she spoke, not a hunt of self-pity or mocking. "'sides, someone's gotta get a jump on the cleanin' so Ah f'gur Ah got this."

She did eventually turn to look at him, and she grinned. "Ah dun do good in crowds where they got alcohol in 'em anyway."

Melvin's expression darkened and he moved over to her. "You keep saying that people have a poor opinion of you, yet when the perfect opportunity to bond comes, to change their mind, to be with the people who will die for you, you pass it up. Avoiding isn't going to help you, and our life's are shorter now with being here. Do you really want to regret this later?"

He took a breath. "I worked really damn hard to get this together. It's an insult to me when you hide away and to all the cooks who you worked with today to make these dishes, the people who set a spot to you, for you to not attend. If you can't find a spot, sit next to me. Now I'm not going back in there unless you do." He crossed his arms, waiting. This was HIS Thanksgiving and he wasn't letting anyone escape.

As the others offered what they were thankful for, Rep found himself vaguely trying to figure out what he was, if anything. He was certainly grateful for his alcohol which was making thoughts travel through his mind like slow icebergs. Jerry seemed to have a good idea of what was important, that was for sure. Ofie leaving to sit in the kitchen, no less, made him frown - were they inadequate company somehow? He had to assume that was the case, shame cause he'd been doing his best to be okay with everyone.

Wash murmuring to himself got a funny look from Rep from across the table, he'd never so much as heard of saying grace and couldn't for the life of him imagine what he was doing.

Tracey offered, and Rep had to agree, though why he was doing it out loud, at the table, was anyone's guess.

Melvin seemed insistent that they say their piece before eating. Rep sighed resignedly and set the roll down on the table temporarily.

"I like erm. Guess I'm grateful for like, whatever this whole hunter thing is, second chance or whatever. Even for the wankers." His gaze might have raked across Marcus. "And the bitches." It definitely lingered on Sasha longer than anyone else. "But espesh..espeshilly for like, the people I love. Never had a family okay."

quite enough to drink William.>

His gaze finally settled on the bottle on the table. "M'happy for booze too though."

Sasha's moody look darkened slightly as Wash went on in giving thanks - until he glanced up at her with that exaggerated look. Yes, he was terrible, but at least she felt like smiling - and Rin's softly spoken comment helped, too.

Treating Wash to a slow 'you'll pay for that' sort of smile, Sasha's attention went from the Moon to Jordan - then to Rep. She caught the way his eyes lingered on her. Her eyes dropped to his neck briefly before she lifted her gaze to meet his once again, a predatory gleam lighting her pale eyes.

What the hell.

"I'm thankful for closets," Sasha muttered a bit loudly with a haggard look in Jerry's direction, though it was doubtful her words would carry too far. She lifted her voice before she continued, "I'm thankful for this island. Without it, I wouldn't have learned the things I've learned. I wouldn't have met the people I've met. I'm thankful for new experiences," Wash was given a pointed look as she rested her hand on his thigh, her fingers digging into the denim of his jeans under the table, "and those close to me." She leaned over to press a kiss against Rin's cheek before settling back in her chair.

The hand on Wash's thigh may or may not have started wandering. (It did).

The singing was done, the food was being passed around. Bottles of liquor as well which reminded him of one of the items he had found in a small hide away under his desk. An old locked up laptop that looked like it might weigh a few pounds that didn't seem to work, but more importantly an old bottle of whiskey with a note saying to 'only drink this with friends.' Well, he was here. Some of his friends where here. Annnnd he had held out on Rep last time he mentioned a bottle of booze so he moved around the table leaning down between Rep and Jordan.

"Well if I had to be thankful, I'd say you two guys Ceres and Candace make that list for teaching me how not to get myself killed." He placed the sealed bottle on the table, the wax still tight around the seal. "Whoever Mr J is, this Em person left him a bottle of whiskey to be shared only with friends. I think this counts as a good time to do so." He nudged Rep with his elbow, "Will you do the honors as our resident master of booze?"

He placed four cups down to pour into, "Harrison you drink too, we don't talk much but I'd feel bad not letting you partake in this." He gave Jordan a poke as well, "And this time no sad drinking over graves this time!" He looked up, "Now if only Candace and Nevada where here...."

Hazel received a smile in greeting, while Otto would find himself on the receiving end of a gentle nudge to the ribs at his very...touching thanks. Leaning back in her seat, she hummed thoughtfully and considered Marcus and Melvin's words.

"I'm...thankful for the people I've met here," She offered, echoing many of the others, "Despite all the hard times, it's the people here who have kept me standing. Coming into this, I never expected to make as many friends as I did." Here was to another year of fighting alongside each other and surviving. Right now, Eva's greatest wish was to be able to do this again--with all of these people present--next year.

And then she leaned forward to watch Hazel's work, lifting her brows in at her forming creation. "What are you making?" She chirped curiously, offering the young woman another smile before her gaze slid back down to her plate.

Jerry heard Sasha's voice, and for a moment, he thought she had said... by the time he was glancing her way, she had turned her smile from Wash to Rin, and Jerry's face had gone red.

He shouldn't care.

He shouldn't care that she was his best friend, was his world, and now hated him with every fiber of her being for no apparent reason other than he was too Jerry. He shouldn't care how happy she looked without him.

His stomach twisted, his appetite lost.

He drained the vodka from his glass to see if that would help.

Wash gave Sasha a look, a glimmer of a smile around his lips, then sighed. He pointedly glanced at Jerry, meeting her eyes again. Did she care if he figured out what'd been going on? It was her choice, although she didn't seem...entirely herself. He raised an eyebrow, but didn't say anything, waiting.

He did let one hand slide down her arm under the table, to rest feather-light against her wrist. Just a touch, discreetly implying that now perhaps wasn't the time.

Pink bloomed high across Sasha's cheeks as Wash's hand rested against her wrist. It might have been the slight blush of alcohol, or maybe a bit of embarrassment, or perhaps it was a combination of the two. She knew the point that Wash was trying to make - and if she'd been in full control of her senses, perhaps she never would have gotten as carried away as she had.

Either way, Sasha felt properly reprimanded - and even irrationally annoyed with the entire situation.

Shoulders hefting in a heavy, heavy sigh, Sasha merely turned her hand so that she could twine her fingers with his before muttering unintelligibly beneath her breath. Only then did she give Jerry a vaguely apologetic look. Kind of. Well, almost apologetic.

Rin looked startled at the kiss to her cheek. She never saw that coming and turned a bit to offer Sasha a baffled smile as a bright pink enveloped her face. Now she vaguely understood what people were doing. It helped to grab her attention.

Rin turned back to look around at the others, "I'm thankful that I'm still alive." It was a sentiment she meant with all seriousness. "And that people care enough about me to have kept it that way," she reached for the whiskey bottle again and raised it, "A toast to all of you wonderful, wonderful people."

She tossed back another healthy swig then returned it with an especially fond look directed at Sasha.
PostPosted: Fri Nov 23, 2012 2:23 pm

Rep caught the look from Sasha, even drunk as he was, but it didn't prompt the usual immediate and defensive response it might have any other time. Instead he found himself very lazily running a fingertip along the edge of the slightly raised scar, a distant but defiant little gesture. She could look but she wasn't getting close again.

As she planted a kiss on Rin's cheek there was - even through the drunken haze - a vicious twist of resentment as she staked a claim on what he'd always considered his. As she looked at Wash though, Rep's own gaze moved to the other man, for a fleeting moment sharp and sober as something seemed to click.

He grinned.

He might have even said something had Ro not sidled in, distracting him. He gave the Mist a slow and bleary sort of blink, the grin draining into what he hoped was a helpful smile most things now taking a hell of a lot longer to get through to him with his not phenomenally speedy brain gummed up with various emotions and alcohol.

"M..aster of booze?" He seemed to consider this. "King of booze and we are good." At least opening a bottle wasn't yet beyond him, and he did so, just fleetingly giving Ro a look as he mentioned Harrison.

"Too right he gets some. If he didn't, I wouldn't take any either. " Any other time he might have held his tongue but tonight wasn't any other time. He handed the bottle back to Ro carefully. "You like..pour it. I'll gettit all over the ********' place."

Sasha's sigh pulled his attention away again, just in time to catch Rin's thanks.

I'm thankful I'm still alive.

His gaze went to her arm, and then to the way she eyed Sasha. She was so ******** oblivious.

It was his turn to mimic Jerry and drain his glass of rum while Ro poured the whiskey.

"I much prefer cheerful drinking," Jordan said to Ro, chuckling a little. "Thanks, dude."

His eyes sharpened as he saw the too-thoughtful look Rep was directing at Sasha and the two who flanked her. Everyone was pretty much behaving themselves still; even Sasha had only taken a couple of passive-aggressive shots, and she seemed to have thought better of them shortly afterwards. Hopefully the gathering could stay civil. Jordan could distract Rep if Rep seemed to be inclined towards aggression, anyway.

Jerry caught the glance from Wash, the shifting of close bodies that clearly stated that contact was going on where the two lines met their apex. Shifting and blushing and a look his way and a soft blush on Sasha's cheeks and more twittering and whispering and something was going on with Rep and Ro beside him but he ignored it until there was suddenly the sound of shattering glass.

The Sun blinked, looking down at the mess in his hand. At least it was just a bit of blood and ice, nothing a napkin and a Fear shield couldn't fix in a few minutes.

"I uh. Need another.... another glass I'll um. Yeah." He cleared his throat, excusing himself to quickly find a replacement.

Just.... sit and eat some canned turkey. What she did and who she.... what she... her business was no longer his business. She wanted it that way. She had wanted it that way for a long time. He had to accept it.

He didn't like it.

But he had to accept it.

"You know what I'm also thankful for?" Jerry wobbled a bit as he returned with a fresh drink. He pointedly kept his gaze anywhere but Sasha across the table. "Honesty. Good, old fashioned, honorable honesty."

Don't you start up, Roar growled warily. We just got you functional again, man. If you call it that.

"No, no, I mean it. I mean it when you... you trust someone enough to tell them how it is and not just... just... ******** string them along you know? Like they're worth something to you."

He very happily began stabbing at his dinner.

... well, there went that hope. Unfortunately, Jerry was too far away for Jordan to kick him under the table. Jerry got a sharp look instead.
